  • Very clever and it shows lots of good grace and good humor; one of the finer moments for "Youtube," thank goodness!

  • this dance and routine was to me before its time,, words cannot explain how good this is.

  • I remember watching these on Saturday mornings...Hardy of course was always falling down and tripping over things. But of course it was all an act because if you watched enough of their movies you'd see scenes like this when he danced. he was a very good dancer.

  • Great work!!!

  • Amazing, how did you do that. I LOVE IT!!!

  • Never get tired ov watching them the best there ever woz by far. Stan the man of hawick

  • Great!!!

  • Later in the film, when Stan and Olie sang "In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia", Stan's deep voice was provided by none other than the guy who later became a well known cowboy actor, Chill Wills. He was, of course, also in the singing group in this wonderful Laurel & hardy dance routine. They were getting work, at the time, as The Avalon Boysi

  • very funny

  • I just watched a documentary on TV about the atrocities of the German Wehrmacht (yes, they too) on Russians, French and Jews, and the attempt that Von Stauffenberg et al. made on Hitler in 1944. There are few things you can do afterwards to brighten up; I chose not to listen to Bach, but to watch this clip of Laurel and Hardy.

  • Eliminate quel pirla che rovina tutto!!! Maledetto...

  • Beautiful. Which software you have used? thanks

  • @PEANTONG Testy, eh? Pity....

  • Great being from Stan laurels hometown of Ulverston :O)

  • however, if you watch carefully, you'll notice that the boys brought 2 jack-ass's with them as it looks in the beginning.

  • ummm dude, no... just NO!! Don't mess with perfection. Like they say, 'don't quit your day job', 'kids don't try this at home', leave it to the professionals', and on and on and on.

  • Way Out West my absolute favourite Laurel & Hardy movie. Total genius that has not been matched or bettered and never will!

  • TIMELESS

  • The guy who tried to do this funny dance with Stan and Babe..he'll never top what Mr.Billy Crstal did with this classic scene for "The Comic Relief Telethon".

  • inocent comedy. noone died, had an afair or swore in every other word. slapstick inocent comedy.

  • Find me talent like this in hollywood today!!! wont happen.

  • THE SONG IS CALLED "AT THE BALL, THAT'S ALL" AND WAS WRITTEN BY J. LEUBRIE HILL AND IS SUNG BY CHILL WILLS AND THE AVALON BOYS. THE MOVIE IS "WAY OUT WEST"

  • My Uncle showed me this last week, Remember watching this when I could barely crawl. Awesome.

  • Awesome!

One of my fave clips too.

    Well done!

  • i love how movies in them days utilized every bit of available talent. it was a far more efficient way of entertaining an audience. that movie edit you did was actually quite good. i bet L&H would have liked it. i certainly did

  • Der Mann tanzt mit Laurel und Hardy sieht aus wie ein Idiot und retard, LOL. :-D

  • Ils etaient vraiment géniaux , il n'y a personne qui les a égalé , des vrais pros .

  • absoloutly legend, they will be loved forever :)

  • Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • does anyone know the name of the singing group here???

  • The Finest Comedy we can find on Earth !!!!

  • The cowboy who sings 'Boa boa boa boooa' indeed resembles a cow.

  • Heavens to Murgatroid! What a delight! My favorite L&H routine! And snazzy special effects...KUDOS, sir! The quality of the picture in your clip is the BEST I've seen here at youtube. Many of today's so called "comics" could learn a thing or two from L&H...there were proof positive that one doesn't have to be vulgar or use profanity or sex to be funny. THANKS for sharing this awesome clip with us! :)

  • 1 of the best scenes :)

  • @buddybleau the guy making the weird noise's or the guy messing with his hands?

  • nice hardcore dancing by laurel and hardy

  • Nice! Thanks for doing this! Tasteful edit of yourself in the dance, not overdone. I really enjoyed it.

  • I'm an old timer and I recognize one of the singers. I had no idea he went that far back, but he has played in many westerns. Never as a singer, but a cowboy. It was always a supporting role. It's the fellow singing base. He is on the right of the screen. His name is Chill Wills. Unbelievable! A great actor. At the beginning, you will see a close-up of him.

  • @buddybleau - Thanks Buddy - I remember this actor/singer too from old movies (I'm 44 but loved watching the old stuff when it was available as a kid) - Chill Wills was always a favorite of mine but I never knew his name....now I won't forget it xxxx

  • @Lotusblossom1967 I am a lot older than you, 71 and these old movies bring tears to my eyes. Thanks for the comment. By the way, I was a professional musician for many years. I'm from New Orleans, La.

  • Two's company, three's a crowd! Maybe been better if u actually kept in sync with their moves! Them 2 are legends, will always make me laugh :-)

  • 1:42 laurel kicked that person up his ass

  • Love the song. That must have been hard to put yourself in there. Thanks for the laugh.

  • too bad... if you had actually synched with them, it might have been clever... but Crystal already did it...

  • @billybrooklyn I think this IS the Billy Crystal clip---the one that played on the Oscars. Isn't that Billy?

  • The best of all he US comedians of all time! They were in the very early years of cinema and are still the gold standard. You never once heard them curse in their films or try to subterfuge the United States. They were never leftist leaning outspoken hyppriotical critics of a country that made them rich like the S*** penns of today. they never tried to mock God (God can never be mocked) or do harm to the God given institution of Marriage between one man and one woman.

  • @kumasie01 stan laurel was english btw

  • Brilliant

  • why spoil this with adding yourself to this great classic!..

  • I just noticed, that business in the background is not really there either, right?

  • @rustydog1236 , you're right, I think. At 2:31 the background suddenly changes into a saloon. But what a sublime performance! Zen and the Art of Movie Acting.

  • I guess you washed your shirt in one of those "whiter-than-white" detergents.

  • The music is fun and the dancing is absolutely fantastic! Watch it, you'll see.

  • Very clever, and good fun too!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • This beats DANCING WITH THE STARS!

    Merci.

Thank you Dyslexic Crusader for posting

    Thank you Bobchai for sharing.

  • I know its just a bit of fun, but it just feels wrong.

  • this song provides such a pleasant feeling of warmth, the kind only original black/white movies can provide..... this scene is just lovely!

  • Only BLACK/WHITE movies can provide this kind of MUSIC? That doesn't really make sense, does it? ;P

  • cute guitarist

  • Laurel and Hardy's dance is there all the way. Glad you had fun.

  • Nice job on the mix....but you are WAY out of step with laurel and hardy!!! Still great job!

  • Take the fool out who ruined he pure perfection of Laurel and Hardy!

  • Ok...I have to admit, that was pretty awsome!!!

  • It's actually pretty clever and your cinemgraphic sense was also quite good; you at first didn't follow the steps, then you did, they you had the good grace to leave at "the right time."

Do you know where they got the rear-view projection from?

  • I saved this to my playlist because it's the only full clip I've found on here. The music was great, and Stan and Ollie amazing!

  • AWESOME!!!! 5*

  • Great Work..very creative..any more like this??

  • Hilarious!!! Well done

  • I remember watching Billy Crystal do that on the Oscars one year. Think it was in 1991. He edited himself in the clip. (Hal Roach was in the audience, too)

  • bought 21 dvd's of laurel and hardy the other day. funny stuff

  • KUDOS! This was delightful to watch! You have gotten my New Year off to a grand start! Excellent effects....this is my favorite musical/dance number from the Laurel & Hardy films. They were so light on their feet. The greatest comedy duo in all of cinema history. THANKS so very, very much for sharing it with us. :)

  • Bravo!!!

  • how did you do that lol

  • Try "New Gold Dream Remix" for a different take on this!!!

  • great... I dont like the edited versions... Leave these gentlemen be ! the original one is the only one !!

  • Damn straight!!

  • Gracias por compartir su tesoro felicidades Ellos eternamente mis idolos simplemente unicos

  • Not bad, edited yourself in well, but your timing is out and you are too small next to Laurel and Hardy. Nice first try, though!!

  • I thought this was going to be bad but was pleasantly surprised. You put a lot of work into this and it pays off.

Of course you are helped by the fact that this an all time classic routine by the funniest comedy duo ever which never grows old.

  • i never understood this sense of humour :)

though people like them so i give 5/5 :D

  • greatest of all time

  • love it

  • Legends,...... Kings of Comedy!

  • Jump cut at 2.50. They almost made it to the end perfectly but right at the last there it had to be edited. Apparently Stan and Ollie spent ages rehearsing this so it didn't come easy to them and I suppose they didn't want to waste anyone's time when they had 97% of a perfect take in the can.

  • I always thought those little jumps were just because it was the 30's xD

  • Fabulous!!

  • einzigartig gut.....

  • Such gentle comedy-done without words or dialogue. Nothing forced. Just the utter skill and professionalism of two greats

  • Who IS that young actor playing the guitar !!!!!!!

  • i think its james mason.

  • It is an actual quartet from that time period, known as "The Avalon boys", comprising (had to Google this bit) Chill Wills (bass) Art Green, Walter Trask and Don Brookins. I have all the films starring Laurel and Hardy on video (not DVD, shows my age) and much to my wife's annoyance, do watch them now and then. Great fun, and hope that helps... all the best.

  • The group doing the singing were known as the Avalon Boys. The lead singer, doing the yodeling, is Chill Wills, who went on to have a long acting career. The other three members were Art Green, Walter Trask, and Dan Brookins. Chill Wills broke up the group in the late 1930"s to persue a solo career. There is a current group known as the Avalon Boys, but they are no where near as good as the originals.

  • totally love them!

  • I like the way Chill Wills just stares back at them(2:56) like "I don't believe it" -lol.

  • Thanks so much. Others left out the first part of Chill Wills. He sure was young. The whole family loves this clip.

  • u dnt do it at same time

  • 2 words , comedy legends.

  • agree totally, timeless legends!

  • @zzyoman Two words-Standard-bearers, or is that a single compound word.

  • No it was written in 1905 and is called 'At the ball that's all'.

It was used in a 1913 film too.

Chill Wills is a bass singer not baritone. I sing in the theatre and an a baritone. He's good eh.

Goggle the song, you can get the lyrics.

  • Was this an established song of the time, or was it specifically written for the film?

  • Just incredible the whole thing, music, singers, Stan and Oliver. Thank you for posting this Dyslexic Crusader.

No comedy team has touched them yet, and maybe never will.

  • Kool :)

Please tell me how you edited it please and i will even subscribe and eerything if you tell me please

  • Good Job, how about putting Obama as the dancer or Hillary. You are great.

  • wow this brings back memories i loved these guys. STILL DO lol

  • Hahah! great work!

  • What about the great baritone voice of Chill Wills?

  • hahahhahahahaa this is soo good :) love it brilliant work XD laurel and hardy are legends

  • LMAO, I liked it thnx Dyslexic and thnx for using the original music

  • Pure genius!
