Written in, but it makes sense after watching this clip. And what about toad or Sabertooth? Personally, I think they just follow directions and aren't completely on the inside. He obviously can get into Sabertooth and toad's minds, but possibly Magneto did not tell them where they were going next or maybe they don't know?

These movies were always very average in my opinion. I feel like of the original trilogy, X2 is easily the best, but even it was just kinda good. This was ook and the third was bad. Wolverine also blew. The thing that kills me is that they should've been better. X-Men 3 had an amazing story it was just badly executed and this movie is too slow with no payoff. Wolverine had a good concept that just got too muddled. There was no point to half the characters.
All right, here's a question, why didn't Professor X simply have one of them take off Magneto's helmet? Then Professor X could control Magneto directly.

In the movie, Jean's powers are limited and she's very much a human with human speed. I also think it was Xavier who took over both Toad and Sabertooth, because Xavier is shown turning away the exact moment Toad does. I think Jean was just the person who drove Xavier there. I think it was that way in the novel, too.

She basically said she had trouble concentrating because her control was slipping and it can be guessed that the barriers put up to keep Phoenix in check were breaking down. So, no the movies did not contradict themselves. When Scott said that in the movie he was referring to the inconsistencies she was experiencing in her powers since the end of movie 1.

@pollotkd Magneto was helpless and not a threat to anyone when he was imprisoned. Why tap into his head then? I'm sure he would have gone into Magneto's mind to save Rogue and the hostages in this scene, and the other times when he was hurting people. Yes, he wants to convince Magneto to change for himself, but he also is a good guy who helps others when he can and the helmet plot device was a means to not allow him to do that.

As for the real story, the comics, Xavier is still alive and well and not only continuing his dream, but Magneto actually joined and helped lead the X-men for a time. Xavier's beliefs still continue to prevail.
last time I checked, Xavier is not leading mutants anymore. It's Scott Summers, Cyclops. And Cyclops turned away from "X-Men do not kill" principle when he reformed X-Force (mutant black ops killed squad) and sent them to kill all the enemies of mutantkind (Purifiers, The Right, Sapien League ets) before they could strike again.
And last time Xavier met Magneto, Magneto came in peace offering his help to Cyclops and Xavier attacked him using telepathy.

@AWickedMind Jean could take Magneto´s helmet off, but the point is that The Professor doesnt want to read or control Magneto´s mind with his powers, he wants Magneto to be a better person and understand that violence and hate against people is not good.
The Professor could have taken control of Magneto´s mind in the plastic prison at the end, but he didn´t, he told him peacefully to change and stop the war on humans.

@pollotkd Magneto was helpless and not a threat to anyone when he was imprisoned. Why tap into his head then? I'm sure he would have gone into Magneto's mind to save Rogue and the hostages in this scene, and the other times when he was hurting people. Yes, he wants to convince Magneto to change for himself, but he also is a good guy who helps others when he can and the helmet plot device was a means to not allow him to do that.

@pollotkd no he couldnt. magneto is a class 5 mutant. his experience at the holocaust enabled NO ONE to access his mind. the memories in there would kill you. dont forget that.

No matter how Magneto does his way of attaining his objective---even though they are a complete contrast to Charles'--- I still adore his friendship with the latter. That can be seen in The Last Stand. True friends...

@shinjide213 It takes more power to show control. Magneto, for all his cunning and intellect, is still a school bully with a gun, using it to get back at all those who picked on him. Xavier is the sniper on the top of the roof with the bead on Magneto's head. Though he does not want to pull that trigger, he can, anytime he wishes to. It is because he believes Magneto can do better, he doesnt pull the trigger. As Magneto himself said "Xavier has done more for mutants than anyone can ever do."

@Nights1re After many years of constantly listening to inconsiderate swines like Senator Robert Kelly, I have absolute sympathy for Magneto's behaviour. Magneto has been patient- and to be honest he has already given non-mutants enough patience. With all Xaviers beliefs , in the end his own student Jean Grey, who obliterated him in physical form. Now all he is astral form.

As for the real story, the comics, Xavier is still alive and well and not only continuing his dream, but Magneto actually joined and helped lead the X-men for a time. In fact the last time Magneto and Xavier met, Magneto was about to be killed and Xavier stood up for his friend, battling, putting his own life on the line to save his friend. Xavier's beliefs still continue to prevail.

last time I checked, Xavier is not leading mutants anymore. It's Scott Summers, Cyclops. And Cyclops turned away from "X-Men do not kill" principle when he reformed X-Force (mutant black ops killed squad) and sent them to kill all the enemies of mutantkind (Purifiers, The Right, Sapien League ets) before they could strike again.
And last time Xavier met Magneto, Magneto came in peace offering his help to Cyclops and Xavier attacked him using telepathy.

@Nights1re I disagree to an extant. I feel Magento has more too him.Its more of a simple Malcom X to Martin Luther King comparison. Both have the same(ish) goal, but have radically different ways to get them.

@Nights1re except Xavier's vision never worked out .... He's not even the morally clean sexless being he appears to be in the movie that gives him godlike status and moral high ground . He's a human being with exactly the same stubborness in his beliefs as Magneto and a more hidden manipulative character . For all his degrees he seems clueless about human nature . Fear is a survival induced most basic reaction. standard humans and even bright one will always fear mutants .

@Nights1re look at how after centuries the same old hatred between jews and arabs , black and white , chinese and japanese can carry on even among so called elite . In the real world it's already an extremely delicate balance . Let's cut BS : it will never disappear and might get worse as the world grows more complex . Now imagine the same thing with god powered beings . It's just uncontrollable . If I were Magneto I would the exact same thing as in X2 . That's a thorough solution .

@shinjide213 I couldn't agree more. Magneto has always seemed the more powerful of the two, despite his lack of telepathic skills. He understands that there is nothing stopping mutants from world domination other than the X Men, who are traitors to all mutants. Magneto is a true mutant in virtually every sense of the word.
