God doesn't hate gay people he hates their lifestyle. and people in the church break my heart when they say that gay people dont belong in church. but God is a Holy God and does not tolerate sin.... period i know of a man in my church who was delivered from a homosexual lifestyle and its only through Jesus Christ that he was delivered.If you let God in your life He will change you and make you effective for His Kingdom. I recall when my father died on December 31, 1994, I was so grieved in my spirit, and as I sat in the parking lot of a major shopping mall waiting for my children to come out of the movie theater, I had the radio on, I began to cry, suddenly this song began to play. I know it was the Lord who had the radio DJ. to play this song in order to encourage me during this trial. Thank God Jesus Loves Us and He really Cares. What a Friend We Have in Jesus!! Very encouraging song.

"Changed", was the first Hawkins tune that I fell in love with. As a gay, black man, life aint been easy, but unlike a lot of men like me, I was able to stay the course and turn my life into something meaningful, irrespective of all the BS that I heard in church about how BAD gay people were. Now, the song has an ENTIRELY different meaning to me. Im no longer Christian..Im a Buddhist, but I still love Hawkins because his ministry ALWAYS preached LOVE, never HATE.

@MisterCrazyLegs I agree. I am black and gay with disabilities. I used to get beat up in school, in my neighborhood, and by my family for being "THAT WAY". I used to sing this song in the privacy of my room and cry because it held such meaning to me mentally, physically, and spiritually. I was the single reason I didn't take my own life. I love this song more now than ever.

I used to get physically and verbally assaulted daily by everyone including my family. The song was single reason why did not end my own life. @tiffshollo Walter was her husband, but they divorced and Tramaine eventually remarried. Tramaine still uses Hawkins as her last name. Most people know her as a part of the Hawkins family.
