  • @Seefaco How is that even funny?

  • SNAKE!!!!

  • The end of this battle was hilarious "VIBRATION IS BACK!!!"

  • @MaxDamageProductions If you turn of vibration you will get a surprise :) Thats all i tell ya

  • @MaxDamageProductions it was DUEL SHOCK IS BACK HAHAHAHA

  • @TheEvilPillows Oh it was? Lol I have to go back and play it again.

  • MY DOLL! HOW DARE YOU!!

  • lol Honestly (THUMBS UP) if you think shooting those dolls of hers was pretty corny but yet interesting!!

    ((MY DOLL!!!))

    lol

  • @greenmanpagan It was haaaaard, she keeps on moving around and all

  • fuck man I cant hit that screaming mantis bitch on big boss extreme how can i get her

  • When she came teleporting towards me i seriously shat bricks.

  • that scream of hers is the part that freaks me out; when you pick up one of her dolls, she screams or something o_0

  • This music sure is sinister!

  • Screaming Mantis=Psycho Mantis

    Crying Wolf=Sniper Wolf

    Laughing Octopus=Decoy Octopus

    Raging Raven=Vulcan Raven

    Am I right?

  • Only partially. There's even more references:

    Mantis: The Fear, Vamp

    Wolf: The Sorrow, Fortune

    Octopus: Solidus

    Raven: The Fury

Those are the most obvious ones. Generally speaking, they mimic the emotions of the Cobra unit and equipment of Dead Cell.

  • Don't know why you got thumbs down. Sounds right to me.

  • But... Who's The End?

  • @GutaarGod

    My opinion?

    Solid Snake is The End.

Nearing the last moments of his life, he stands for one final fight, just like The End

  • wtf are talking about? snake is not the end play metal gear solid 3 the end is the old dude who is the sniper

  • You should play Metal Gear Solid 4, Snake is old in that one.

It's a great game to, definitely worth the play.

  • @lizardmanz i have played metal gear solid 4 and i had beaten the game over 7 times lol

  • @takeda155 no dumb shit, hes comparing snake to the end not saying he is the end

  • @GutaarGod The End is a ridiculously old dude (well over a hundred) who you haveto fight against on MGS3

he's very fast, can hear and see you coming a mile off, has a tranq mosin nagant+stun grenades and you hve to fight him across 3 sections of a jungle when he's in a camouflage suit that hides you 100% when lying down

  • is true?

  • Sorrow! My doll!

    My doll! Mantis!

  • *Snake runs into a weird room*

    *Lights switch on*

*Every Videogame Nemesis looks at Snake*

    Snake:Oh Shit.

  • @Sanandreas33333 You forgot to put this in your comment: !

  • lmao first time i played this I tried to change my controller setting to 2. LOL ohhh man the little codec scene was priceless. Hideo you foresee all my moves from the very beginning :P oh man....great boss battle. Lots of nostalgia here

  • I didn't even try that, but I saw a video on that on here. I was busting up so hard.

  • @Hardcoresnake247 I did exactly the same xD

  • That's exactly what I tried. I thought it would be smart since you saw Psycho Mantis in the video xD

  • every time i play online i chose as background music

  • I love when she goes "SNAAAAAKE!" while getting closer.

  • Why is there a video response? And why is it completely off topic?

  • does anybody know how to find da orcestra part dat was also played in dis battle?

  • Anyone else like how more "orchestral" they got with the theme music on Metal Gear Solid 4?

  • Got this from the metal gear wiki

The Beauty & the Beast Unit is a somewhat tribute to the Metal Gear Solid series bosses; as a result the name of each member of the Beauty and the Beast Unit is derived from the name of a member of FOXHOUND (from Metal Gear Solid), their weapons are a derivative of Dead Cell members' weapons (from Metal Gear Solid 2), and their emotions similar to the Cobra Unit member codenames (from Metal Gear Solid 3):

  • Laughing Octopus - Derived from the camouflage and name of Decoy Octopus, the P90 submachine gun and tentacles of Solidus Snake and the emotion of The Joy;

    Raging Raven - Derived from the name and flying accomplices of Vulcan Raven, the explosives of Fatman and the rage of The Fury;

    Crying Wolf - Derived from the name and fighting style of Sniper Wolf, the railgun of Fortune and the emotion of The Sorrow;

  • Screaming Mantis - Derived from the name of Psycho Mantis, the thrown knife weapons of Vamp and mixture of The Fear and The Pain.

  • @Vengeancereborn My Mind.

    Blown.

  • yeah they all did seem pretty similar

  • Crying Wolf also is like The End, with the element of sniping and camo.

  • @WillBFugly For me Crying Wolf was like Sniper Wolf. Everytime I got a shot at her she shoots me and makes me lose focus. Like the railgun afterwards though.

  • i beat crying wolf on big boss extreme by non lethal means...

sniper wolf was way more of a challenge as crying wolf... well if i had used a sniper instead of the nikita

  • @Vengeancereborn Love the way they've taken a bit of the bosses from the previous games and put them in the new ones

  • @Vengeancereborn old comment is old... the laughing octopus fight idea was gonna be used in a fight with decoy octopus, but they didn't have the technology to make it on the psx. instead they made decoy octopus the very first victim of FOXDIE, and that makes me remember him.

  • @Vengeancereborn i also think that Crying wolf is based on The End as well..

  • @Vengeancereborn So what ?

  • Yes I did like that more. Though you have to like the MGS1 music because it's classic. Also, did you notice that the other replies have nothing to do with what you said?

  • Yeah, finally a relevant post. And yes, I do appreciate MGS1's classic soundtrack. Then again, I appreciate all things Metal Gear Solid.

  • "IT'S SO FUCKING HYSTERICAL"

  • WHOOPS WRONG BOSS LOL

  • lol.

  • HAHAHAHAAA!

  • What weapons do the B&B's share with dead cell?

Mantis- knives she hardly uses (unless Vamp plays with dolls)

    Wolf- A miniature railgun

Octopus- Tentacles, a P90 (and yelling a lot?)

Raven- this one confuses me. Is it exploding stuff? Rollerblades? Insanity? Alchoholism? I don't know.

  • actually, i think that the B&B was meant to be more like the cobra units from mgs3, or at least similar to them.

    raven= fury

    octopus= fear

    wolf= end

    mantis= mantis+sorrow

    what do u think?

  • raven= vulcan raven + harrier + fury

octupus = the joy( the boss ) + solidus + decoy octopus

wolf = sniper wolf + the end or the sorrow + fortuna

Mantis = psycho mantis + vamp + the fear

    thats my guess

  • Raven + The Fury = Raging Raven

Decoy Octopus + The Fear = Laughing Octopus

Sniper Wolf + The End = Crying Wolf

Psycho Mantis + The Sorrow = Screaming Mantis

  • how the hell is fear laughing

  • Because of the active camo. only member in the cobra unit that had active camo. The only other person that uses Active camo anywhere else would be some genome soldiers in the first MGS or Grey Fox . I'm 100% positive Grey fox wasn't in the COBRA UNIT OR LIQUID SNAKE'S FOXHOUND.

  • i think you mean the stealth camo

  • I thought Screaming Mantis looked quite cool. Almost like a Hindu God and a Bionicle in one.

  • especially at the start of the fight when she meditates on top of the globe hologram, took a Photo of that :)

  • Heck!

  • have you seen it?

  • The picture? Might have.

  • SAW?!

  • octopus was HOT

  • The beauty side for the B&B Unit were based on actual people.

    Lyndall Jarvis (Laughing Beauty)

    Scarlett Chorvat (Screaming Beauty)

    Mieko Rye (Crying Beauty)

    Yumi Kikuchi (Raging Beauty

  • ye REAL MODELS

  • laughing octopus-decoy octopus

    raging raven-vulcan raven

    crying wolf-sniper wolf

    screaming mantis-psycho mantis :P

  • i find it is so cool how it relates loads of it back to the shadow moses incident

like laughing octopus and decoy octopus

    raging raven vulcan raven

crying wolf sniper wolf and you fight crying wolf in the same area as sniper

and screaming mantis psycho mantis who i thought was the coolest boss ever

  • Not only that the B&B Corps got their names from the FOXHOUND members at Shadow Moses, but their weapons come from Dead Cell members in MGS2, and their emotions come from the names of the members of the Cobra Unit in MGS3 Decoy Octopus+ Solidus + The Joy = Laughing Octopus * Vulcan Raven + Fatman + The Fury = Raging Raven Sniper Wolf + Fortune + The Sorrow = Crying Wolf Psycho Mantis + Vamp + The Fear = Screaming Mantis

I got this info from the Metal Gear Wiki

  • oh yeah i knew about the weapons from mgs2 but i didn't play the snake eater game

  • and where you left the End? from mgs3..=)

  • well they all had some things that resemble past MGS but i think it's more of the emotions of Cobra Unit and names of the Foxhound

  • Is there a seperate track for when Snake is fighting Screaming Mantis while he still doesn't use the Sryinge, the song that the battle starts with? Or is it some sort of version of Mantis Hymn From MGS 1?

  • its a remix by H.G.W

  • yeah i want that

  • SCREAM WITH ME

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

  • This song doesnt feel right without hearing the Screams

  • I agree

  • your right i was thinking the same thing there should be screams.

  • I feel bad for all of the ladies of MGS4. The Mantis,The Wolf,The Octopus,The Raven I think thats what its called.

  • you just have to be a cunt dont you?

  • Big Boss wasn't adopted by The Boss, she just became his mentor. The Sorrow never even married The Boss either, he died before they could, although they did have a child together.

So if Big Boss isn't the The Boss' son, adopted or not, Ocelot can't be Solid Snake's uncle.

  • wheres the evil chorus in the beggining of the track? with the chorus, it sounds like u cant beat her when u first fight her and u r like wut the fuk?

  • the bit where there's the chanty bit with the main tune for Mantis's theme? I'm wondering that myself

  • Yes I was trying to find that one too.

  • Man I thought Mantis would be a bitch to kill...She ended up being pretty easy to beat.

  • This theme is very creepy i love it!

  • AH! my favorite boss battle of all time! well, including the fact that Phsyco mantis is controlling screaming mantis... does the sorrow get any control at all??? or... is he just there? hmmmm... not alot of love for Solid Snakes Grandpa!!! XP

  • I think sorrow brought people back to life kinda

I dont know how its used though.... your talking about the puppets right?

  • No, he's talking about the ghosts of the Sorrow and Psycho Mantis. We know that Psycho Mantis controls Screaming Mantis, but he is talking about the Sorrow's role.

Also, someone is spamming negative scores.

  • isn't it the sorrow who destroys psycho mantis once he manifests and makes the memory card reading/rumble jokes? And...um...the sorrow isn't solid snake's grandpa.

  • This battle was so damn amazing!

  • i kinda like the slow version as in the part where there is the choir singing. Does anyone know where i can find that part of the song?

  • MGO has it... kinda... go online and hide in a match some where and listen xP (i was doing that a few min ago)...... that or just search psycho mantis or mantis hyme...

  • I know about that but i wish someone would put up a youtube video of it. And i hid in a cardboard box listening to it :P

  • Screaming Mantis reminds me the iconic Psycho Mantis.

  • "Let me hear you scream! Howl! Roar! From the very depths of your soouul!" xD I love this boss fight. It's my second favorite. My first favorite being Laughing Octopus.

  • Is it true that Psycho Mantis's spirit appears after you defeat screaming mantis? I dont care if i get spoiled im not getting a playstation 3 for a while.

  • Yeah. He even does the old tricks with the memory card and the vibration XD Funny funny stuff really o.o The Switching doesnt work like it did before. Otacon even busts you for trying it. xD

  • Yea I was also hearing he posseses Meryl again lol.

  • Yeah he tries but if you don't use a memory card and don't have a Dualshock3 he's like "WHAT? You've gotten better."

  • Which one is the song that plays when Screaming Mantis has you under control (you are not able to shoot at her)?

  • I'm wondering that too , it doesn't seem to be on the soundtrack it almost sounds like a remixed version of the twin snakes psycho mantis battle theme

  • You have no idea plus he is back

  • They're very simialer. Not only are they psychic, but one of the marionettes that Screaming Mantis is always carrying around is of Psycho Mantis (the other being The Sorrow).

  • Protip : Screaming Mantis' psyche was deleted and they inserted Psycho Mantis' persona into her body.

  • really?i never wouldve guessed...actually tis kinda obvious buddy.

  • reminds me of Phyco Mantis's boss fight, that sort of insane fight tune.
