b. There are trolley poles in front of the pantographs.
c. This is completley prototypical, the T's two pilot cars had trolley poles for use until the wires were adjusted for pantographs as well as panto's.)
What a wretched piece of equipment - it set the MBTA back twenty years! As with GM's cars, the Boeing LRV is a good example of what happens when accountants design rolling stock.
If you want these trains, they sell them on Ebay. They aren't cheap though.
I've noticed that Mehano did a really bad job painting them. The roof is not completely black though. The square near the pantograph is black and the square won the other side of the articulation is also black. However, the rectangular part between the pantograph and the part just before the cab is grayish and not black.
Mehano also neglected to paint in the 2 black stripes above the doors.
Yes the pantographs really works and they do do draw power to the motors. The poles really work as well. My wire height is 18 scale feet from the top of the rail. the trolley you see with the poles is #3402 that car was actually delivered to boston for the MBTA greenline service back in 1976. The overhead wire back then wasn't set up for pantographs so they used trolleypoles. So i figured i'll model that specific car because it has alot of history.
cHECK YOUR HISTORY. BOEING PUT THE PROTOTYPE OUT THERE WITH BLACK ROOFTOPS. I BELIEVE ALL THE BOEINGS HAVE THEM, MY MODELS HAVE ALL BEEN REPAINTED BECAUSE THESE ARE OVER 20 YEARS OLD. BUT YES THE ROOFS ARE ACTUALLY BLACK ON THE PROTOTYPES SO I PAINTED MINE BLACK ALSO. PLUS I THINK THEY LOOK WAY MORE DETAILED.
oh well, ive never seen a prototype. i see a boeing evry now and then in my commute to school at park st but they a getting very scarce because of them stupid bredas. and yes they do look pretty cool with the black roof tops... nice models

I like the trolley poles!
(By the way, anybody who flames me for that:
a. Yes, I know what a pantograph is,
b. There are trolley poles in front of the pantographs.
c. This is completley prototypical, the T's two pilot cars had trolley poles for use until the wires were adjusted for pantographs as well as panto's.)
