I thought it sounds far fetched but then I saw that to harvest the opium, you do not kill the plant, you just make a tiny cut on the surface. Fascinating

This video could just have easily been made in any backyard in Canada or the US. Opium poppies grow legally all over the place ever spring/summer. Yes, poppy seeds in your grocery store's spice section are the somniferum variety. Go to eBay if you want a variety of somniferum poppy seeds, in any colour, from any country in the world. For ornamental purposes, of course.

For all you doubters - If you want to grow your own supply of opium poppies, it's not very hard. It's easier than growing weed. Getting the seeds is not tough. I personally bought mine from a local seed store (Ontario Canada), and made sure they're Papaver Somniferum. You can easily grow, with a little trial and error, enough opium gum to keep you high for weeks on one batch. I do NOT recommend growing them outdoors if you intend to harvest them, that's prison. Keep your growing private.

I've successfully gown poppies in my basement. I've made some unsuccessful "crops" of about 20 poppies, but it all has to do with light/temps/watering. I use Papaver Somniferum, which are in fact opium poppies. Some yielded some good opium, most did not. You'd have to have hectares of them to be a dealer, but for your own supply, all you need are a few plants. All Papaver Somniferum will grow opium poppies like you see in this video. Don't believe me? You should have smoked my cooked product.

OPIUM-101- Actualy it's very easy to grow opium the only thing is it's not easy to grow indoors like weed is because of the lighting and the temprature . But to harvest the opium out doors is very easy , you can just buy the seeds from ebay and then just wait until spring time to plant the seeds in your yard or where ever and once the crop starts to sprout then the plant will start to grow larger and then you will actualy see the pods maturing .
