@TheHeartbreaker2009 I don't think that Sonata Arctica is the best power metal band by far. The best power metal bands are the underground bands that came too late. Don't get me wrong, Sonata is a great band, but absolutely not the best power metal band out there.
@TheHeartbreaker2009 Sonata Arctica were once great with power metal.. I wish they'd be once more, they've taken the more progressive and slow-tempo style. I still remember when Silence came out 2001, it's still my favourite album of all time. Unia and The Days of Grays are still good but.. Not good when bearing the name Sonata Arctica. For me, Sonata Arctica always ment energetic, powerful, fast, melodic power metal spiced with the best ballads I've heard.

I dont generally listen to music like this but this is awesome, the guitarist is very talented (love the solo at 3:00), even the clean vocals are awesome
The keyboards/piano intro was simply melodic. And then you hear the rest of the song, which is quite nicely done and goes down one's ears smoothly. :):):)

@MelancholyBleeding take for granted their supremacy on speed? Can't agree with you there. Their style is maybe being fast but that's not all their music is. Now speaking of Opeth I can understand why u don't like DF cause they are like: opposite in almost every way. But what I will say is that I THINK DF is more ov a live show band than Opeth. Opeth's music is just to stif on stage it's more like they are playing in the studio, just that a crowd is watching. That's my opinion after ONE vid.
Ok... but you really don't get many contrasts in DF, or do you? They stick to their blast beats and shredding, without attempting to renew their style, and besides... well, this is already a trend, but their lyrics are a little recycled too, with their famous quote "so far away" appearing in almost all of them.
I think DF's music is more about simple interaction with the crowd, while Opeth is more just about contemplating the musicians, just like back in the XIXth century.
@MelancholyBleeding sounds like you you sumed it up preaty much there. I understand why people think they sound the same and I agree that they are kinda recycled, but they tend to do the bigger changes over the albums while inside the album they stay very much the same. However their first album Is in my mind the best and not many of the "suck" arguments fit in at all with that album. You should check it out it's really great and different album than the newest.
I will do... but I'm amazed by the quantity of bands that have a great debut album and fall off from the pedestal by trying to create new stuff without changing method.

Agreed.Although, to be quite sincere, ZP Theart tone was very distinctive, and, all in all, he would have made and awesome job with another bands, were it not for his musical preferences (blues).

Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) is less interested in squeezing 13 notes/second than creating rich and complete riffs full of depth...DragonForce's sound is shallow, devoid of creativity, even though the musicians are highly skilled. I probably know this bands better than you. the links I posted are to Rhapsody Of Fire (not Rhapsody anymore), the BEST power metal band around. Avantasia and Edguy suck terribly, same for the new Helloween... Hammerfall is great, tough. I've listened to DragonForce's whole discography and it sounds boring. I listened to ROF's complete catalogue in one day and that kept me going.

Therefore, there is no "true" metal other than what is metal. From Black Sabbath to King Diamond to Skid Row to Holy Grail to Deridian to Helloween to Darkest Hour to FireHouse to Death. All sorts of metal. All should be respected as equal just as the Heavy Metal brothers should respect each other.

ALL THEIR MATERIAL IS RECYCLED...and their shredding is not so impressive as some think...

Now speaking of Opeth I can understand why u don't like DF cause they are like: opposite in almost every way. But what I will say is that I THINK DF is more ov a live show band than Opeth. Opeth's music is just to stif on stage it's more like they are playing in the studio, just that a crowd is watching. That's my opinion after ONE vid.

Ok... but you really don't get many contrasts in DF, or do you? They stick to their blast beats and shredding, without attempting to renew their style, and besides... well, this is already a trend, but their lyrics are a little recycled too, with their famous quote "so far away" appearing in almost all of them.
I think DF's music is more about simple interaction with the crowd, while Opeth is more just about contemplating the musicians, just like back in the XIXth century.

I understand why people think they sound the same and I agree that they are kinda recycled, but they tend to do the bigger changes over the albums while inside the album they stay very much the same. However their first album Is in my mind the best and not many of the "suck" arguments fit in at all with that album. You should check it out it's really great and different album than the newest.

You know, technique is not everything... Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) is less interested in squeezing 13 notes/second than creating rich and complete riffs full of depth...DragonForce's sound is shallow, devoid of creativity, even though the musicians are highly skilled. I am not the ultimate Power metal fan, I am more into Death metal, but listen to this (type youtube(dot)com/ before):

I probably know this bands better than you. the links I posted are to Rhapsody Of Fire (not Rhapsody anymore), the BEST power metal band around. Avantasia and Edguy suck terribly, same for the new Helloween... Hammerfall is great, tough. I've listened to DragonForce's whole discography and it sounds boring. I listened to ROF's complete catalogue in one day and that kept me going.

Yeah....Luca Turilli's Neoclassical Guitar Revelation course... sorry, but it is an online course... Luca Turilli's my favorite guitarist besides Trey Azagthoth but I don't buy this kind of stuff. Avantasia sucks mainly because it ISN'T a bad...it's just Tobias Sammet hanging out with good musicians and asking them to record his stuff... Problem is, he isn't that great either... plus, his vocal style is artificial, makes me sick, and his lyrics are bullshit. Edguy, the same
