  • Cool

  • I carry my iPad in pocket all the time. No problem

  • a i cant download it dude

  • ipad simulator?! where did u find that??

  • @OrangeDudeAce In the iOS SDK.

  • I thought it was common knowledge that you could make calls. I use the app called Whistle. It is free, and I have been able to call several places with it.

  • Watch the phoneitipad video here on Youtube! Soon it WILL be possible to make native GSM calls SMS and even Facetime calls from the iPad!

  • @Wiebe55 We don't really need that mod. Those with jailbroken iPad 1G's can already do that with a few plist tweaks.

  • @maxhasadhd Go back to what?

  • this is easy, just get the whistle phone app for ipad. free calling forever

  • I would expect it to be able to be used as a phone too, FOR THAT PRICE!

  • The iPad can make phone calls. Two of my cousins called each other using an iPad and an iPod touch with some app.

  • Theres an app for that

    XD

  • and every other playstation game ever made

  • Well it does have a

    Microphone and speakers of course.

  • that music at the start of the vid. is taken from grand turismo 2 for playstation 1, isn't it? loool

  • @gumballtech you could actually make phone calls to and from the i pad.

if the ipad has the 3g connection. then you could make the phone call from anywhere. the truphone app that i had on my itouch was able to make phone calls to any phone. b ut it dont work on the i pad. so i had to get the app called line2 , it work great to and from calls, and even lets you chose your own number.

enjoy! and its free :) so far.

  • "Ipad Is Disabled"

  • Normal phone calls, as in a cell call? Obviously not since it does have the radio necessary to connect to the cell network.

  • @axual Why do you think there's a 3G version...

  • @axual yes you could make phone calls in/out on wifi or 3g.

  • get a life, cunt

  • @finnnnif I agree

  • WTF!?!?!?!?!

  • wow your all dumb dont you see the "iphone simulator" on the top of the "ipad"

  • @masterboby1 It's "you're" you shitface. And why don't you download the iPhone SDK for yourself? If you did, you'd know that the iPad shows up as the iPhone Simulator.

  • @masterboby1 yeah this actually WAS a feature in the iPad SDK before the release of the ipad so don't you look like a BIG IDIOT!

Also even now if you use the iPad Simulator it's still called the iPhone Simulator. So now you look like an EVEN BIGGER IDIOT!!

  • love the old sony playstation music i would diffenitly use ipad as a fone

  • heck yeah its posible, all they got to do is enable and install 3G, and EDGE capable radios with Wi-Fi support, then install the comunication apps that the iphone has. i know that the ipad already has 3G- and EDGE with wifi supported antenas, but the antenas need a special setup for phone calls, and SMS.

  • @techguy0711 The iPad has already been proven to send SMS...

  • if you watcht the keynote, you can see it is true for the 3g models en you can make a emercency call with a headphone

  • because of the iPad wifi+3G...they have the same software part at this chapter: e-calls....

but wifi can't make e-calls, and thats why it doesnt do anything

  • ok you really are an idiot, first of all it says ipone simulator. Second of all the SDK wasnt out then so you wouldnt of been able to get a real simulator

  • @Reynolds235 Do you know how stupid you just made yourself sound?

    1) No shit.

    2) Yes it was... Beta 1 baby.

Go research your crap before talking it.

  • @gumballtech it obviously wasnt seeing as the 29,331 people all agree

  • @Reynolds235 Your information is all incorrect. Do you see 30,000 reactions? No.

How about you go look at the release date for the first 4.0 SDK and then get back to me.

  • I've made hour long calls using my iPad. Download Skype, buy minutes, and away you go. Cheap and easy. Use it like calling on speaker phone.

  • Gumballtech. I don't know why but I cringe everytime you say that. I hate that name. Love the videos tho lol

  • it says "iPhone simulator" on top of this app

  • it says ipone simulater

  • @SupportDavidsfarm There's no such thing as "ipone simulater".

  • @gumballtech haha, so trivial

  • @SupportDavidsfarm do you know how to spell phone?

  • lol that audio from your intro. media blasters anyone?!?

  • this is fake people. just a bunch of uneducated people who have no idea what the ipad is and simply, what it can do!!!. NO, instead you whine and complain about stuff and dont even take the time to even think about what this device is capable of doing regardless if it's a big ipod touch. GO TO THE APPLE STORE AND TRY IT.

  • It's on the 3G version. For emergency calls.

  • if it does do call they should get brenda from scary movie to do it.

  • I am totally stoked about the new Ipad. While it has that gift of being relatively small, I love it for so much more. The idea of being able to communicate with a well built Mac system or Windows PC system if necessary; I love the idea on my 2-3 hour commute each way on the railroad that this becomes the perfect tool. Lets face it, the truth is the thing is a toy, but you can do what you need to and still play. I wouldn't have it be the first Mac item you buy, get a full size laptop.

  • it says "iPhone simulator" on top of this app..

  • Have you used the iPhone SDK before? Both the iPad and the iPhone is in the actual iPhone Simulator.app. There's a device switcher.

  • OMG Playstation Intro XD 5 star for that ;)

  • @Devastationable hahaha I thought it was, I was like wait itsnt that the playst..... nah

  • Who cares? All this does is emphasize the fact that apple half-assed the ipad.

  • if the ipad has the capability to process data at high speeds over the internet, technically you can make a phone call using an internet based service provider, but its reliability/quality may or may not be practical. There are alot of variable factors

  • wow that intro music brings back some memories

  • Obviously it has phone calls!! Steve Jobs clearly said in the Keynote that it has 3G and supports any micro-sim card and that the iPad can use any cellular service that provides you a micro sim and the iPad was not restricted to only AT&T or O2-UK like the iPhones.

  • he means the internet service on the higher end models is provided on 3G via carriers such as AT&T or T-Mobile or whatever carriers are partnered with Apple...

  • Thats so typical of Apple, and for most people the higher end is more than they will ever use; but for the extra couple hundred you spend, you buy the best. The Ipad is going to catch on like fire, and sadly it is going to be those who have never worked with a Mac system before that are going to be the major market in my opinion. The price is right. People have been paying $699 for Windows Laptops for years, so to get an Ipad with what it can do is a bargain. Just a serious guess though.

  • I agree that the iPad is going to be the killer product this year, but I would [still] rather (personally) buy a normal laptop over the iPad. Yes, they're bigger, but they're faster and can do more than the iPad. Oh, and cheaper.

  • @jjohnny60, I have been a Win/linux user forever. But I am impressed with the iPad and would love to have one to replace my notebook. But the deal breaker is lack of USB support. I can't imagine doing without USB. Don't know what the logic is behind leaving it out. It is certainly a viable replacement for the Netbook - in which case, it is expensive.

  • That's just for data anyway, so we'll have to see.

  • that is only for data transfer. not voice.

  • That has to be the biggest cell phone ever invented!!!

  • wow thats crazy

  • it could just be that they ported the iphone os over and changed some stuff around but never took everything out, like the ability to make calls

  • I'm really hoping that this isn't just a mistake on the Iphone simulator program.

If this does exist how long will it take a jail-broken version to be release where you can make more than just emergency calls.

  • Well the iPad OS is a modified version of the iPhone OS. Odds are the program will disable itself when you install it on an actual iPad. Maybe a lack of hardware will disable it.

  • I think this will be only in the 3G models since they are more capable of making regular phone calls with the SIM

  • if i ever should see anyone calling with such a big thing, i will probably lmao :p
