  • Classic ... what memories this brings back ... love it!

  • i remember when i was stationed in Sicily, waiting in the park outside elephant square, kept checking my watch till the sun turned into a moon, but she came before I felt like a fool...Good memories!

  • @Tobaay956 I am happy for you, when the person you love is without you locked up , nothing is the same with out them, the weekends, b-days , Holidays, is like they are muerto en vida, You are finally agusto when they come home.

  • Thanks for sharing this beautiful and flawless song.

  • Nice Song ,And its Cool....

  • There's four idiots out there that don't have a soul, just be glad that you're not one of them. BILLY STEWART will live on forever. FYI Billy's drummer was Maurice White of Earth Wind & Fire.

  • @Jqau very interesting bit of info on White, thanx!

  • @Jqau 4 boneheads got stood up in the park...

  • I had cousin who who was around Billy age and I was a kid; he would sing Billy's songs and I really loved this music. Music isn't made like this anymore maybe if it were there would not be some much violence among the youth.

  • This is my cousin Billy Stewart from Wash, DC. Billy was a Chess Recording artist in the 50's and 60's and was discovered by Bo Diddly, and his uncle Calvin (Hound Dog) Ruffin. Billy wrote and recording the 60's hits "I Do Love You" and this classic "Sitting In The Park". Billy died in 1970 when his vehicle plundged into the Neuce River in NC along with 3 of his band members. I am proud of my Family's Music History-Recording Artist Dane Riley

  • @enadriley Thanks for sharing this. You should be proud. These three songs, "I Do Love You," "Sitting in the park" and "Summertime" have been favorites of mine since I was a little kid.

  • WOW!!! THANKS!!!!!

  • SITTING IN CITY TERRACE PARK THROUGHOUT THE 90'S. BIG BAD LOTT STONERS 13 GANG. BORN AND RAISED IN E.L.A. ALWAYS HAS BEEN ALWAYS WILL BE..

  • Myrtle Beach (SC) days!!! My how this takes me back to those days...Sun, sand & shagging! Wow...Billy Stewart, you left us far to soon!!!!

  • This one and "I Do Love You", are two absolutely awesome and beautiful songs! Boy do I miss when they made music like this, when the words and melody meant so much!

  • @trucking604 i am not old but even i kno wat music is good now lol n yes those songs r awsome :|)

  • No disrespect but I'm going to have to go with Brenton Wood on this one!

  • If you're gonna argue over such an immense tune...Man, I think yer missing the point.

  • Bumping this out of my 62 nova muscle moter cross town LA bra. And I'm English. And man, if you're gonna argue over such an immense tune... I think yer missing the point.

  • cool cool music

  • One factor that makes this song and version so great in my opinion, is the tempo!

  • I love this song...real music

  • An absolutely STUNNING song, so full of genuine passion and sorrow, and for my money ONLY the great Billy Stewart could sing it properly! IMHO this man deserves to be in the RRHOF a helluva lot more than many who are already there!

  • BUMPING T HIS OUT OF MY 68 IMPALA LOWRIDER....CRUZIN LOW AND SLOW...MODESTO CALIFAZ 209

  • This version makes me think of the 1970s. I miss those times even moreso than the 1980s when I was in high school. My mom was around then, until 1992. Man I dread growing old. you never know how long you have on this earth. enjoy it as much as you can!

  • MY TIME MY TEARS!

  • My X girlfriend love this song very much she always cried .

  • Reminds me of my school dayz....

  • I just discovered Billy Stewart. Great R&B from the mid-60s.

  • This music brings back such an innocent time for me, when little girls stood on one side of the school gym waiting for that special little boy to ask her to dance...wow...how times have changed, and not necessarily for the better either

  • @mickishel I'm with you on that sister. I just didn'r realize the song gripped someone else the same way. I think of the times with my family back in the 1970s and a portion of the 1960s (I was born in 1966). These times were good and the days ahead just don't look promising and can't hold a candle to those times back then!

  • i bump this hella loud in my 79 deville low low classic

  • ONE OF THE GREAT ONES....

  • It is hard to beat Billy Stewart, even 40 years later!!!!

  • love it. I love Billy Stewart.

  • This is one of my all time favorite songs. I lived near Myrtle Beach South Carolina years ago and this song was popular .

  • i would buy an album like this nowadays.

if artist were still to make music like this.

the closest to this type of music is Raphael Sadiqq

  • I think he was so much better than this song. What a talent, the stars of those days did what you heard - it was their bread and butter. I hope Billy is rememberd for his great talent into the next century because that's what he deserves.

  • This song is my fav oldies song,

    R.I.P

    Billy Stewart

  • I am so glad for all the positive responses to this song. This too is one of my all time favorite songs. My older sister who passed away recently use to play it all the time when she was a teenager and I was younger it has since, always remains an integral part of my heart. Thanks for the comments.

  • @melorock3496 SORRY TOO HEAR THAT ..RIP TO YUR SIS...NOTHING LIKE OLDIEZ...USTO BLAST THIS WHEN I WAS 14...AND I STILL DO AT 40...YUP

  • @melorock3496 You know it's funny. Just to let you know that my brother passed this pass October, and when this song came out, we were going to those parties and get-togethers, and I played this song alot especially after he passed. I thought I was the only one doing this. Just to let you know that "Maurice White" of "Earth Wind and Fire" is playing the drums on this. I was 12 and he was 15 when this came out. Thanks for letting me know that I was not the only one going thru this.

  • Awesome song....how of us waited? And got tired of it and gave up!!!

  • this without a doubt is the version with the most meaning...if you old enough to remember trying to say please, baby please, when you messed up....

  • An absolute GEM of a song that's like a true friend:precious but rare! It's stilla shame that Billy Stewart is no longer with us today.May God love & bless his soul.

  • I thoughth that I loved GQ's version; which I still do, but this is so classic and now I am torn between two lovers!!! lol Thanks for sharing with us!!

  • Billy, Billy, Billy............what can I say, when you've said it all! Simply the best!

  • apparently Billy preferred Georgie Fames version , or that could be one of those urban myths I've been lead to believe, they're both very good though.

  • this is beer music....

  • OH, THE GOOD OLD MEMORIES this brings. Long ago....long long ago...

  • classic.

  • Although my boys Raheem, Sabu and the rest of GQ (Respect West Farms & Lambert Houses, South Bronx) did a great job with this song, Billy's version is classic!

  • Was GQ a cover band? All I know they did a GREAT job with these songs by the time i was born in the 70's

  • This song will never get old.

  • It sounds "Old Skewl" this has 2 be the ORIGINAL.

  • It is, Billy actually wrote this....

  • This is the original...still fantastic!!!!!

  • is this like the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL VERSION OF THIS SONG?? I NEED TO KNOW SINCE IM CONFUSED SINCE SO MANY PPL HAVE RE MADE IT

  • Yes, this is the original. As a matter of fact, Billy Stewart wrote this...

  • Why does he keep changing colour?

  • lol

  • God this is the First time I've heard this version where the hell were they hiding THIS??? GQ is good too, but this has that great DOO WOP feel I love. Now I know why everyone wants to do it!!!

  • As a Philly boy, I grew up on the music of Billy Stewart. Classic...

  • Me and my daughters were having a picnic at the park last weekend and this song came on the radio we brought with us. We had a lot of people came over to us just to listen to this great song! That just goes to prove that Billy Stewart is the best. 44 years after this song is released, his voice is still deeply admired by many.

  • Awesome! amazing! 100% classic soul ballad!!!!

  • i lOVE THiS!!!!

    FiRME jAM!

i WiSH i WUSZ BACk iN THOSE qOOD OlD DAyS.

  • My Englishman music friend, I certainly respect your opinion. Everyone's music ear is a little different. For my ear, Mr. Fame couldn't carry Billy Stewart's sheet music. This song drips with soul. It cannot be duplicated by Fame or anyone else that I've ever heard try to do it justice. Enjoy all the music. It is a universal language.

  • good job

  • loving this shit

  • dis song is bad ass its better than the new shit their making

  • your ears must be in your bunions! This is a real soul singer! Someone immersed in soul, born in it. but then again you Brits always think the music you mimic from American music is always better.

  • everyone has soul. But this music, soul/r&b, has its roots in Black American gospel music . The best singers in this genre of music have always come from a Black church gospel background, that cannot been disputed. Neil Young's "soul" is not like that of Bobby Womack who is straight out of the Black gospel tradition. very different styles of music. Fame does not have the soul this music was built on. You left out soul, funk, R&R, r&b, country, bluegrass, Brits seem to like those also.

  • Isso é que é classe ! Muito obrigado!

  • LOVIN LOVIN LOVIN this!
