this song is great and so is the story of an artist, but all his other songs are not good. sure the lyrics are interesting and it would be cool if a kid with mental illness would produce amazing music, but johnston doesnt. you guys are blinded by either the movie or by the idea of what he could be.

I'm 23 years old and first heard DJ on the KIDS soundtrack, and even though I'm a huge Sebadoh/Folk Implosion fan my favorite songs on the album were both DJ's, so I bought a copy of Yip/Jump Music, all well before they decided to make a documentary of him.

If you don't hear the amazing structure coming out of this completely untrained musician you're either deaf or just don't know better.

This guy actually has talent, there are people who think it's all about "Ooh, look at the crazy man OOH!" with the people that like his music, but it really is surprisingly well-crafted and unique in its eccentricity, not just a cheap exploitation thing like some other outsider artists get tagged as being.
