  • @Youknowwhoyouare -- Wow...I had an Asian teacher call me "Lickey" instead or Rickey for years and I wasn't all butt-hurt about it. He certainly wasn't lazy, ignorant or stupid. Gonna take on calculus teachers with Phi vs Fee or just black sororities and frats?

  • For those interested in the actual Greek alphabet, here is how it's pronounced: Alphah, Veetah, Ghamah, Dehltah, Epseelon, Zeetah, Eetah, Theetah, Yotah, Kappah, Lamdhah, Mee, Nee, Ksee, Omeekron, Pee, Rho, Seegmah, Taf, Eepseelon, Fee, Hee, Psee, Omehgah.

  • Wait... so what was wrong? I didn't catch it..

  • omega uh huuuuuhhhh ;D

  • You put some effort to do or learn something. Respect that effort and do it right!

  • ow my....this is not the correct pronouncing!!!!!!!!

  • @mizraquel11 LOL right back.. concluding that I'm fat and ugly because I have a cat? I really couldn't care less what you think.. you don't even know me :) Just proves my point about ignorance and stupidity. Cheers

In greek the word "bridge" (gefyra, γέφυρα) came from (or includ) the words "earth" "up" "of" "water"...The word "bridge" (in greek) came from the need of the people to give name to the earth up of water

  • @nickjonasrocks341 white people are always able to join black Frats and Sororities some just choose not to im a part of a Black Greek Letter Organization and we had 2 White men and 5 Hispanic men join and pledged with me so it depends on the person. you can say the same thing about white fraternities and sororities that dont have any black people... and I quote you "no black people...racist much?"

  • @intintruder its funny u say that considering the cracker ass white man enslaved "niggers" because he was too lazy and ignorant to do his own work... "Niggers" must be worst something... In addition, "niggers" were taking to a foreign land with a foreign language you should be glad "niggers" are trying to learn something other than their own... And they pronoun it based on the way the "White" man told them to... if "niggers" are so bad then let them stay where they are... Yes i am a "Nigger" :)

  • @klbaggie13 hell yea! send them back to africa and starve there ass's ur sooo smart

  • @klbaggie13 send them back to africa and starve there ass's ur sooo smart

  • @downwithleah technically, you can't send someone back to african if they've never been to africa. i'm a nigerian african and trust me, black americans or any black person apart of the diaspora would not be able to fit in amongst us. their culture is american. they are america. period. your blunt racism is disgusting.

  • @lovelyleyley "your blunt racism is disgusting" so is a niggers face. well not to be mean but you guys could use some help from these americans because no shit they cant live among you, hundreds of africans die everyday from diseases and poor nutrition.

  • @intintruder what on earth are you saying? I'm from Greece, and noone treats black people like that. we are all equals in Greece. Go do some research before u talk.

  • @Nikolsat7 actually the romans/greek didnt agree with black people

  • @intintruder well im a NIGGER and ive been to Greece SEVERAL times and never once saw a nigger slave... So hmmm are u sure...

  • There are some common pronounciation mistakes. Beta is pronounced Veeta. Gamma is pronounced Yamma. Delta is pronounced "Thelta"("th" is pronounced like the article "the"). Φ, X, Ψ are pronounced Fee, Hee, Psee. Iota is pronounced "Yota".

    Nice video!

  • @aggelospanatha Μην προσπαθείτε, η Αμερικανη δεν πρόκειται ποτέ να το καταλάβουν

  • Which chapter is this?

Very good. I love it. :)

  • Well it doesnt really matter how people say the greek alphabet as long as they know how they are pronounced in english and greek >.>'

    Vee-tah~Beta

    Oh-mee-kron~Omicron

  • EXCELLENT WORK.... Pretty good accent!!!! li

  • Well in AMERICA this Is how we spell and pronounce them!

  • @tlwright309 YEA THATS AMERICA..... WE ARE GREEK SO LEARN IT RIGHT OR DON'T LEARN IT AT ALL...

  • @nectarientje Well im an AMERICAN and ill say it how i was TOUGHT BOTTOM LINE! I dont care how you want me to say it cuz im not going to please you....

  • @tlwright309 Well in AMERICA YOU ARE FUCKING RETARDED.

But you dont need to get upset..... go have a Big Mac and you surly calm down !! ;)

  • @Myrmidon510 No need for name calling little child you see I not once cursed at any i was just making it plain that in america thats how we say, pronounce, and spell them. as they say when in Rome do as the Romans and when in AMERICA do as the AMERICANS... and secondly i dont even eat McDonald's so how dumb do you sound... Im not about to sit and argue with someone on YouTube so you have a wonderful and blessed day :-)

  • @tlwright309 Yes but I know American people who came to live in Greece and they knew the alphabet right..And it's not difficult to learn it right..It's important to learn it correct (if somebody wants to learn greek)coz every letter has a meaning..For exaple..What means the word bridge? Why you call the bridge with the word bridge? There's no answer. Greeks called the bridge with the word "gefyra" (γέφυρα) coz gefyra means the earth up of the water..So...

  • @Kongkos I simply said things are said different every where we say stuff in greek that may not sound right to the people of Greece and people in Greece say things in English that dont sound right to us Americans so people are always going to say things differently so just let them be. If we say it wrong so what thats how we say it. And what bridge are you talking about? and the Americans that came to live in Greece studied that alphabet for years.

  • Before a fraternity or sorority has their probate we have any where from 1-5months to learn it completely and we say it the way we were taught some eventually get better at pronunciation and some dont. it takes time...

  • @tlwright309 Sure it takes time..It's one of the most difficult language in the west civilization..But if you learn to speak greek you can express your self in a way that you could never imagine..I'm greek and I don't know very well the language because there are 4.000.000 or 5.000.000 words in it...The english language has 900.000. Can you see the difficulty?

  • Comment removed

  • @tlwright309 pathetic, why are you so obesed with greek letters? We in greece cant understand you .. πανέθεμά σας δηλαδή

  • @tlwright309 Err.. no offense but .. what if I pronounced the letter W "tah-ploo-yah-hoo".. Does that make it correct? Cause "in my country that's how we pronounce them?" :p that's the stupidest thing I ve ever heard. There IS a proper way of pronouncing it and if you want to recite the GREEK alphabet, you gotta do it the right way. Otherwise just make up your own alphabet and pronounce it the way you like.

  • @ElizaLazarou Thats your business I can care less! I said that's how we pronounce it here so I dont care if you pronounced it "fa-ka-la-pooh-zi" thats your business!

  • @tlwright309 well.. and I said that the way you pronounce it is wrong and stupid. it's simple. just like i would be stupid if I pronounced W as fakalapoohzi.

  • @tlwright309 You can care less? So you actually care? Or is this an other example of you choosing to use the language the way you want, regardless of what's the right way? Anw it's something insanely simple. Just like I can't make my own pizza and call it Pizza Hut, I also can't pronounce an existing language's alphabet the way I want. If you can't understand something that simple, I'm sorry for you. Wasted enough of my time on this already

  • @tlwright309 If I said that in MY country, 2+2 = 5, would that make it right? No. Facts are what they are, even if ignorant people get them wrong.

  • @tjhombs I'm American and I agree with you. They should be said correctly. Say it right or don't say it at all. I hate ignorance and laziness.

  • @ElizaLazarou How do you say the letter Z? Do you say it "zed"? Because that's what it actually is but most people say "zee"...

  • @brian8907 The english letter Z? We say "zed". But since english speaking people also call it "zee" at times, it wouldn't be wrong to call it that either. Calling it something that not even english ppl would understand though, would be wrong.

  • @ElizaLazarou To completely disregard accents (a basic part of culture) is unrealistic and, at minimum, ignorant. There are very few absolutes in this world.

  • @AcrobatHero I am not at all disregarding accents.. As a language student, though, I know the difference between "accent" and "pronunciation". I'm not criticizing their accents, eg how they say heavier Ts or more open As, as I know that that's part of their american/english accents. I was commenting on how instead of "yotah" or "taf", which are both not foreign sounds at all to american ears, they say "ah-eeh-oh-tah" and "tah-oo", which is just pure ignorance.

  • @ElizaLazarou lol im greek and they are pronoucing it rong a is AL-FA b is -VEETA NOT beeta WTF IS THAT ugh anyways im greek and i live in greece and sorry if my enlglish is not that good

  • @tlwright309 WOW. way to be just another culturally ignorant american. tisk tisk.

  • @tlwright309 Right - because Americans are so much smarter than the rest of the world...NOT! Maybe if Americans learned to do things the RIGHT way, they could actually make some claim to knowing something.

  • I have a question guys, well Im greek but i wonder why do u have to learn this alphabet in USA?

  • @LuSwGr a lot of fraternities/sororities make their pledges learn it.

  • sororities/fraternities .
