I don't think Chinese people get outraged about racism frequently enough to claim that this is a case of being overly politically correct. Growing up in a place where Asians weren't that common, saying "ching chong" and making slanty eyes were hurtful ways of making us feel inferior and different from the "norm." Many Asians have experienced this sort of treatment and so it can be a bit of a sore spot. Don't think Swedish or French people can say the same.

First, in my opinion, Rush did make his impersonation in a mean-spirited manner. If you don't agree, fine. Second, the problem I had with Rosie's joke was that she was trying to get laughs at the expense of a minority group. If she had done something like, "Everyone be talking about this. Even in Compton. They sayin', 'Chitlins, baby boo, watermelon, Danny Devito, Popeye's Fried Chicken, nappy hair, The View'", I'm sure more people would have realized how tasteless it was.

Ok... So Americans generally don't know Chinese, but they do know a few French words?  Hell, English came partially from French so it is understandable why we would know a few words. If Americans knew Chinese words, then they would use it. They don't, so they communicate very effectively which language they are referring to by use of sound alike tones, just like children learn to.
