i can't agree that technology brings you closer. The whole point of FREE HUGS is to show how hollow sitting alone in front of a computer compares to real physical interaction, even if it is a random hug. A hug from a stranger is always better than distant advice and support from web friends.

yes. i think we've become so insecure that it's taking that safe, comfortable technology piece to ease the discomfort of talking to people. technology also makes it easier to reach out to a new people group. if you're in a small town, the net lets you tap into cultural communities that don't exist nearby. i have to say: i love the people that i find via technology! you guys rawk!

Thats so true! The world moved the front porch mentality of sitting out front talking to neighbors to the back yard privacy fence with deck for immediate family.
