  • Whenever I hear him say, "Zenyatta ran her heart out but had to settle for second" I cry instantly.

  • been in racing 35 years as an asst trainer Zenyatta is the greatest female i ever saw and yes that includes ruffian

  • Explain further abot Zentatta letting Blame win since it is her last race. Do you think she could sense that? atimtg

  • Wow, Mike Smith beat on Zenyatta down the stretch like she was a claimer. IMO he let us all down with that flogging! Zenyatta did not like it, and it upset her enuf that she did not run her best. With so much to do late in the race- there was no time for her to regain her form. Mike Smith should just have hand rode more with about 1/4 of whips. It also shows that not only horse but the team has no room for error. Zenyatta also could have sensed it was her last race and allowed Blame to win.

  • @atimtg Smith was crying his heart out after this race, he needs no further poking.

  • @NotMilkable LOL I agree he stuffed up, he knows he stuffed up, let him get on with life, go BLACK CAVIAR

  • I never did like Garrett Gomez....funny how he is the one to "Blame".....

  • If you dont let a closer relax then you wont get the same kick you would normally have down the stretch. Smith did nothing wrong. She had 325 yds to catch Blame and Blame didnt tire. Zenyatta is Great . The greatest female . One of the best ever. Dont forget Native Dancer lost the derby by a neck and that was his lone loss. Man o war lost by a nose and that was his lone loss. Blame will only be known as the horse that edged Zenyatta. She held form for 4 yrs no one else did that, Boy or Girl .

  • "zenyatta is by far the greatest racehorse in history"???????

    Are you serious?

In my opinion its still Secretariat, you can argue it, thats fine. But how can you say she is "by far" the greatest, that claim is just stupid, you're not even going to acknowledge the other great horses?

  • @sjamil316 i've been in racing 35 years as an asst trainer on a major circuit Zenyatta is the greatest female i ever saw and yes that includes Ruffian

  • @renduke I don't give a shit about Ruffian. What about motherfucking Secratariat bitch. Or Man O War. If you're comparing her to Ruffian then yes I'll give you that Zenyatta is the greatest FEMALE racehorse of all time. Note the capitalized word.

  • @sjamil316 you're an ignorant douche bag...I did say FEMALE....GO BACK TO YOUR 2 DOLLAR TO LOSE window

  • @renduke I know what you said, that wasn't the point of my original comment. I was talking about all horses. Why did you bother replying if you're only going to talk about females. And FYI, I bet once on a horse race, the 2000 Kentucky Derby, won $5000 and promised myself I'd never bet again.

  • @sjamil316 here's a clue ok....when you reply to someone by saying motherfucking bitch you're showing all the class of a 2,000 claimer. A guy talking down to an asst trainer saying "i only bet one race in my life" That about says it all....WHY am i talking about ONLY females ? LMAO..i can talk about anything i want...2 its a fucking given the best boys are superiod to the best girls...BACK TO RACING 101 for you

  • See you at peelers makes this horse look like a joke

  • Stuiped Blame! :(

  • @AKM1007 He's not stupid, he's a great racehorse only a fool would deny it. But you are partially right, Zenyatta is the greatest!

  • Absolutely no way Mike Smith was to blame for Zenyatta's loss. Zenyatta was not prepared to run vs. Males on dirt. Her poor start where she failed to switch leads and fell far back was the result of her not being comfortable with the clods of dirt that were hitting her in the face...If anyone is to blame it's Shirrefs and The Mosses for failing to anticipate this and running her in a large field on dirt prior to this...She ran her heart out in defeat.

  • The jockey should be strung up by his balls !!!

  • Jockey !

  • I love you Zenyatta, is my idol .............

  • zenyatta zenyatta llaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeee

  • I really am annoyed that people won't let go who was HOY for 09 and 010. What is;is.

  • Secretariat best ever! Nuf Ced!

  • @BlueEnvoy4413 Secretariat is second Ruffian is the better horse in the world

  • the owner of any other horse would be ecstatic with Zenyatta's run. Can't see what Smith did wrong.the jockey can't go faster than the horse.just a terribly slow start is to blame.

  • How can 7 people dislike this? lol

  • This race gives me goose bumps, what a horse even in defeat.

  • oooh few more feet god that horse was lucky to win zenyatta i do think if she had started better she would have won but she is one hell of a horse

  • @DeathKitty123456 Totally agreed on all counts. She's no less great at 19-1 than she would have been at 20-0. It was a honor to watch her run.

  • Zenyatta should have been HOTY 2009. No question Blame should have gotten 2010. There's really no question.

  • @mattowan

LOL. Tell that to Rachel Alexandra who worked her arse off all year, as opposed to Zenyatta who had ONE big race.

  • @queenluciaa Tell that to the Green Bay Packers who had a very good year and then won the big game. Who is the champ?

  • @mattowan

Rachel Alexandra, besides the Breeder's Cup Classic Zenyatta had an average yer. But RA had one for the ages. Stamping herself as the greatest 3 yo. filly of all time.

  • Inane, by definition, means to lack sense, to be silly. Insane means to be mentally deranged or not sound of mind. Both words get the point across but insane, as it is used a lot these days, is hyperbole in this situation.

  • shergar. red rum. desert orchid and kauto star all better horses than zenyatta. She is a legend indeed and mike smith is the only thing that we can blame for her failure.

  • You arev so dumb secratariet was the best horse ever lived. He was amazing way better then zenyatta.

  • The logic of Zenyatta as HOTY is the same logic as

making the NE Patriots NFL champs the year they

lost the Super Bowl to the Giants after a perfect

regular season. To get the trophy you must win the

big one except horse racing where a bunch of

    media stooges decide the fate!

  • It is simple math, Zenyatta never went by Blame and Blame

had a much tougher season so Blame should be the HOTY

right? Wrong, because the NTRA & DRF are a joke they give

it to Zenyatta as a makeup for last year! Two wrongs don't

make a right especially when Z did not win a race vs males

in 2010 and that is a fact!!!

  • I cried when I watched this race. She's proven so much , and she continued to prove herself even in "defeat", after making up that incredible amount on the track.

She's such a special horse, I love her to death <3

  • perdio como los grandes corriendo a mi padecer es la mejor yegua que se a visto la unica que la puede superar en la actualidad es Goldikova de irlanad de alli mas nadie

  • anyone that knows about horse racing will know this is her best race ever,,,, and i love her even more what a horse

  • Zen proved more in defeat here than in all her victories combined. She really was the fastest of all.

  • come oooonn,Zenyatta was sooooo close she could have won!!! I keep watching the race and every time i am so enthusiastic that she will win.shame...but she is still the best!!! =D

  • Even though the race is done and over, every time I watch the replays I still find myself cheering for Zenyatta and hoping for a few more yards.

  • I have to put the jockey at fault for this one. After the VS I even stated that he damned near miscalculated the distance and in this race, it happened. As for Zenyatta vs. Secretariat, her racing style was all wrong to race a horse who finished stronger than he started...she would never have caught him.

  • A Zenyatta-Secretariat comparison? Nothing in Zenyatta's race history indicates she could beat Secretariat

  • ZENNNN-YAAAAA-TAAAAAAA!!! BAAAAA-LAAAAA-MMMM!!!!

Those exact words in that exact accent were stuck in my head for days after that race. Such a great effort but huge disappointment. Zenyatta, we'll always love you! <333 This is why you shouldn't fall in love with a horse, but I did anyways. It'll break your heart and I honestly believe God gave me a wake up call with this race. Best wishes to Zenyatta and Blame.

  • bad ride

  • ZENYATTA

    ZENYATTAAAAAAAA!!!!

    ZENYATTaaaaaaaaaaaA!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ZENYATTAAAAAaaaaAAA B-LAAAAaaaaaAAAAaaaaaaMMMMME!

  • Is this the greatest stalking horse ever. Reminds me of Dave Wottle in the 72 Olympics.

  • yes he is all of her races he always took her on the outside and let her go but this time he trys to take her through and they block her in she would have won it if it wasn't for his dumb ass

  • Stupid ass Mike Smith... friggin moron

  • zenyattas handlers should change their tactics agaisnt this field....they rely on her late charge ...zenyattas was jogging when she start the race thats overconfidence...they did not take blame as a serious threat...i believe in rematch if zenyatta will start to run early she will beat blame..blame is such a dangerous and indeed a great horse as well.

  • If they had a rematch Zenyatta would clean Blame's slate no doubt about it

  • No way is she anywhere close the "the greatest racehorse in history".

  • @theOlLineRebel She's one of them and to dispute that is simply inane

  • @MrFlapgargle

Calling her "by far the greatest" is simply insane. Much more than inane. Questionable usage of the word, BTW.

  • Shut UP Heydrink this Zen should of won and would win the 2004 BCC even Agienest Blame

  • Weak field.

Zenyatta and Blame are both great horses.

    BUT

Put them in the 2004 BCC and they'd get cooked.

  • Screw all you Hoof Hearted is the greatest horse of all time!!!!!!

  • Zenyaaatta...Zenyaaatta...Blame!

haha...Trevor Denman you silly bastard you.

  • They should of taken Chris McCarran out of retirement and put him on Zenyatta. I can always trust Chris to do the right thing.

  • Zenyatta....just another horse to soon be forgotten....All you neophytes crack me up...equating this effing horse to Secretariat....lmao...hahahahahaha....forget about a horse setting all three triple crown records that still stand to this day...no, give me Zenyatta breaking the record of the immortal Pepper's Pride....yeah, that's a record to be cherished for the next century...hahahahahahahahahahah...too funny

  • @indkeith At least she won 2 BC and made homeboy Blame life and death to beat her while WAY OVERRATED RACHEL ALEXANDRA didn't even make it as a pony boy in any Breeders Cup race...LOL

Fact is legendary Zenyatta will be remember and talk about for decades to come.....

  • @indkeith Laugh it up, fella. Just remember: Crowd-pleasers like Zenyatta are the ones that keep the tracks open for people like you. If your nearby track is like half the tracks in the U.S., it's probably on the verge of bankruptcy. Laurel, Pimlico, Hollywood Park will all be history soon. Just thank your stars that the likes of Zenyatta are keeping horse racing in business. And I guarantee you that she'll be remembered long after you or me or all the other posters here have passed.

  • @indkeith Secretariat lost more races then Zenyatta. Secretariat sucked.

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow Secretariat sucked? Now I know you're not serious. A horse who swept the Triple Crown and set track and stakes records nearly 40 years ago that are still standing to this day sucks. Unbelieveable!!!

  • @shooter297 He sucks compared to Zenyatta. Look who Secretariat lost to and by how much? If there was a match race between Zen and Secretariat we all know who would win every time

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow

Tour seriously saying that Zenyatta is better than Native Dancer and Secretariat? Native Dancer in his only loss was fouled twice, and whipped in the face by an opponent's jockey. Still got second. Secretariat: Even though he lost 5 times, he really lost only 4 because he placed 1st but was disqualified. In the Wood Memorial he had a very painful abscess in his mouth, and with a bit only made it entirely more excrutiating. Yet still placed 3rd.

  • @queenluciaa Zenyatta is the best racehorse you've ever seen and will ever see! Deal with it!

  • @Peachycanyon lol so true x

  • @Peachycanyon

Correction my friend: Zenyatta is the best dancer I'll ever see. Her moves get to me, just like everyone else. But in all seriousness she is a wonderful mare, but [I say this with due respect] would neverbeat Secretariat nor Native Dancer.

  • @queenluciaa Unless you actually witnessed the likes of Secretariat or Native Dancer, Zenyatta is still the best you've ever seen.

  • @Peachycanyon

It depends on how they ran. Zenyatta is definately the best closer I've seen male or female, but there is many different running types.

Dirt Sprinter-Female:Xtra Heat, Male:Lost in the Fog

    Grass Sprinter-Female:Goldikova, Male:Dayjur

    --

    Non American Dirt Horse- Invasor

Non American Grass Horse-Male:Sea The Stars, Female:Pebbles

    --

Best Horses I've Personally Seen [My Opinion]-Male:Invasor,Point Given,Cigar,Holy Bull, Silver Charm, Skip Away

  • @Peachycanyon

Female-Goldikova,Zenyatta,Rachel Alexandra [In that order] Here is a lot of best demale racehorses my mother has seen-Ruffian,Desert Vixen,Susan's Girl,Genuine Risk,Personal Ensign,Pebbles,Miesque, etc.

But Zenyatta is definately the best closer anyone will ever see. She has her own spot in history as that. Right next to Silky Sullivan.

  • @queenluciaa Goldikova is good, but she wouldn't touch Zenyatta at a mile and a quarter on any surface. She's a turf miler and the best horse she ever beat was Gio Ponti, who Zenyatta also beat, except when she beat him it was at his favorite distance and he was in his prime.

  • @Peachycanyon

Ahem, what? Gio Ponti never won a race that was 1 1/4 on synthetic. Yes it was his best distance, but hes a grass horse. And your right about Goldikova not beating Zenyatta at her best distance, but it is vise versa at Goldikova's best distance. But Goldikova's kick is so abnormally strong [For such a small horse as her too] It amazes me that she can pass the colts like that.

  • @queenluciaa Gio Ponti won the Sir Beaufort Stakes on Santa Anita's Pro-Ride and even his trainer Christophe Clement said that he loves the surface. I respect Goldikova, but after I saw that Zenyatta ran her final mile in the 2009 Breeder's Cup Classic faster than Goldikova's entire Breeder's Cup Mile that year, I'm convinced that Zenyatta is the better of the two.

  • @Peachycanyon

Goldikova being a horse that traveled countries, its still incredibly amazing she can beat the best American and European milers. Since Zenyatta rarely left California, it gives me some doubts. But I don't understand why the Mosses didn't try her on turf, her pedigree screams turf all over. Her brother Souper Spectacular flourished on the turf.

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow All great horses lose. Secretariat had an excuse for every one of his losses. Zenyatta has no excuse other than not being good enough to run down the top older male horse in the country, Blame. She ran the same race that she ran in winning last year's Classic. She was further back in the beginning but once she got hold of the track, she ran her race. If she was the best horse in the race, she would have won plain and simple. Blame is the better horse and he proved it.

  • @shooter297 - If you noticed in the beginning of the race, Zen got shit kicked in her face was totally devasted. Despite of the incident, she made up a lot ground and missed it by less than a head. Secretariat didn't show that type of performance. Also, a horse is measured by their overall track record.... not by just one race. If that were true then the argument that Coastal beat Spectacular Bid in the Belmont makes Coastal the better horse would be true which everyone knows that it's not

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow First of all, getting dirt kicked back in your face is not "an incident". That's Horse Racing. Maybe if Zenyatta had had more experience running on dirt prior to this race, she would have been able to handle it better. As far as he overall track record, 18 of her 20 starts wer in restricted company, 17 of those 20 starts were in the same state on a fake racetrack. So when you put things into thier proper persceptive, he overall record is impressive but questionable.

  • @shooter297 Oh ok no your just putting Zenyatta down because you don't like her. Zenyatta had a great excuse for losing. Getting dirt kicked into your face which your not used to and being farther behind than you ever had before. getting into traffic problems and coming up a head short. PLEASE she has a better excuse than Secretariat ever had in all his races lost. All greats lose at sometime

  • @shooter297 execpt for Sec's abcess in his mouth

  • @lets get it started= please learn something about racing before you speak.

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow Did Zenyatta do 1:59 and 2/5 at Churchill Downs? Yeah, I know who would win.

  • @Kulaness No not yet. People said she should be bred to Curlin, but their pedigrees are too close(Mr. Prospector).

Either way she will have beautiful babies, and I want one(with luck I will get a grand baby.lol)

  • even blame won.. zenyatta still the best... no one can ever duplicate her..

  • @19mrgee soo true

  • No matter how many times I watch this, it still hurts. What a magnificent animal, and what a shame it had to end this way. Tantalisingly close to perfection. I guess it could have been alot worse, if she had broken down and been euthanised. We still have this equine treasure. Time to see if she can produce some future stars, and with the record of winning producing in her distaff line I wouldn't be surprised if she is one of the few champion mares who are also champion broodmares.

  • My world, haters can make like bees with no stingers, and drop dead

  • Zenyatta was hardly embarrassed here when some folks thought she would get dusted on dirt by the likes of Quality Road and Lookin At Lucky. Should six inches after making up 20 lengths be considered a beatdown? Zenyatta fired every single time in her racing career and never took a day off on the job. That is more than you can say for other "greater" and "faster" horses. Even Blame took a day off in NY vs a horse who finished second to last in this race.

  • Replicating another Zenyatta will be hard to do. Whether in looks, personality, resume, and style. She is one of the most unique horses ever. Many horses all look or act the same and share a similar career path. We've had a couple "Big Reds", but there is only one "Queen" to me. Like Michael Jackson & Haley's Comet, Zen only comes once in a lifetime. We can clone Zenyatta and that magic will still feel lost compared to the one & only, original masterpiece.

  • No doubt the best horse just missed by a head.

  • Face it, Smith choked. It is what it is. In life, you can't get every result you want. Some just want to be a Grinch about it. She'll win 2010 HotY easily. Peeps just want to make the argument more complicated than it will really end up being. Blame = Awesome Again. Both horses nowhere the champions and remembered the way Skip Away, Silver Charm, and Zenyatta are.

  • i was right there at the finish line and i almost passed out when they crossed it and i saw she lost...so sad :\

  • Zen, had more than 2 and 3 challenges against other Gr I horses. If you are talking about major races such as the BCC ones than that would be 3.

  • Aaaaw. I'm so sad that she didn't win. She tried her best though.

  • The REAL question is why does everyone forget about GOLDIKOVA. Now THAT is a great horse! Sea The Stars. Cigar. And the great ones before. Zenyatta is an exciting horse, but, she's only had two or three real challenges against Grade 1 winners, and in her second attempt to beat the boys...she lost. Yes, she SHOULD have won, but, so should have Big Brown, Street Sense, Silver Charm, Smarty Jones...get the picture? Blame is a great horse that successfully achieved what his team set him out for!

  • @MichaelDominici i totaly agree with u,,also lets tell about gosthzapper,,he was a great horse .. he ran short and long distance the longest distance he ran was the breders cup, and he set the record, and he went all the way in front....

  • i hate blame

  • @xxHerculesxxxbecause i won ..jajajajja....

  • every time i watch this i hope the ending changes....

  • @purduecrew177 i couldnt agree more

  • Shes only had 20 starts as a 6yr old (I thought she might have been younger than that) Here in Australia, we still have 9yr olds racing & winning, so all Im saying maybe they should'nt retire her just yet, she still has alot of racing left in her. Is Zenyatta competing in any other races, anytime soon.

  • I think Zenyatta loses nothing in stature with this race. Guess what? She is not supposed to beat Blame, the best older male horse. The fact that she walked out of the gate as she always does and lost the race by a head. She is one of the greatest mares of all time and to go 19 for 20 is a great achievement. No go breed her and let her be a mommy.

  • @bigjoetube NO - she's not - not even close to it...see international ratings

  • @wavepattern What a race......Zenyatta closed per usual but this time not enough... ...Blame deserved the win.........for the love of you know who.....please stop the the rambling!

  • This lose I blame on Mike Smith... He got so proud of his Hall of Fame status, he forgot how to ride a horse properly....

  • @horshooer Too funny...

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow

In his Maiden Secretariat was impeded by the gait. And had to make up the same ammount of ground Zenyatta did.. In a 5 furlong race. Yet he still made 4th. He lost at Saratoga, a track he particularly hated by only a length. And in the Woodward, Prove Out had a wired lead [Secretariat stumbled at the start] And had to run a record stakes timing to beat him.

  • TurboTwistedFire this is horseshit!! as far behind as she was, there was no dirt being thrown in her face... and maybe you did not see her other 19 races where she started dead last and had the same dirt being thrown in her face!!!!

  • bgardiner2000. To say that "anyone'" who knows anything... can say she is not the best is a little overstated. I've been in this sport for quite a few years. I have seen horse racing from different seats at different grade 1 racetracks. I can only think of the great Cigar when it comes to compare Zenyatta to the big ones. And that is a high standard. But you are entitle to your opinion an I respect that.

  • Objectivity will always be Zenyatta's downfall!! You simply don't build a career on mediocrity and expect objective-minded persons to bestow greatness on you after being runner-up in an average at best group of grade one runners!! Had she taken on a three old Rachel, outrun a Quality Road in the Met Mile out-manoeuvre a Blame in the Woodward then we would have had to change our opinions of her!!

  • Beastx2000 it is easy for people like you to forget what a "monster" Rachel was at three because you are busy with your "Queen Z greatest horse ever PR campaign" Unlike your precious Queen Z who did nothing but run against arthritic mules all year,Rachel took on the best not once, twice but three times...winning every time thus voted HOTY!!

  • Zenyatta is a very good horse, imo Mike could have moved her a little sooner. Also you have to look at the beginning: getting squeezed at the start, kickback from the dirt, then trying to find racing room in the turn for home.

Zen is 6 years old, I really don't think it is about the money so much to retire her.

Last, the horse can't pick and choose the races, only the owners can- but she did win multiple Gr I races and beat multipleGr I winners. Give her some credit.

  • @21Sarabi Good comment. Z was the best horse in this race, the first one in which Lady Racing Luck ran out on her. A come-from-behind running style is riskier than that of sprinters/stalkers. This time, no one expected Quality Road to fade like he did as early as he did. Mike Smith went for the rail just before the 1/4 pole & almost ran into QR's ass looking for a chair to sit down on. Done deal. Z lost momentum, had to re-route, probably lost 2 lengths right there. The jockey did his job.

  • Anyone know the splits on this race? I hate that ESPN doesn't show them. :/

  • Ok Im from Australia, never herd about this horse till last weekend ,when we went live to see history in the making. Im sorry that jokey should never have let her be that far behind, then had too make up so much ground & too come second she is a champ. I herd here that the owners are thinking about retiring her, lol its all about money for them.

  • "An Average dirt horse" does not win the Breeders Cup Classic.

Any horse that wins 19/20 starts the majority of those Graded Stakes races is an amazing horse. Not to mention they added a lot of publicity to a dying sport around the world. Focus on the positives rather then the negatives.

  • @alliwantisu2 Exactly.........thanks for the lucid and common sense comment. Zenyatta kicked ass and nearly did again. Blame was clear but look who's coming.....he held her off.......good for him. He deserved to win. Hats off to both....clearly the best two in the Classic.

  • wavepatten i had a 5-8 5-8 all in the pick picked up 7,300 but your a dumb ass and you no nothing about horses so go suck black cock you home retard

  • Poor dumb-ass over-emotional brainwashed LOSERS !!! Anyone who thinks Z was some 'great' horse knows very little about genuinely GREAT horses - she HID from the best almost her whole career - winning 'G1' races against 2nd and 3rd rate filles almost all her starts - NEVER took on the BEST. I backed BLAME - a BETTER horse than Z - he DID give her weight and a beating - clearly superior!!!

  • @wavepattern I will admit that Zenyatta has appeal to many people who aren't educated in the sport. However, plenty of people who do know what they are talking about call her great. What I am saying is, you have your opinion, I have mine......not everyone who hails her is over emotional and a loser.....

  • @wavepattern i think you need to rethink this comment because I know a hell of a lot about horses, and great ones. Zenyatta is a great horse for so many reasons. Her personality and they way she carries herself is one of the main reasons why so many people loved her. She is also beautiful!!! if Zenyatta had the trip Blame had then she would have beat him by several lengths. She ran a GREAT race! one more stride and she would have had him. My hats off to Blame he ran a great race.

  • Zneyatta couldnt beat Blame, an average dirt horse, "but she is still by far the greatest racehorse in history"

    LMFAO

did the person who put this video up write that with a straight face?

    im pishing myself here anyway

Im guessing the poster hasnt looked outside of american either and im 98% sure its a girl....

only a girl would say something so insulting and wrong without knowing it.

Thank god race tracks wont have the high pitched scream of pregnant women to listen to anymore.

  • Comment removed

  • @dessiesdoneit wtf ? Zenyatta is amazing ! deal with it ....

  • @ILoveNewYork1996 The rulers of your government orchastrated 9/11

    deal with it

  • @dessiesdoneit well i dont think they did ... why would they attack themselves ? but if they did then i am dealing with it ...... btw .... im french .....

  • The bottom line is this, Zenyatta has run in a time were the whole American division from top to bottom is the weakest ive ever known it to be, with lack of a real champion older horse or a champion 3yo.

Yet she still ran all the time in fillies races. 18 out of 20 against fillies is absolutely pitiful. If she had run in open races like Goldikova does there is no way she would have went into the Classic unbeaten, but she would have won more than she lost and had a ton more credit.

  • Moss would have been better off racing her against the race with Goldikova. She would have won that race for sure and would have more stock beating Goldikova. Instead she lost to a complete nobody.

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow Lost to a complete nobody huh? Well FYI, that complete nobody defeated 9 Grade 1 winners this year. Bullsbay, General Quarters, Macho Again, Quality Road, Haynesfield, Mine That Bird, Rail Trip, Lookin at Lucky and not the least of which, Zenyatta herself. How many races did Zenyatta win in Grade 1 company this year? Oh yeah, zero. Her connections spent the entire year purposely avioding tough competition while Blame was taking on all comers in the big races.

  • @shooter297 Those are loser horses. Zen can beat them any time any surface.

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow And what do you call the sad-sack bunch of fillies and mares that Zenyatta ran gainst this year? Point is that Blame defeated all of those horses and plus Zenyatta. So calling him a nobody is just ridiculous.

  • @shooter297 - If you raced her with blame 100 more times she will beat him 100 more times. Zenyatta still has the best track record in history. When she lost it was a tiny margin. She never laid an egg losing. All the great horses have.

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow First of all, that's pure speculation. She had every chance to beat him in the Classic and couldn't do it so who's to say? She took her best run at him and couldn't go by him. In fact, she never went by him not even galloping out after the race.

  • @shooter297 - OK do you know any great horse that lost a race? If so, did they performed better than Zenyatta in their lost? Zenyatta by far exceeds all of them. Native Dancer has the second best record ever.

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow If you wanna see a great horse in defeat, I suggest on find Seattle Slew's 1978 Jockey Club Gold Cup on here. To this day, that is the greatest losing performance of any horse. Zenyatta's BC Classic doesn't even begin to compare.

  • @shooter297 Who do you project for the Classic this year? I saw Twirling Candy in the Malibu.........watch it..... It's only 7 panels but he's won I believe at 8.5 so the Classic may be in his range.....scary horse.

  • @MrFlapgargle It's way too early to be handicapping the 2011 BC Classic. With all the top stars from the last couple of years, Blame, Zenyatta, Rachel Alexandra, Quality Road and Lookin at Lucky all in retirement, we're gonna have to wait and see what new stars emerge this year. Twirling Candy was very impressive when he broke Spectacular Bid's 31-year old track record. If Lookin at Lucky hadn't been prematurely retired, I think he would have been the star of the Handicap Division but, oh well.

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow Quality Road and Lookin at Lucky are what you call "loser horses". If either one of them had won the Classic, they would have been Horse of the Year.

  • @shooter297 I don't know if you saw the 2010 Breeders Cup Classic but Quality Road decided to stop and lay an egg for you. Looking at Lucky got creamed by Zenyatta if you missed that also.

  • @LetsGetItStartedNow Qualtiy Road beat himself. Did you notice that the four horses that were duking it out up front early, First Dude, Espoir City, Haynesfield and Quality Road all finished at the back of the pack. Ironically, that just leaves even less of an excuse for Zenyatta because she got the pace setup she needed to run down the leaders in the stretch and still couldn't get it done. If she was the best closer, she should easily overtaken Blame in the stretch. She just wasn't good enough.

  • What really pisses me off is that Mike Smith had Zenyatta 3 wide on the turn, and instead of going around Fly Down, he dove to the rail. I can only imagine the kind of stretch run we would've seen if he came with her wide into the stretch. Like Dakota Phone (whom I had singled in my pick 6) did in the mile. He just didn't ride her with enough confidence, and couldn't get her out of traffic and going until Blame was already on the lead. Too late to catch a game Blame. Gomez ran a perfect race.

  • @blueyedhusky I blame the trainer more than anybody. Zenyatta got dirt kicked in her face and she was just oblivious to this. Despite Shariff's lack of experience to get her use to this, she did an exceptional job in the end. I didn't expect her to even show because of conflicts she had in the start. She won the race in my books. I don't know any other horse that performs better than her.

  • The thing is that Blame didn't stop at all. He actually had a similar racing style to Zenyatta, and Gomez didn't really start asking him until he saw Zenyatta coming. You can see him pulling away from Looking at Lucky in the last 100 yards, and had just enough left to hold Zenyatta off. Mike rode the rail too long. He could've easily have avoided having to alter course at the top of the stretch and lose momentum. It takes a while for a horse that big to re-gain it. That's where he lost the race.

  • @blueyedhusky - Yeah but blame cant do this all the time. He had an excellent trip. Despite the unfortunates that Zen had in the start, she ran an exceptional race. She consistently displays this effort through out her career. This unmatach by any horse. Native Dancer would probably fall second in my books.

  • I don't think she was too far back, to the contrary. I think Mike panicked and urged her way too early. She was only 5 lengths behind Blame on the backstretch. All the lead horses ended up the track. She could've spotted them another 10 lengths. Mike should've waited until the far turn to start her run. She would've had a lot more momentum coming into the stretch (like she was in last year's Breeders) and be flying in the end. It takes her a bit to get into her full stride. She was at the end.

  • Flores should of stayed on this horse. He would of never kept Zenyatta that far back. That was just too crazy what Mike did.

  • These are the unofficial results so you dont know if Blame won or Zennyatta won!!!! The Stewarts might say that Zennyatta won cuz Blame could have done something to cheat!!! Zennyatta might still get her 20-20 races!!!! The queen might still be on her thrown!!! Zennyatta Americas sweetheart!!!!

  • yea and unicorns are real

    dumass

  • @horshooer It wasn't Smith's fault. He stated afterwards she wasn't handling the dirt kickback. Not the surface underneath her, but getting it in her face. She was uncomfortable early and he couldn't control that. Had he asked her earlier, she probably still would have come up short. If I HAD to blame someone, it'd be Moss for not giving her a prep on the dirt to get accustomed to the surface and track. Zen is my favorite horse, but she was 2nd best Saturday.

  • @xmango93x This is bullshit!! She went from 20 lengths behind to loose by a measure less than my short dick!!!

  • @horshooer Just stating what Mike said after the race. No denying she was highly uncomfortable at the start, though.

  • @xmango93x Please tell me... How much dirt kickback is there when your 20 lengths behind??

  • Blame is the only Group 1 dirt horse Zenyatta has faced in her life and she got beat.

The fact that he is nothing special dosent bode well for Zneyatta lovers.
