The road situation is similar as there are speed limits and rules but they're more just "guidelines" and the police are too laid back (and busy having espressos and picking up chicks in their Fendi designer uniforms) to enforce much as long as you're not hurting anyone. Much higher speeds and smaller gaps are considered safe here. If you drive a fast or exotic car they often ask you to floor it a bit, because they like that, lol.
