Hi too all who read this he was,is a great man brilliant mind and sole some of the most ground braking song writer's in Australian music ,80,90s Barbados -modern girl, two cabs to the toucan,Out of Mind, Out of Sight, are in the 80s hall of fame...
make no mistakes about this man with his looks moves and charisma will always be unmarketable brilliant , the hard knocks were never taken lightly
As someone else mentioned James joined in 82 and featured on this song and film clip. I loved this group in 82 and I was only 9. My big regret was missing out on these fantastic pub bands because I wad too young to see them. Now I just have to make do when they do the RSL.
I remember seeing these guys with I'm Talking supporting at Wollongong Town Hall back in '85 when I turned 15. My first live gig. I was at the front with a bunch of other screaming young highschool teenyboppers reaching out for Freud's hand. He saw I had a teddybear in my hand and he reached down so I could give it to him. I smiled with impressionable pop smitten wonder that he received my gift and he flung it out into the audience! BASTARD!
The models were kind of victims of their own unique sound: too pop for the all too serious 80's alternative scene, and too gutsy for the Aha/Wang Chung mainstream pop fans of the 80's. Love this one- a real belting rocker witha super guitar hook!
Just after this they wheeled in James Freud to give them a pretty boy front man and James Valentine's trumpet (fnarr) to make the sound more accessible (what was it with bands in the mid-80s adding a horn section?)
Anyway, at the expense of their street cred they were suddenly consumer-friendly enough to stick on Countdown.
But at this point they were still nice 'n' grungy.
Yep, Sean Kelly was the goods, cool, mean looking and sounding. They were pretty hard to pigeonhole and had some ambitious songs like King of Kings which might have scared the teenyboppers and pubrockers off. I think they supported The Police and Bowie which would`ve been a good match. They didn`t do as well as they should`ve o/seas but who gives a rat`s arse, we know they`re good.
@pmam1968 Mate James joined two years earlier so he is on this song and I hear motion from a year earlier, and oh yeah check this video again cause he's in it. On another note another great Aussie band that didn't make it past the 80's, great songs, favourite is Barbados
What a song, I remember going to see these guys on the espy in St Kilda with The Hunters or the Church, my memory fades, but these guys were grouse. No Wait it could have been The Mentals, or um er Jo Jo Zep ah who cares. Good Band.
Great piss-take on Whacko Jacko at 1.05 with the horses arse and his better half performing a moonwalk.

Yes, many a Models' gig in the '80s did I literally drool on the floor, this band - and their music - was so sexy.

@thestew75 Umm yeah, I guess you're right. Sean was still the front man here though.

this song has a big beat, so it needs a strong singer. tom jones comes to mind or maybe the stones are the answer

yeah! Or Robbie Williams. Or any member of Young Talent Time....
