  • Where is the love button, Holy SHIP!

  • Lover's Cross...I will never get tired of listening to this beautiful song.

The voice, harmonies and guitars picking are just awesome.

RIP Jim Croce and Marty Muehleisen.

  • Always reminds me of my childhood...my Dad could play every one of his songs...PERFECTLY...Merry Christmas Daddy..I miss you everyday..♥

  • @surrrrrrrfffxoxo76 Same here....it reminds me of growing up in the early 70's.

  • Great music always stands the test of time! That's why Jim and maurys music still touch our lives! Two men, two guitars and a bond that one else can ever match! They left us still amazed And wishing for more ! The unforgettable and unmatched talents lives on! Thanks Jim and Maury!

  • what an amazing artist taken from us way too soon his music touched souls... got me through my awkward teen years.. will always love hearing his voice sooooo soothing and HONEST

  • What a gem of a man and king of singing/songwriting. I just found out he only releaseased 3 albums!!!!! Each LP must havebeen like a greatest hits! Could you imagine what else he would have come up with??!! He had already written the greatest love song ever, (in my humble opinion), TIME IN A BOTTLE. Just a titanic talent that made the world a better place.

  • God we were blessed in the '70s! We had the hard rockers, the birth of Southern Rock with the Allman Brothers, and the singer/ songwriters like Croce, James Taylor, Carol King and others. When I hear this stuff it just brings back some awesome memories!

  • @ITALOVER2 I see. Thanks for the correction.

  • Love it, thank you so much for sharing this! His music is so beautiful

  • Thanks Max. So many great memories. Thanks Jim. Thanks Maury.

  • WORLD CLASS TALENT!!

  • I love him.

  • True talent shines through when a live version sounds nearly identical to a recorded version. They could play this 10 times and each would be the same. Their lives ended way too soon but they left a legacy of great music and a life of love with his wife.

  • Is this the best 'undiscovered' love song of them all? Got on my iPod and it brings a tear to the eye every time

  • @katrobrosi You may well be right.

  • Great remastering of a classic performance. Love all of Croce's songs. This was a standout !

  • I watched a docu on JC and I always thought he was hispanic only to find out he was like Serbian. Goes to show how we stereotype :o / . Not that it mattered. Hell, he could have been a martian and I would have still loved his songs. I often wonder where folks like Jim would be today. Would they still be making music? Would they influence songwriters of today to be more sensitive? Indeed, there are many out there now who want what Jim has. (has.)

  • @Thadesgal JC was not of Serbian but Italian-American descent. His melodic approach to music also is a reminder of the Italian influence. Although motivated by his wife Ingrid to play country and folk music together, when this Italian-American mix matured in his mind his star shone immediately. Of course, Maury helped significantly in this with his great talent, but it was Jim who took the lead having the confidence of being able to communicate directly with the audience.

  • @maxstratos Does it really matter?

  • My daddy used to play this on the guitar when I was little. It was strange the first couple times to hear this and Alabama Rain in the original version because I was used to my dad and his guitar. haha Definitely the way to break up with someone who was terrible to you. Or at least the classy way with a catchy melody.

  • @ExitSiign

It's funny you said that about breaking up, because believe it or not, I left this song on a guy's voice mail to break up with him, and he deserved it. Sad to say, I later took his sorry ass back, but it felt wonderful playing this song for him. What incredible lyrics - baby, I can't hang upon no Lover's Cross for you. Genius. His songs are classics.

  • the good ones always die before their time... i listen to all jim's old songs and wonder what other beautiful creations his brilliant mind could have come up with, and it makes me sad.

  • This song is a message about his death.

  • @poopyscoopy5

    And the message came true.

  • Class just pure class.

  • a life ended way too soon.he wrote the best love songs ever written.i miss what you wre and what you would have become.RIP word man.

  • jim croces death handed jim taylor a career.

  • One of Maury's best lead guitar acompanyments. He was the spice to Jim's songs, live and in the studio. And Cheeta's right; no other artist has ever brought more cred to Jim's songs than the man himself.

  • i always remember my long lost love!

  • This is the nicest breakup song ever. Well, this and "One Less Set Of Footseps". This reminds me of a Bowie quote, "where there's trouble there's poetry."

  • Its Borat

  • hahaha.

I'm a big fan of Croce, but I thought that too when I saw this video!

  • Yeah he is a good singer, and I'm glad you can see where I am coming from.

  • "it'sBorat"

    ~grin~

Yes, but J.C. had a beautiful soul, I don't know that I'd say the same of Borat.

  • Have you met both in person?

  • why oh why they dont make music like this anymore, the lirycs the guitars, just one piece of art ,miss the 70s

  • Look at those Ovation Guitars . Jim Played a Martin. and maury also.

thanks for posting and the lyrics.

    thanks for youtube.

  • Ah, those beautiful eyes. Thanks for posting.

  • Truly one of the artists that no one would really ever say someone can do more justice to the songs he writes then he can.

  • damn!!! why couldn't i sing like that!!

Jim is one of a kind! Soulful and you can see it in his eyes while singing... really straight from the heart..
