  • Dude, what amp did you use?

  • @doom666kratos That was a Marshall AVT150 half stack dry with no FX through the matching AVT cab my good sir :D.

  • Still can't get those. I need a proper amp and better guitar. I'm wanting to get a Dean 79 MLF one of these days. I just need a stronger amp too. I can kinda do divebombs but not Dimebag style.

  • I have that same guitar, good guitar for the price but they could have done a better job on the finish, mine started to peal after about a year.

  • Very good lesson dude, thanks for the help! :)

  • awesome dude, thanks

  • @s3by666 No problem sir. Glad ya liked it!

  • For some reason I cant get my squeals to sustain. They dont last nearly as long as Dimebag's....

  • What you need to pull this off:

    1) A double locking tremolo (Attached to a guitar)

    2) An amp that has enough gain to ring clear and articulate squealies

  • Thank you

  • Pretty sad that all these haters just can't enjoy the music, appreciate somebody helping out a less skilled player, or just paying respect to a legend. Before you bag on this, move outta mom's basement, fuckboy. So what if squeals are easy? Nice post, dude.

  • @dg082306 +10000 man. I'm glad we agree man. Thanks for the appreciative comment!

  • What the hell is a tremolo? Also do I need a metal oriented guitar for this? I have a fender strat but a pretty good amp.

  • @JakedaSnake747 tremolo is the whammy bar

  • @TikinhoKun hahah Thanks for checking out the video man! I just checked yours out and wish I hadn't :)

  • nice bls shirt ;)

  • @PatiG001 Thanks man! Gotta love some BLS!

  • do u need a wammy bar to squeal

  • @xWorthTheRiskx Not if you're in West Virginia...Otherwise, for this kind of squeal, yes. There are also pinch harmonics (I have a lesson for that as well) that do NOT require a whammy bar, but also sound very different.

  • Nice stuff.

  • @megadethifyify Thanks man; glad ya liked it! Be sure to subscribe for more metal goodness in the future :D

  • You actually can catch harmonics in between frets... You do not have to be directly over one! I get my best (and highest ones) about 1/3 and 2/3 between the second and third frets and the very highest 2/3 up between the first and second... Jus sayin....

  • @VapidButchery You're right man! Dime's most signature one is between the 2nd and 3rd as you mentioned. This is a lesson though that assumed mostly beginning would be trying it, and I tried to keep it as easy as possible just to get the technique down. The ones between frets are significantly more difficult to catch on a regular basis.

  • @chuckmehh .... Yes they are! I have gotten them now to where I can catch the super high ones about 90% of the time but that took a good month or more of just doing squeals every day for half an hour of more! People seem to think that if you get a guitar with a floyd it is on but in reality it takes a lot of practice! I was very pissed when I got my first floyd cause I thought it would all come easy!

  • Just got a Razorback a couple days ago. First guitar with a tremolo and I've been practicing this technique like mad! I've been doing it a bit differently but your way seems to work a bit better. Thanks!

  • dude calm ya farm i can do it now on a stratocaster no need to go fucking balistics what is wrong with youtube ppl it seems like they all have anger issues

  • @iamdjdean Me? I'm confused haha

  • "put your finger over the metal bit"..its called the fret wire...you should know these things!

  • @100myjoel haha I'm aware of that good sir....But if somebody watching it didn't know, isn't it less confusing to say what I said?

  • Your gear sounds really great, man!

  • @NipplesMagee I appreciate it good sir! I do take pride in my gear

  • can i only use a standard whammy bar(not a flyod rose i mean)

  • @jojothe666 You can, but you won't be able to get it quite as well and you will likely also put your guitar out of tune after one attempt. But, to practice the technique, it would be fine.

  • @chuckmehh dude where u from down south?

  • @ArmyRangerish I'm actually from Pennsylvania hahah

  • @chuckmehh ohh i live in nazareth pa u know where martin guitars r made but it sounds like u have an accent my parents are from south carolina lol

  • @ArmyRangerish That's sweet man; I never even knew Martins were made in PA! Cool deal. And I get the accent thing a lot actually, not sure why! My parents are from PA as well (Pittsburgh area) but we live in the country now--maybe that has something to do with it?!

  • can i only use a standard whammy bar(not a flyod rose i mean)

  • @AOSoloist Damn I remember not being born for another 5 years in 1986 too. That's nuts.

  • what guitar r u using my good sir

  • gaaa cant do it with a shitty strattocaster im gettin me a dimebag razorback

  • @iamdjdean dude im using a fender too.....so fucking retarded, i should have just saved up a bit more money to get a better gear.

  • @kinsmon123 Fenders are good guitars, just not for this! haha

  • @chuckmehh learnt this the hard way.....definitely coming back to this video when I get better shit xD

  • @kinsmon123 hahah No worries brother! It will be here :D

  • Man, ive been wondering about this for ages!!!! Thanks a lot

  • @Utubepooperful not a problem bro! Subscribe for more vids in the future :D

  • what kind off amp are you using on this video????

  • @RadialJugernot It's a Marshall AVT150 half stack in this video. No effects at all, just straight from guitar to amp :D

  • Wouldn't Dime use his Digitech Whammy to make his dive's sound higher pitched? More divebombs have more sustain than others so that questioned me

  • @SilentDestruction900 I don't think he used his Whammy pedal much to increase the pitch of his harmonics but I'm honestly not sure. I think a Whammy pedal would make them unrealistically high, almost robotic. I think his higher ones with more sustain were just instances of him catching them well between the 2nd and 3rd frets.

  • @chuckmehh The Digitech Whammy, I believe, only has settings for one or two octaves up or down. I use my amp settings for one octave up. It sounds like when I use it with the 5th fret harmonic, it matches one that would be made on the 2nd fret but lasts longer. Mine on the second fret don't last long really. On live versions of "Fucking Hostile" his dive's last FOREVER man. I like go into this state of eargasm when I hear it haha

  • @SilentDestruction900 when he was yonger he dident know how to do squels but as he got old he stoped useing the pettle all to gether or just to change a pitch in the guitar

  • there's probably an obvious answer, but im just starting to get used to this trick.

can you dip the string, then pick the harmonic, and then raise the bar?

or should you really only use the pull off?

  • Who doesn't do them on the G-string ;)

  • @mahy169 Who indeed good sir :)

  • gd video man but your doing it slightly wrong!! its not a pull off, it works but its not dime style!! ill do a lesson on the real dime style squeels!! keep an eye out for it

  • @bawkii2011 Hey bro, thanks for checkin out and enjoyin the video! I know Dime "flicks" the string rather than pulling off, but I think the pull off technique is easier for those just learning the technique, so I taught it like that. But, you're right, this isn't exactly how Dime does his :).

  • 1:08 "So just pull off...dump....on the way back you when you're pulling back up..." How sick my mind is.

  • any tips for the floyd rose ? everytime i do this it get untuned ;(

  • @hogmjr either stretchier strings or keep the locks TIGHT and only tune with the "fine tuners" thats what i do. it makes it MUCH easier

  • So you need a Floyd Rose to dime squeal? Because I dont have a Floyd Rose, I just have a Jackson J21 Dinky stocked... Also, Would you need any certain equipment like a certain whammy bar? Because im making a trip to the music store soon. And I would like to get stocked on everything because I want to make squeals. Please reply. Thank you

  • @SNIPERmicSNIPER Hey man, thanks for checkin out the video! Anyway, you don't NEED a Floyd Rose, you can probably do them with your guitar now, but what will happen is your guitar will go out of tune and you also won't be able to dive as far with them or pull them up as high. Talk to the store about routing your guitar to fit a Floyd Rose on it and see how much they think it would cost. It probably isn't cheap unfortunately. If you're dead set on doing squeals, try trading for a Floyd fiddle

  • @chuckmehh Thank you man. Basically, If I only have a standard whammy bar and bridge, I can only make the dimebag divebomb go down, and back up to the regular harmonic, or dumping the bridge and hitting the harmonic and rasing it back to the standard tune and not further up? Because I can only push down on the whammy and pull it back up, I can't pull up higher past the standard note because I dont have a floater bridge.. Sorry if i'm annoying you. I dont know anyone else who plays guitar :P lol

  • @SNIPERmicSNIPER You're not bothering me man haha You're the reason I make these videos in the first place! But yes, you're spot on. You would need a floating bridge to pull it up higher like Dime or Steve Vai would do. See about trading in your guitar for a guitar with a floating bridge if you're dead set on getting these squeals!

  • @chuckmehh Thank you so much man. Do you have any suggestions on what guitar I should get that has the floating bridge?

  • @SNIPERmicSNIPER It's not a problem bro! For the guitar, it really depends on your budget. I've always liked the Dean MLs personally; the '79 ML, ML Shadow, Dime o Flame, and Warbird all had really nice necks and playability in my opinion. You wouldn't go wrong with any of them!

  • @chuckmehh Dime shadow looks tempting! Looks like I have some saving up to do. Thanks again

  • Good job.

  • @punishr36 Thanks bro, I'm glad ya liked it! Be sure to subscribe and tell your friends about my videos too :).

  • Why do not you do a cover of Pantera?

  • @doom666kratos I just may have to do that...haha I don't like to do covers until I have them nailed pretty well down, so it may take a while to totally capture Dime's style, but I"ll work on it for sure!

  • I like your voice!

  • @doom666kratos haha thanks man! Comes from livin in the country apparently. I never noticed my accent but quite a few people have said something about it!!!

  • I was wondering can the dime sqeal be done with a kahler tremelo system? I have a G&L Rampage

  • @robbie1055 I don't have any personal experience with Kahlers man, sorry! Give her a try though; I'd say it's do-able with one. Great guitars by the way :)

  • @robbie1055

Yes, the squeal is a natural harmonic so it has nothing to do with the trem you use. The trem is just for raising or lowering the pitch, which a kahler is perfectly capable of doing.

  • im going to try this but my guitars shit :(

  • @funnypeeps13 What guitar do you have?

  • @chuckmehh its a shitty evelation one it was £100 quid when i got it but it is cheap now its a black one

(and yes i am british and im proud of it)

  • @funnypeeps13 I'm not familiar with that one since we don't have that brand in the states, but being proud of your country is cool man :)

  • @chuckmehh ive tried it but it dosent work on mi guitar

  • @funnypeeps13 ahh That sucks man; you do need a good double locking tremolo to do it correctly and keep your guitar in tune! Sorry man. When you're ready to upgrade axes, get one with a quality Floyd or similar tremolo!

  • Excellent dude cool tutorial....I didn't get something with a floyd rose for no reason XD

  • @qaz121212 hell yeah bro! Thanks for the compliment too man; I appreciate it!

  • definitely one of the best dime squeals i've heard in a while. Sweet washburn man, keep shreddin

  • @egoballer100 Thanks bro! I'll definitely keep shreddin. Be sure to subscribe and tell yo kids, tell yo wife...and tell yo husband too cuz I'm shreddin everyone up in hurrr! hahahahah

  • Cool shirt dude!

  • @RandomUs3rn4m3 thanks dude!

  • YOU HAVE ONE OF THE SICKEST DEANS! i fucking love that guitar. nice squeals

  • @warlockmetal1 Thanks dude!! It's actually a Washburn EG333 and is currently being re done! I can't wait to show her off again soon :). Glad ya liked the video though man; keep rockin!

  • @chuckmehh oh yea washburn thats right. its badass none the less! \m/

  • @warlockmetal1 Thank ya sir! It is badass for sure.

  • Good shit bro

  • @time4coors Thanks brother!

  • is this a Black Label Society Shirt?

  • @Clawfish94 Yessir, it is!

  • Lame

  • @wesleywinter Thanks for checkin it out dude :)

  • I have plenty of questions! first like to know the name of the guitar, and capturing it. I would also like to know what pitch you're using, and if he could pass me a tablature of your lesson ... thanks man.

  • @doom666kratos Hey man what's up? The guitar is a Washburn EG333, but it is discontinued now unfortunately. You could get a Dean ML in a couple different sweet finishes or a Dean Razorback and get the same look/sound though. I'll send you a tab to your inbox, but what do you mean by what pitch? It is standard tuning, EADGBe if that is what you meant! Let me know brother :) Thanks for checking it out and be sure to subscribe and share it!

  • shit i can hit the HIGH ones between the 2nd and 3rd its easy as fuck im a beast at the squeels lol

  • @mlshred101 haha post a video response!!! Those ones are tricky sometimes :)

  • @chuckmehh

u realy would watch a lame vid of me just getting my squeels on lol ill think bout it lol

  • this Guitar is a weapon

  • Any reason why you're emulating Dime's voice too?

  • @pogohead Not on purpose good sir. Things like this happen; lots of people in the world and two people are bound to sound similar.

  • @chuckmehh Hehe, fair enough. Good vid :)

  • @pogohead ROFL

  • @pogohead ROFL... the best part is @ 0:06 "diiimeee squeeellss" rofl

  • WHY DO THESE IDIOTS KEEP POSTING VIDEOS OF THIS SHIT IF DIME HIMSELF MADE VIDEOS ABOUT THIS?!

    STUPID ATTENTION WHORES....

  • @Guilherme81 dude chill. there just trying to be helpfull.

  • Why the fuck didnt i get a guitar with a floyd....

  • @ratherbhunting1 it is a good question sir haha I personally like a hardtail better, but for this trick, ya need one!

  • dude where did you get that guitar?

  • @METALLICAFAN103Z It's about 3 or 4 years old I think and discontinued, but I got it from music123.com and it is a Washburn EG333! If you can find one; they're worth checking out. New pickups and a nice setup make it sing.

  • @chuckmehh ya i own the same axe its a nice piece, threw an invader in the bridge and it screams and its double routed for nice whammy action. i believe they are some of the last washburns since since they lost the license on the ML style guitars.

  • @moshkaine Hell yeah man that sounds like a killer axe. I think you're right about them no longer making the ML shape as well. It's a little unfortunate but understandable nonetheless.

  • i can do them on the fifth easy and it sounds sick but anywhere else on the g string i cant do it, and when i do it doesnt sound that great

  • @DirtyHispasian Yep they're easiest at the fifth fret; the others take practice, practice, practice and a ton of gain!!

  • @DirtyHispasian 12th fret is also pretty easy.

  • @FourthHorseman666 yeah man you're right, the 12th fret is probably the easiest actually. It's just not quite as high :)

  • Badass.

Imagine your girlfriend sounding like this during sex!

  • @TheD3vils0wn hahah Oh it's rare that she would sound like this? Shit, I thought that was normal.

  • Is that an ML or 333, love the camo and i know it's not a DIME O FLAUGE by the paint, and good lesson also bro

  • @bdoginit01 It's a 333 dude; good call!

  • @chuckmehh i got a 333 with the rebel flag ( dixie or confederate) paint on it

  • @bdoginit01 Hell yeah man; good stuff!

  • hey man, love the video, I have a flloyd on my guitar, but no matter how i try i can't get that harmonic, also, what setting do you use on your amp/pedal? Because it doesnt sounds the same for me :(

  • @my5thbebo Glad ya liked it man.. Send me a personal message with your current amp/guitar and the settings you're using and we'll go from there!

  • I'm getting a syn custom for christmas and I've been trying dive bombs out in guitar shops and I'm not too bad. Need a bit more practise though, I will be able to when I get my Syn custom :D can't wait nice vid by the way u rock!

  • @RaaaawrProductions Hell ya dude, sounds like a plan! Those are great guitars. Enjoy it! Thanks for the comment!

  • You can sort of do them with out a floyd rose.

If you flick the string, grab the harmonic and then push the string down behind the nut to raise the pitch.

  • you even have a voice like Dimebag! You sound almost exactly alike!

  • @narto1223344 haha growing up in the country will do that! Rock on brother!

  • awesome ! \m/

  • @TheRevSRB Thanks dude!

  • Alright dude! Spot on lesson! Gonna try it right now! Keep up the good work mate. Jon in Scotland.

  • @SuperJonMurray Good luck man! Enjoy. Tell Scotland the United States says hello haha

  • thats insane!

  • @polishskaterdude32 haha thanks dude! I appreciate the support

  • What would you say about the Washburn x10.???? people say it goes outta tune with the whammy bar, like after u use it it doesnt go back into normal tuning,,, i think its probly cause they didnt stretch the strings when they got new ones,... what wuld you say/..??? im think about getting one cause the price is good,, and herd good things about washburns

  • @cococmag1015 I don't have any experience with that particular model but as long as you get the Floyd properly set up and everything, it should be fine!

  • did you take out the rubber block under the floyd rose to pull the whammy higher? im rockin em with the rubber block but ive heard some things about higher pitches without it when you pull up, just curious on if its in or not in this specific model in the vid.

  • @pukeface16 Nah, mine isn't blocked at all. I would recommend letting it float to get these vicious squeals!

  • what guitar is that? looks like a baby ml..never seen one like that though..

  • @GunnaLeeeeeee It's actually a Washburn EG333; completely full sized guitar. It's getting major surgery at the moment though! Upgrading the tremolo, dropping in EMG's, locking tuners, and a sick paint job!

  • @chuckmehh ok lol...well im getting a baby ml and want to replace the tuners..any recommendations?

  • @GunnaLeeeeeee I definitely recommend Planet Waves auto trim locking tuners. They are amazing. You can get a set on ebay for ~$60.

  • @chuckmehh sounds good..thanks!

  • @chuckmehh ur sponsered by planet waves..........dick

  • @androidapps3000 I don't know where you heard that, but it's news to me! If I'm sponsored by them, they aren't giving me anything at all! haha

  • @chuckmehh oh my bad there was a planet waves ad in the side and i read in ur comments that u told some kid to get some planet wave tuners it just seemed that way 2 me

  • @androidapps3000 No worries man; I can see how it would seem like that! I'm definitely not sponsored by them though--those are just great tuners!

  • i hate my g string its always out of tune even after i change strings. haha g string

  • whats the cheapest guitar with a floyd rose tremolo??

  • @razorlips2000 no clue brother! I know there is a Peavey Predator with a double locking (floyd rose type) for like $250. Search youtube and harmony-central forums and I'm sure you can find a better deal than that.

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • @INSANEtheBAND1 It's a Washburn EG333; they don't make it anymore. I'm currently rebuilding her! New Floyd, EMG's, Locking Tuners, and a sick paint job are in order!

  • Please can you help me with that please? :/

I want to do that , but I cant... please can you help me?

  • @Megandrehx I'm gonna answer your message now man! Thanks for checkin out the video!

  • adj. G STRING- (KNOW AS THE GANGSTAH STRING)

  • @KLOWNABLES haha nice

  • everything sounds good on a g string

  • @zoraliciousful indeed, indeeeed

  • G STRING HAHAHAHAHHA

  • COOL!!!!!!!

  • @billkropp thanks man!

  • Good T-Shirt man

  • @CanduterioCS hell yeah bro! Thanks!

  • it sounds like an alarm

  • @GuitarManiaTV indeed, indeed

  • Great squeals man but Dimebag used the lever in the opposite position! As Dimebag used to say: you are using the Steve Vai technique!! I miss him and his music! :(

    cheers brotha! :)

  • @fiozzi83 Yeah man he did do it opposite of me. I just feel more comfortable this way, but it's allll good! Same end result! He was a great musician and an even better person man, a big loss to the music community.

Thanks for checkin out the video! Glad ya liked it bro!

  • CHUKS DA FUKUN MANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

  • @TrppyTV Thanks brother! Glad ya like it!

  • KILLER FUKUN VIDEO

  • awesome info. i prefer the b string, but whatever. great job
