I'm italian and I didn't find a mandolin teachers, but I play violin too so for me become very easy to learn mandolin, because the strings are tuned in the same way, and some technics are similar, but I think that if you find a Mandolin method is better.

where can you get a mandolin and mandolin lessons, i always liked the sound of them but i never hear "who wants mandolin lessons" i live in missouri (sadly) anyone know? i currently play violin

Find a mandolin teacher is not an easy thing. Actually, the only mandolin teachers that you can find are bluegrass mandolinists, not classical ones. I think that you can take informations from the Fretted Instruments Guild of America Association.

The only place where you can find a lot of mandolin teachers is Japan: there 1.000.000 of mandolinists!!!
