  • The Best there has ever been or will ever be

  • I know what lousparre means. I used to think that Shakti would be so much better if Zakir was left to do his own thing without McLaughlin influencing the sound. I have known Zakir's reputation and his playing for years. Then I started getting into Jazz and by accident discovered McLaughlins very serious Jazz heritage and how he had worked with some of the giants of Jazz. I now hear Shakti differently. Its a very very clever blend of Jazz, classical indian and experimental music from both.

  • Interesting ,,, I used to think much the same of McLaughlin until I saw an early video of him with ZH, It was clear that they had a mental telepathy about rhythm and melody. At this level of musical skill, they do what "they" want, not what others have done. I remain seriously impressed by both of them. Stat at about 5:18 and watch him learn the rag to be able to play in unison with the ensemble.

  • I see the word "cheesy" on a page like this and it forces me to admit the terrible truth that some people got peanut butter instead of a brain that works when they were born.

  • ok..what you'rehearing now is live music or if i may say jamming in a way or another...

those guys sit and practice for almost 10 years....

everyday 5 am till 5 pm to reach that level of divine music...and connection in playing ...

and your concerned that it's cheesy or not..

    grow up man

  • This is music of one voice through four people.

  • stop jiving out lousparre its his concepts and in many respects their right. i preffered shakti when he played acoustic cos there was more emphasis on the entirity of the whole band. this is music. its infinite so just jam out to what you like :)

  • jesus. you guys are getting all offended. I just don't like the way he plays. I don't like the notes he hits. i don't like the sound of his guitar. I think he's cheesy. Why do you give an F?

  • I was there and I will cherish the magic in my heart

  • Love it, I do...

  • @mehar1996 ... death metal is just amazing

  • omg epic. makes me wanna jam with my bro! me on tabla, him on guitar. now, only if he could stop playin death metal...

  • @lousparre so cheesy??? man, you don't know shit about music.

  • @fabianidhesona You have bad taste dildo.

  • @lousparre if u find this cheesy then why u ended up in this page go n listen to lady gaga instead

  • @MultiShark85

the whole thing sounds like the soundtrack from night court bro.

    :56 - cheesy note bend

    1:24 - 80's riffing

2:17 - sounds like a huey lewis and the news song

i can't listen to anymore than that without wanting to throwup. love zakkir.. its not his fault this is cheesy. Sorry you guys have bad taste. Go download some Paco de Lucia, Tomatito, Luis Bonfa, Baden Powell.... real players whose music is timeless and doesn't sound like the nightcourt soundtrack. ps you're dumb

  • @lousparre I've read some ignorant things in the last 40 odd years, but your comment tops the lot!! I sure wish I could play as 'cheesy' as him.
