These people are shameless. It is non of their damn business in any way shape or form who weight is what. Kirchhof and any congress person who works with him are despicable corporatists. There would be no "health issues" facing the country if not for the evil scum bags taking over everyone's lives via unconstitutional and immoral legislation and their corporatist lackeys getting a piece of the action.
@kmg501 Well, so long as the young, healthy, and currently jobless are forced to buy insurance they can't afford, thereby subsidizing the extraordinarily gross costs of other peoples poor behavior--then yes, it is the people's business what someone's weight is. If health care is a right, then why is obesity not a crime? Do we charge drug-addled drunks the same auto insurance rate as John Q. Prudence? Then why do we do so with health insurance?
Either you are not an American or you aren't aware that health care is not a "right" in the U.S. which is exactly what the big problem is with what congress has been doing for decades. There is no constitutional basis to claim it is a right.
.
Our federal income tax, Social Security, Medicaid & Medicare, are all completely unconstitutional and an serious affront to anyone who claims to actually understand the constitution and founding principles of the U.S.
@kmg501 I believe it's a right in a philosophical sense, but one that could nor should ever be implemented. Rights entail responsibilities, in which case American health statistics eschew any claim to such a right. We're just too damn obscenely unhealthy.
The interesting thing that few realize is that prior to the unconstitutional LBJ programs of Medicaid & Medicare (1965), blue collar workers could readily afford insurance and routine medical care (check with NBER). It was after that the costs became prohibitive. And the reason is easy enough to understand, please read the following.
