  • I love this song and the way Ronnie did it! Go to my video " genopopcorn " and give a listen to my arrangement with Roland Synth guitar and vocal of this wonderful song! thx : ) geno

  • This one's for you, Sue. . .

  • Awesome man Ronnie...such great sounds from his voice

  • 5 people are a sad song.

  • I've always loved this song.

  • I usto listen to this song as a child still love it

  • From the softness of the piano keys to Ronnie's soft voice, this is one of those songs that had just the right combination of sound and talent to be a classic.

  • "Now my broken heart cries for you each night" - This song is so sad, just like the attraction that cannot be acted upon!

  • this song makes me cry

  • my husband passed in 2000 and this was are song-thank-you Michael-for the happy happy years darlin, Mary

  • This is a beautiful song. Thanks for the post!!!!

  • Ronnie is one of the greatest country music singers of the 70's and 80's with over 40 number one hits. Ronnie you are one of the greatest of all time after all that you have been through. First of all when you were a kid your mother gave up on you because you were blind and you went on to be one of the greatest singers in country music history. I love you Ronnie and always will. You are such a tallent.

  • i was a little kid when this stuff came out, but i still love it so much. I really wish there were more artists singing this way today but i guess the good times are really over

  • Once again Ronnie is awesome.

  • Another super sad beatiful love song of this era is Lebrance and carr "Falling"

  • @blackforest270 that is one of my favorites!! never get's old

  • For you Lisa..I Miss you everyday.

  • George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today" may be the saddest country song, but Ronnie Milsap's "It Was Almost Like A Song" is the saddest song in country, pop, rock, and R&B. It's a dirty shame Ronnie Milsap is not in the Country Music Hall of Fame, and maybe even the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because many of his songs crossed over from country to pop.

  • Lost for words, what a beautiful song..

  • jarenlang slechts delen en korte fragmenten in mijn hoofd gehad wist geen zangersnaam of verdere titel totdat ik via google ging zoeken en nu heb ik mijn allermoooiste lievelingslied teruggevonden gedeeld met John Miles ;music;

    jack The Netherlands

  • for you grandma

  • ...4 nicki

  • this song makes me sad. my ex showed it to me

  • this some--ol---gun can sang i like him

  • ronnie milsap has a voice like no other he can make you cry laugh and wonder all at the same time god bless ronnie and family keep up the great work

  • The BEST singer we ever had to have sunf for us all, Ronnir Milsap

  • @shemaedz , i meant , Best in the World to have ever sung his many songs for us, and play his guitar. fabulous, just loved this man for his songs and guitar

  • This is a beautiful song with lots of feeling. To hear this now still brings back very pleasant memories. Why can't they make music like this today? Ronnie I applaud you for such a beautiful love song!!!!

  • One amazing human being, Ronnie, wow.

  • Yes it is too sad to write my lifestory :(

  • January through December we had such a perfect year...And the flame became a dying ember, all at once you weren't here...

Ahhh...one day in love counts for a year, and one year out of it counts for less than a second. So my years before you are but seconds, and my year with you is my whole life...

  • @Nichrida nicely said

  • @Nichrida

That's a gorgeous line about seconds and years, Nichrida. Is it a quote from something or your own thought? It's just beautiful.

I've always loved this song (I know a Barbershop arrangement of it) and never knew it was originally a Ronnie Milsap song.

  • @MzkGrl nope, that's mine.feel free to use it anyway you want :) and yes it's an amazing song :D

  • @Nichrida

Thanks! I'm a big Ronnie Milsap fan so it was fun to discover this version of a favorite song.

  • This song reminds me of my husband who passed away 31 years ago.He was a good father and would have been such a good grandfather!! It brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it because I think of what could have been.

  • I remember loving this song when I was a little girl....my Dad had the tape.....and we would listen to it every time we were in the car......mostly cause I would beg and plead to hear it! I remember one year I got a pair of earmuffs for Christmas....and I pretended they were my radio....and I would walk around singing this song....sounds dumb.....but when a song touches you like this one does.....it sticks with you. Now, 20 years later.....I love it even more since I can appreciate its meaning.

  • @fpickles So true :)

  • Ive seen Ronnie Milsap twice and he's a REAL singer/songwrighter...He sings from the heart and writes with his soul...THIS is music, not the crap out there now..THANK YOU Mr. Milsap for telling it the way it is.

  • I reconnected w/ my 1st love in August after not seeing her for 18 yrs. Things were great for a while, but something happened. This song describes our relationship perfectly. "Then the flames became a dying ember, and all at once, you weren't here..." I love you Karla...I always have and I always will. No matter who comes along, there will be a piece of me that they'll never have because it belongs to you. You stole my heart 20 yrs ago...and I know I'll never get it back...

  • The first time I heard this song my mother was in the hospital in a COMA, I thought she would pull through, but it didnt happen. I love you and miss you mom!!!

  • @dixiedad67 My Mother had this recording on a greatest hits album of Ronnie Milsap when I was a kid-got in like 1980, I was 6. I thought my Mother would make it out of the hospital, too. This song tears my heart out, rips that scab right off. Sorry about your Mother, God Bless You.

  • I think this is one of the greatest "unrecognized as that" songs ever written. All I can say is: Man what a song. Man what an arrangment, and man,--------what a singer. Sincerely, Marc Trainor.

  • Great singer always

  • Incredible talent!

  • not enough actual videos of Ronnie singing with his band. Wish someone would find them and post them. Oh well, I'll still listen to that perfect voice.

  • I think in some point in our lives we all get our heart broken. It might be by a first crush, or a divorce and in a divorce it seems like one wants to stay and the other wants to go. It's heartwrenching especially when children are involved. I know because I am there now. The loneliness I face each day and going to bed alone and waking alone. Sometimes it's more than I can bear.

  • I really loved his music!

  • Gripe and bitch all you want but this song makes you recall all of those days of wine and roses. We all have been there and a few have survived, a few not but it makes you recall all of those good times and the love we shared with others. We go on anyway!

  • i love this song very much great ronnie great voice great words

  • y does everyone ruin a song makn it sad? rejoice not many beautiful things left! And the beautiful things u got take care of!

  • y does everyone ruin a song makn it sad? rejoice not many beautiful things left! And the beautiful things u got take care opf!

  • y does everyone ruin a song makn it sad?

  • almost makes u cry evey time u hear this song

  • wow this takes me back seems along time ago,asI think about what I was doing the first time I heard this song

  • Loved this song as a child. Little did I know how I would feel hearing it now that my marraige has followed the same way....

  • @Morphaleon be strong . please be strong ?

  • @alexalex939

Hanging in there. My kids are my strength.

    Thank you

  • Love this Ballad! That last note Ronnie sings is perfectly executed! It sends chills up my spine every single time I hear it! Truly a masterful musician! It's always very refreshing to listen to older artists like Ronnie and Perry Como and take a break from all of the pop artists of today. Being a relatively young man, I consider it a true gift from God to be able to listen to and appreciate songs like these. Call me old fashioned. In many ways I am. :D

  • This song has special meaning for me. It was the song that my 5 year old grand daughter would sing along with twenty years ago. The song and the moment bring tears to my eyes.

    Thank you Ronnie.

    Papa Tony

  • Although I am far from being young, I still remember, and still feel, the same things that I felt when I first heard this song. It reminds me of a young man named Jimmy Kilgore, my first love, I was only 15 and my parents wouldn't allow me to date. Although I have been deliriously happily married for 18 years, and have the best husband and greatest kids in the world, I still can't help but wonder, what if............ I will never hear this song without thinking of him.

  • i love this song it's like you can fell the emotion! it made me cry. it remindes me of the love me and my husband have!!!!

  • I hope the person that i am thinking of when i hear this song, is full of regret for the hurt and pain that they caused, and will someday come to regret ending things ! But, just wishful thinking i know !

  • LISTEN CLOSELY LADY T.......I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU

  • Ronnie is not to be taken lightly. He is as good as you're gonna get!

  • My dads dying ,,,, MY BESTFRIEND ,, DAD ,, NEVER WENT STAYED ... GOING TO MISS HIM//////

  • @TheLonndogg Been there done that. So sad, just when you think that the other person feels the same way you do you find out they don't. You feel like dying. You go to bed crying and wake up in a fog and the days seem to drag on. I hate that especially in the winter when it's cold out. I don't know what's wrong with our society we get married and the minute something doesn't work out we want a divorce. SAD!!!!

  • @TheLonndogg ... toatly agree 100% i am a tough s.o.b check out my fights ;) but this song was very moving....

  • Ronnie is a wonderful singer....his voice, his style are so unique. He deserves better recognition & respect.

  • Tara Ludeking, I still think about what we had.... but lies and deceit have no place in a relationship. you had me wrapped around your finger..... I wish you well... you've said you wont be back.... so ... Im moving on... its been a long year without you but Im gone.... good luck.....

    Dex

  • Hey Cindyns1...reminds me of growing up riding in the car with my dad too....

  • Beautiful!!...Flowing Melody ...Amazing voice!!! Hugs Jessie xxxxx

  • To my Dearest Viola I Loved You then and I still Love You...Wherever You are.

  • @RG4242421

I can appreciate this song also. I still sing this song out loud to the one that I LOST (?). May be "lost", never forgotten. I, in my heart, will never LOVE anyone as I do my Melina Bradette Foss. Be strong and keep your head high !

  • I don't know what it is. My Daddy seemed to try so hard to be hated. Young as I was, it was easy to go along with this, but when he got cancer and was dieing months later, I realized his sham and tried to show him my love. I don't know if he ever realized it or not. But I did. He died in 1999. I miss him so much.

  • @6silhouette5

He Realized It He Was A Father And They Know These Things!!

Feel Blessed That You Had His Feelings Figured Out...

Take Care And God Bless You...

    Country Girl

  • i was always impressed with ronnie and his music i was fortunate and backup sang for him when i was younger one of his main backup singers was sick and ruth one of his back up singers had me fill in for him his music and talent has helped me in so many ways

  • @bewitchedeyes6 I too was fortunate when I worked in Chattanooga at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo, we had converted the old ice skating rink to a concert arena and they booked a series of concerts with what I think was CMI out of Nashville and Ronny Milsap was one of the concerts, I was with maintenance and got to work setting up his equipment and stage items and got to shake his hand and when he came out onto the stage he looked out into the crowd and said what a beautiful audience we have here.

  • Written by Archie Jordan from my hometown of Aiken, SC. He grew up down the street from my dad.

  • This song fits so well with my life right now...Along with the Grand Tour by George Jones. I am only 16 years old, but 2 weeks ago I lost the love of my life....She was my entire world....Every word of this song holds true to the relationship I had with her....We dated for a year...A perfect year...It seems like just yesterday she was in my arms..and now she is gone....forever. Her love for me became a dying ember....I love you Lindsey.

  • Man Ronnie you got it so right this ones for my becky she knows what he means and so do i...

  • The first time i heard this song, i cn't help but to press the headset towards my ears so that i would feel ronnie's voice. Then to my surprise, teardrops fell unknowingly. CINDYNS, this song reminds me of my father,my superhero, my idol, my inspiration, my angel. So sad, i lost him so early but i could still recall memories of him. here i go i start to shed tears again.

  • @vergelsher me too cant help crying.. i will always and never ever forget my mom.. shes the best mom in the whole world.. she will always my mentor, great teacher.. happy mothers day mom...

  • my heart cries for u each night ily

  • The love of my life that this song and many others like it remind me of is Linda K.We fell in love in 1976 but I left to do my part in the military in 1977 and we were pulled apart by time and space. She always has been and always will be the one woman I will never stop loving or forget.

  • This is a wonderful song. once n every life someone does come along. I had it great for a while but i did not take a chance and wish now i would have. MR will always be the one.. i had a man who treat me like gold and would have done anything for me.. and i was too stupid to just go for it.. it would have been perfect.. i left him go so he could be with his family. i miss him everyday

  • SideNote: We also met Barbra Streisand at the University of Arkansas @ Little Rock,You think maybe they all hang out in Arkansas where they won't be recognized?..LOL...It was just a thought

  • In 1994 we sat the table over from Mr.Milsap in Browns Restaurant in Benton Arkansas,he was a nice man that we spoke to a couple of times as he overheard(he has GREAT hearing) bits of our conversation,he was kind, polite and really funny,I had absolutely no idea who he was,I have always regretted that,I was stunned when I found out he had that voice....It was like a brush with greatness.

  • Well, the section of this song that says, NOW MY BROKEN HEART CRIES FOR YOU EACH NIGHT, well that bit really does it for me, my partner who is now deceased at under 40 years of age. Ronnie was our music, we just loved him, we sat many times mesmerised by his voice watching his dvd

thanks ronnie, for touching my heart still alone without him, it helps me remember even when I think I'm starting to loose it

  • @trubluzedgirlie sorry but i meant to say i know how you feel. we ll see them again

  • Around 1979. THIS WOMAN and I got together, at the time, the most beautiful woman I had ever met, and stayed together for about 8 years, and two kids.

Killed me when we finished up. This is one of the songs we used to listen to.

  • what a great song!

  • I love this song...reminds me of my dad....when we would travel..this song would be playing on the radio...I know all the words by heart...and I was a very little gurl...I would sing my heart out @2:33NOW MY BROKEN HEART CRIES FOR YOU EACH NIGHT....Excellent Post!

  • great song tina, thanks for the share.

  • sometimes... we classify artists on the way they dressed up or the way they project their voices, and the instruments they used, but this song classified under "COUNTRY", but for me... maybe A LOVESONG>>> isn't it easy to classify the song the ways it was sung? or the lyrics... I don't know... maybe it's like in the movies... Adventure movie against action movie? or like matrix, is it action movie or science fiction movie... I don't know.

  • This might be a question, but I implore you YouTubers to answer; is this a country song? I don't really know how to define it.

  • What a gift to us listeners!!

  • The memories, yep.

    80 to 86.

  • one of the great love songs..brings back memories..thank you..

  • No one like this man!

  • this is one of those "welling up"songs :) ahhh memories.....

  • I love this song. Never knew who sung it till now.

  • Those sunglasses make him look like a Sleestack

  • @bigdsear he's blind

  • with all these tears running down my face, this is one perfect song!

  • Ronnie Milsap is one of the greatest country music singers of all time. For being blind and being able to play the Piano like he can. God bless you Ronnie and may God bless you forever. You are so talented. I will always cherish your music until the day I die.

  • To know, to love then to part is a sad tale of a human heart. However, it is better to have loved and lost than to never loved at all.

  • you know how songs brings memories, i for one usually hate country cross-overs but this song reminds me of when my dad and i use to drive to Antigonish a long drive and dad use to play this song alot and really i hated it but without knowing it i was the happiest in my life and now my broken heart cries out for my dad everyday and this song in a way keeps my dad alive in my heart, RIP Dad i will always remember you by this song brings back so much for me thanks for posting stevechinafan

  • @cindyns1 I'm glad your father was there for you, my dad died 4 yrs ago. he had mental illness and picked on me my whole life. I hated him much of the time, I even told him that I hated him for the constant abuse. But Im happy for you and your warm memories, count it a blessing we all dont have them.

  • @cindyns1

Antigonish ?? I am from around Halifax, Lwr Sackville to be exact, I used to hear Ronnie Milsap all the time! The memories...not so pleasant...most of the time, but the music was good.
