I don't vote because everyone that ever runs for something always supports things I dislike or doesn't be bothered fixing any of the things i've problems with in the country, so what?, i'm meant to vote for someone I don't like just because I "should"?. Love Craig though XD he rocks and even though I don't see eye to eye on the voting with him I still think he's one of the best interviewers on the tv.
He convinced me to vote in the next election in 2012! I can't vote yet because i'm only 14, but when I'm 18 I'm DEFIDENTLY going to Register to Vote! I'm a Prouder American than I was before, Ever since Craig became an American! :)
I agree with Craig, if you live in this world you are involved in politics. I think it is so sad that there is such a low turn out at the polls (it is not an exclusively American problem). The bottom line is it is the responsibility for every citizen to vote so make sure you get out there & do so! Please get the message out to your neighbours, friends, etc.
What discourages me from partaking in politics is that no matter who you vote for, you can't actually tell the successful candidate what to do - they decide this on their own.
Well at the same time you have the freedom to suggest laws to your governer or even the preisdent himself if you think it's a good iea and they'll consider it. The Greeks and Romans developed a democracy to bring people into government and give them more freedom to decide.
That's true, in theory. The problem is we see time and time again the level of corruption, greed, and the self-serving nature of politicians, which discourages me even more.
Even if someone goes into politics with the most noble of intentions, it isn't long before they are presented with one choice: cripple their unrealistic idealism or be forced out.
I'm not from the US, so my views may be somewhat more pessimistic than many.
hes a pretty articulate guy for a high school drop out xD
