If you want to learn more about this subject, and get better at talking to people, I suggest you read How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. It's a very good book, and you will benefit alot from it, especially if you have a job where talking to people is a big part of it.
He can preach to people all he wants but sometimes he's not credible."Other people are always more interesting than oneself" oh really Mr Fry. Then he criticises"unsuccessful people"i.e -not him-. And why are they unsuccessful? They talk about themselves all the time! What arrogance of Stephen Fry.He even did a biographical program about his Manic Depression. And a program digging into his family tree. But no he doesn't talk to himself and he thinks everybody else is more interesting than him BULL
@bolius1 His critique does only apply to a certain group of people. I don't think he's implying it's a single cause of all the suffering in this world.
what group? what are you talking about? cause of all suffering in the world? who said that? what are you on about? I think you have another video in mind.
@SaerdnaOoOoo He starts off with successful and unsccessful people. I mean all people who are not successful don't strive to become successful. But pretty much every one wan't to have a life with out misery. And the only cause of everyone not living in misery isn't their own negativety. It has to do with circumstances in many cases. Successful people tell them selves otherwise to shrugg off the fact that they are also quite lucky very fortunate. Stephen might not be such a case but I'm not sure.
@bolius1 You sort of misunderstood the logic of the point. Him saying that people who are unsuccessful are so because they talk about themselves is not him being hypocritical because it doesnt mean that people who talk about themselves are unsuccessful, necessarily. Agree or disagree on whether either is true but its just one of those things like a doop is a roop but a roop is not necessarily a doop
@bolius1 i think he's talking in terms of navigation thru one goal to the other, rather than the creation of the goal itself. naturally, something one creates would resolve in some way around the creator because it's all they have to reference from. so as much as alot of stephens works are about himself (autobigraphys, documentarys..) i think you'll find that 'in person,' he is a very selfless man, which gives him the power to create such things.
I think you misunderstood him a bit. Anyway they say you only hate things in other people. That you yourself do more often then them.
Besides that peepz wanted to read about him. It's probably, because of that reason that he wrote both books. [I haven't read them. I only want to give some open minded]
You get better in what you do daily. So if talk about yourself in a negative way EVERY single DAY. You are re-writing and growing your brain LITERRALY to do so.
excellent advice Mr Fry!

It is a bit of an irony to put forth this subject, however correct, while wearing the logo for the iCompany.

I was more unaware of how much you believed in them.

@oleanderbrew Stereotypes don't spontaneously appear from the aether. Often they capture a statistically significant pattern.
