@guayx2 It is not based on looks from where u can conclude it is stealthy! It is the design look ate how it is designed to make radar waves bounce off the surface and go elsewhere! RAM is used where you cannot make the waves bounce and go else where! Eg- Below the HAL sticker at 0.45 that is the place where radio waves can bounce and reach the radar receiver from where it came as that portion is flat, so we coat that area with highly classified RAM coatings (multiple-layers)

I'm waiting for the medium and heavy versions. I'll be impressed by ADA and HAL only when Kaveri is on any plane. Other than that, i would say, public investment into those projects and institutions deserve more qualitative output in large quantities. @FoxhoundVnzla apache, cobra etc have service ceiling limitations with full weapon load. India has to fight over the Himalayas and this helicopter is specifically made for those conditions. India is also buying Apache. Every heli has its limitations.

yes, LCH have stealth feature. the design can't get better for this class, it has full glass cockpit, lcd displays. what you just saw is very first prototype so this is not a final product. rotors are upto the mark and there is nothing to complain about. LCH's empty weight is less than 3 ton which is very very good.
@rajkiran1982 Helicopters generate lift from rotors as you gain height the atmosphere gets thin and after certain height you can't get enough lift. In kargil like conditions in himalayas, if you have to have a heli at those heights yet carrying weapons load, light helis are better suited. Of course it can be used in other ground operations too.
less fuel consumption, less maintenance time, less maintenance cost, easy to operate.
u dont need a heavy attack helo with massive range and large weapons, for short distance operations like few hundred miles to strike jsut 4 or 5 targets.
But if the requirements arise for more weapans load and 1000's of miles of range, we have no option other than to swift to heavy class. but such large distance operations are mostly carried out by fighter jets.

Great to see the LCH nearing operational induction. The only question I have for the LCH is the defensive protection for this chopper both active and passive. It appears to have alot of glass/perspex and are these capable of withstanding hits from 23mm rounds? LCH will be only as good as its ability to withstand enemy reaction to its presence.
@utubekhiladi the standard Chicom AA guns come in 23mm calibre. Quite a few in paki inventory.The US has made the Apache AH64 resistant to hits by this calibre ammo. Cheers. The Indian military also operates 23mm AA guns.

@FoxhoundVnzla apache, cobra etc have service ceiling limitations with full weapon load. India has to fight over the Himalayas and this helicopter is specifically made for those conditions. India is also buying Apache. Every heli has its limitations.

yes, LCH have stealth feature. the design can't get better for this class, it has full glass cockpit, lcd displays. what you just saw is very first prototype so this is not a final product. rotors are upto the mark and there is nothing to complain about. LCH's empty weight is less than 3 ton which is very very good.

@rajkiran1982 Helicopters generate lift from rotors as you gain height the atmosphere gets thin and after certain height you can't get enough lift. In kargil like conditions in himalayas, if you have to have a heli at those heights yet carrying weapons load, light helis are better suited. Of course it can be used in other ground operations too.

less fuel consumption, less maintenance time, less maintenance cost, easy to operate.
u dont need a heavy attack helo with massive range and large weapons, for short distance operations like few hundred miles to strike jsut 4 or 5 targets.
But if the requirements arise for more weapans load and 1000's of miles of range, we have no option other than to swift to heavy class. but such large distance operations are mostly carried out by fighter jets.

Great to see the LCH nearing operational induction. The only question I have for the LCH is the defensive protection for this chopper both active and passive. It appears to have alot of glass/perspex and are these capable of withstanding hits from 23mm rounds? LCH will be only as good as its ability to withstand enemy reaction to its presence.

@utubekhiladi the standard Chicom AA guns come in 23mm calibre. Quite a few in paki inventory.The US has made the Apache AH64 resistant to hits by this calibre ammo. Cheers. The Indian military also operates 23mm AA guns.
