Saw these guys at the Jewish Mother in VA Beach this summer. Rediculously awesome. We talked with the bass player after the show. They play fender amps, 'cept for the singer, bassist has a degree in theology, etc. At one point the topic came around to consorting with wizards....don't do it (or you shall be smited!)

JD is so surprising. I went to see his show, not very many people there. He was outside smoking a pipe before it started, we were talking. He was really soft-spoken and seemed meek. Then he got on stage and went ballistic. It was incredible! Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde!

At the moment - my favorite American band. Yes, they rock out like a monster, but the true strength of this serpent is the songwriting. The sonic roar they produce pretty much kills the ultra smart lyrics and the message gets lost. Their last three releases are the best examples of damaged Americana I've ever heard. SWAMPBLOOD is highly reccomended!
