  • Do you have any video about Pui O in lantau? I heard from an elderly lady that it used to be attacked by pirates back in the days and then they used Pui O as their hiding places as well. Thank u!

  • @lynnazur88 I do not recall having visited Pui O. All my vids about Lantau are to be found by searching with: michael+rogge+lantau

  • This video bring back childhood happy memories.

  • This video bring back childhood happy memories.

I have been to all these places. Thanks for the memories

  • Long before the bronze seated buddha & tourism took over the island.

  • Michael.....you should a treasure to HK and HK people.....!!

  • Police station located at middle of the hill just above the ferry pier. One more structure should be a naval observation post. If you take a ferry back to HK island you will easy to locate it. ( An impression made 25 years ago ).

  • I also failed to realize the first time around that 1:29 is the untouched Chek Lap Kok island. Stunning to see it in it's virgin form and I would bet that this clip is a rarity in that respect.

  • Is it Tai O?

  • Yes, part of it was taken in Tai O (crossing the river) but the rest on the way to the Po Lin Shi monastry.

  • Thanks a lot! I'd like to know if you got any video/photos about Tai O Police Station? Thanks a lot!

  • Sorry, all I have about Tai O is in my clips.

  • I see, thanks a lot and your video did capture the valuable moment of Hong Kong. Thank you so much!

  • I just visited Tai O. I'm from N.Y. and I wanted to ask the police some questions. I didn't get to the actual police station but I saw it on the map. Neat town.

  • People of Hong Kong thank you Michael very much from the bottom of our hearts. You have done such a great job keeping memories of old Hong Kong..

  • Just wanted to say a BIG thank you for posting these amazing archival vids ... I dont live in HKG but always appreciate snippets fm the past.

  • Wow ! These are REALLY vintage footage of Lantau Island. I guess even before the Yaumati Ferry service to Tung Chung from Hong Kong Island one service every two hours ! I still remember the good old days school picnic to Mui Wor and Guai Pei Wan.We often made jokes sending someone to Chi Ma Wan. I can still remember !

Thanks for uploading these most precious footage of the long almost forgotten past .

  • Fantastic work! I live in Tung Chung and it's great to see how the neighborhood used to look w/o highrises and jet planes. Good that one thing hasn't changed... the ancestors of those water buffalo are still wandering the hills.

  • I have hiked up there a bit, but I never got to see the water buffalo., I saw some evidence of them on the trail beneath the cable car line though.

  • If you go up to Po Lin now you will see some for sure. They know where all the action is.

  • Great!!

    thanks

  • damn i live here

  • when ?

  • now lol.. looks like mui wo to me

  • No, it was me, Michael Rogge. Of course there was no video at the time. It was taken with an obsolete 9,5mm movie camera (Pathescope)

  • fantastic? who was the videographer, a relative?

  • Rare footage indeed - not a cement mixer in sight...

  • where is silvermine bay in the clip? please help

  • Excellent. Lantau was so beautiful. Really don't understand how much more HK people fucking up the environment before they can satisfied.

  • @holoy999

Because of fxxking Lee Ka Shing and other property developers

  • do you have something more about silvermine bay

  • It has great memorial value, thank you for posting !

  • gtreat !
