  • This has air brakes?

  • All current uhaul trucks are powered by gasoline engines, the 26' trucks have the 496 (8.1) V8 with 5 speed transmission, the 24' trucks like the one in this video have the 454 (7.4) V8 with 4 speed transmission, the 14',17', 20' trucks all have V10s in them and the 10' trucks have the 4.8 V8 with either the 5 or 6 speed transmission depending on the model year.

  • @marshall0792

This is a 26 foot box.

  • @ICDave i ment the newer gmc 5500 chassis 26' trucks

  • Nice Allison transmission sound!

Is that thing a gasser? Seems kind of big for that. They should have specced them with diesel power.

  • @linuxnerdy I think majority of Uhauls fleet is gasoline. Simply because its easier to find gas stations that sell gasoline and plus lately diesel is more expensive. I doubt you will find a Uhaul truck with a Diesel engine for the future. I know they had some diesels but most of their fleet is gasoline.

  • i got a retired uhaul truck. 170,000 something miles. 454 bigblock. effing monster

  • how many MPG does a 14 ft Uhaul get? Does anyone know?

  • @mindbreaker21601

It would vary depending on whether or not it's loaded of course, but you can probably figure somewhere around 8-12 unloaded and somewhere around 8 or less loaded.

  • i work for uhaul...Hate it.... these trucks have the 366 fun to take muddin

  • 7.2 v8

  • @zachdaney13 all the uhauls are 366ci's. the other gas engine available with the topkick and chevy kodiak was a 427 7L. they were rare and were only used on tandem axel dumps on special order. by the time the kodiak and the topkick took over the C series, people were bent on diesel power, especially on heavier duty trucks.

  • 366 V8 Engine?

  • @4751424

Yes it is, that V8 is a monster.

  • Thats gotta be an allison AT545.

  • is this truck retired

  • @braineyboy

Negative. I imagine it's close to retirement though.

  • @ICDave Well you right but we might see some still driving its all depend

  • @ICDave I think Uhaul has a fleet age of at least 15 years maybe longer. Right now I know they are selling units as old as 1993 and maybe as new as 1995. Both GM and Ford. And how come you were renting this truck at the time? Were you moving or helping someone move?
