Africa is in the midst of a renaissance of some sort. African artists are travelling the world, picking up bits of their culture that have taken roots elsewhere, bringing it back to Africa and giving it new life. A culture without art has little to offer the world and little reason to exist. Music is serious business, like medicine. Medicine is supposed to make you feel better in the end. Music can be medicine for souls, and the griots of Africa are true doctors of the spirit.
