@anohso , Isn't that what it's supposed to be about, the art of music? That's why pop music is in the disgusting mess that it is in now. Minnie should have been one of the biggest music stars ever. She made plenty of money on the stage though, which is where the financial longevity is, for any of them.

@SpazChat I guess in those days Labels wanted you to be one thing or the other. Minnie being black was expected to sing black music but her art was too wide to express it in one genre and so she would often blend her sound to mix classical with Soul. She was planning to leave her label because she was not happy with their support but she was not able to do so because of her cancer. But I'm happy she left behind great music to last us forever.

Not very good with stage presence, but she had a glorious voice. One of only two pop music coloraturas I know of . The other being Mariah Carey.
