While conventional injection systems afreshing generating fuel pressure for every injection, the new CDI engines do have a common rail which dispenses the fuel under constant pressure to the magnetic injection valves. In 1998 the 220 CDI is supplemented by a power reduced version.
The 200 CDI succeed the C220 with prechamber diesel engine. (3:57)

This car still makes me happy when I drive it, I own one since it was new, and it still feels as good as ever.
Only problem I ever had was a faulty transmission.
