It was really hard watching Brian Pillman the last few years of his career, but THIS was the Brian Pillman I remembered and loved to watch! I would've like the see Brian Pillman vs. The Great Muta at the time, then a Brian Pillman vs. Shawn Michaels match would've been awesome!
If anybody thinks this match was good, then check out their rematch at "Clash of the Champions 9: New York Knockout." It was equally as good as this epic match.
Lugar - Another wrestler Vince Stole from a smaller promotion. Then that piece of shit whines on his DVD's that WCW stole his stars. That guy was stealing stars and putting smaller promotion out of business for years. I'm glad WCW had him shitting his pants.
I believe WCW from 1996 to 1998 was wrestling's best time period. I followed both wwf and wcw before that, but WCW really produced great television during that time. They made a couple of wrong moves (Sting not winning cleanly at Starrcade,Goldberg losing to Nash, not pushing younger talent),but still just had a great show. Sad that wwe started producing a bunch of Jerry Springer garbage, but WCW didn't have any counter punches. I really wish WCW was still going strong. Hopefully TNA can compete.
@scoresby33 agreed . . . . well there are a few moments that could be considered 'jumping the shark' moments for WCW (Sting not winning cleanly at Starrcade after much buildup, the NWO Hollywood/Wolfpack split, Goldberg losing via screwjob, the 'Fingerpoke of Doom').
@scoresby33 Maybe you`re right. But calling Vince McMahon a "piece of shit" is disgusting. Vince made Hogan, Vince made wrestling, wheter you like it or not...
i agree i like his style way better then ..he would give facts about the wrestler and sounded like he was calling a sport instead of telling a story
i loved him during the attitude era too...JR king owned that era
now he is just so...idk really dramatic and very storyline oriented during his announcing...he is still a legend just like you said the wwe in general is just not best at the moment
The change in his announcing his due mostly to the style that Vince McMahon is looking for. If JR were given free reign, I imagine it would be a lot like his WCW days.
Wow, that fan Lex is yelling at is ECW's Hat Guy

In his prime, Pillman was one of the best wrestlers on Earth...or any other planet.

everything moves in cycles..
for example boxing was huge in the 50's 60's 70's 80's and 90's
then died in the last 10 years or so,
pro wrestling was huge in the 80's and 90's but died kinda in the last 3-5 years.
the UFC and other type of cage fight is huge right now but for how long?
What needs to jump start wrestling?
