Those older historical christians of 1500 years ago did not have wide impact and did not grow in great numbers since they were not backed up by modern imperialism.
The present day big numbers of christians around the globe are the direct result of Western European invasion and colonialism of non-Western cultures over the last 300 years.
Christians celebrate Columbus as a good who started spread of Christianity to savages. But for non-West it was the beginning of cultural and actual genocide.
Which calender do you use? The Dead Sea scrolls prove the reliability of the scripture at least 200 BC. Isaiah foretold the coming Christ and his execution 600 BC. Christ foretold the temple destruction (70AD) and the diaspora. Josephus lived to recorded the events and the history of the temple issue after the fact.
