On TV there was M.A.N.T.I.S. on Fox in 1994-95. It only lasted 22 episodes starring Carl Lumbly as a wheel chair bound scientist turned super hero. Also of note: the two-hour pilot, was written by Sam Hamm (Batman) and to be directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man).

Also in 1979 the Super Globetrotters on Saturday Mornings.

Also Blankman movie from 1994.

I can name more black heroes than black villains. Is that racist? There have been a ton of white people beating up on Spider-Man. But the only black people I recall causing trouble was Calypso and Rocket Racer. Everybody causes an equal amount of trouble no matter what color their skin is. I always sympathize more for the villain anyway (because I know I aint Superman). Is the black hero to black villain ratio an early example of affirmative action?

P Diddy is a very famous rapper. He was going on saying how he was glad that Hancock came out and how black people finally had a black superhero. We just wanted to show him how wrong he was. He came off really racist in his blog and we thought it was important to show that comic books are not racist.
