Did you guys take that muffler apart to mod it? or did you buy a kit that had to be put together and welded ? Beisdes glasspacked ones to repack, I havn't seen them come apart like that b4.... That would be pretty cool if they had kits though so you could make it as short or long as you want and put different angles on the ends and stuff.. Cool car though guys!
@spsickfastsupra We make the mufflers from scratch. The packed part is stainless turned off a soild bar. The mid muffler is straight through with stainless packing, the rear is a three chamber muffler we designed for max flow minimum noise. We have used this same type on NA pp race engines with excellent results. This Rx7 was 86db @ 5000 rpm no load when tested for cert.
@xr400forlife If the engine is in good shape when you get it no problem. Compression test or leak down good indication. Easy to start hot and cold. As reliable as piston engine. If engine has been rebuilt and any minor harmonic vibrations are felt mix and match parts may have been used without correct balancing worth avoiding. If ported may not be so reliable. Done incorrectly can cause excessive wear to side and apex seals not to mention a tendency to over rev .
i always thought a shiny finish was better, you think it will flow smooth, but after pulling down my mild ported 13b and noticing it had a rough finish, i found out that a slightly rough finish is better
@wild13bt Only on the intake ports. It helps keep the fuel/ air mix suspended but the exhaust ports shoudl b mirror polished this gets rid of all teh scratches and places for carbon to build up in them, it lets everything slip right out alot better.. Also works well on the tops of pistons to prevent carbon buildup
