I too moved to Glencoe from Evanston so that my children could experience a New Trier and Glencoe education. I think that it is fabulous. The only thing I would change about Glencoe is how snooty it is. I would prefer it have an attitude similar to Wilmette.
I chose Wilmette because it didn't seem to have a "North Shore attitude." It's been a great place to live, and so was Kenilworth where I also spent 5 years. I never considered Glencoe (too far north), and ruled out Winnetka because it seemed to an outsider to have an attitude about having money.
Now that I know a bit more about Winnetka, I'd say that the attitude isn't as pervasive as it seemed to an outsider.
I moved to Wilmette when my kids were 3 and 4 so that they could some day attend New Trier High School - so you're asking the wrong guy.
I think the ladies have it right, though. Glenbrook North is also an excellent school and New Trier isn't right for every kid. Some people send their kids to Loyola, North Shore Country Day, etc. for similar reasons.
why did you drive by my house...

Why would someone choose Glenbrook North over New Trier. That seems like a no brainer. New Trier over anything in Chicago.
