  • Many of these guys don't even use C & J technique. It's more like power clean and press. Old time strength, always fun to watch. Now did these barbells have rotating collars?

  • so glad to see these videos of my grandpa ! great job , thanks for sharing

  • @lynmch Is Norbert you Granpa ?

  • I really wish they hadn't taken out the overhead press. Good times.

  • this footage is incredible

  • What a nice vid. Real strongmen in a time where doping wasn't an issue.

I also want to say that the music is really very good, who is the composer?

  • @Niekdiehard the music is Nimrod from Enigma Variations by Elgar.

  • What a nice job. Thank you for contributing this. The press does look dodgy. Interesting the frequency of split snatches.

  • Yury Vlasov legend of world sports

  • SCHEMANSKY RULES !!!!!

what treasures these old videos are , Thanks again and again , Frank ..

  • The English guy who finished in last, apparently not having made a successful C&J attempt, played Darth Vader in the original 'Star Wars' movies. James Earl Jones supplied the voice, but David Prowse wore the costume and engaged in light saber fencing. David was well over 2 meters tall, so he had no business being an Olympic weightlifter to begin with.

  • It's interesting how the athletes power clean during the press portion but do full cleans prior to the jerk.

The weights are understandably lighter so I guess why tire yourself out doing full cleans when you have the ability to do power clean?

  • i think the thigh brush rule may have applied but im not sure

  • norb should have won...the judges passed vlasov's double dip on his c&j...
