its a good cover. but i freaking hate elect drum kits for metal. specially because its a thousand times easier to go fast on the toms. they have WAY to much reverb. but good cover.
@MorrissonNL Well, if you look closely, you can see he makes his pedal bounce whenever he hits it. I understand what you mean by how is it possible to play that fast with just 1 pedal, but watch the vid again, and watch the pedal, it bounces.
@joel619rdW This might sound lame but it just takes a LOT of practice. I've played this song many times. I remember the first time I tried playing it, I could only play about 10 seconds of it! :)
That's the awesome drum cover of My Spirit Will Go On I've ever seen!! U are a genius!!!!! You should do another DragonForce song drum cover! XD XD XD XD
@Silv3rcr0ss Thank you! Yeah, I'm actually planning on recording another one soon off the new album. It's been too long since I have recorded one and this time it will be a lot better quality. :)
That was amazing man, i wish i could get my double bass to sound as flawless as yours, im working on it tho, its still a bit sloppy tho, you should do more dragonforce, u definitely have the skill for it...
Nice. Great job! If you do another Dragonforce (and I hope you do), please do one off of UltraBeatdown. Reasons to Live has some cool parts from a drumming perspective!
Thanks everyone for all the great comments. I'm glad you all have enjoyed the video. I have a better camera now, so any future videos I record will be much better quality! :) Thanks again!
FINALLY! someone with electric drums that records it correctly. I hate hearing the pads being smacked during drum covers on these electric sets. it's like listening to fuckin rock band.
why do people buy these electric drum sets? they're just as expensive as the normals, some more expensive, and i don't play drums but if i could afford one I'd want to feel the noise and hit them super hard and stuff
Believe me, I would love to have a real set but since I live in a small neighborhood where the homes are very close, I would make a lot noise and have the police at my door eventually! :) Also, it would drive my family crazy because I don't a great practice space with sound isolation. Hopefully one day, I can get rid of this set. But until then....
alright man i get u, my neighbors would kick my ass out too, i cant even watch movies with my home theater cuz they'd be right on my doorstep yelling and making more noise than i was
Ha, dragonforce is good in moderation but I mostly like it for playing drums to. They have some challenging songs and playing to their music really improved my endurance and speed which in turn helped me in other parts of my music. Dragonforce isn't my favorite band but I do think some of their songs are really good in the speed metal genre. :)
Damn fine job. Just a suggestion, raise the hight of your snare. I used to play low, and double bass for years. I found that my legs were basically in the way for any decent snare work. (rim shots single hand rolls ect) my snare is almost level with my navel now. it took a bit to get used to but the results are worth it. You may have to raise the hight of the high hat and toms a bit too. Give it try and see if this helps. Peace and keep rocking on!!
Dude stop being so awesome youre going to tear a whole in the fabric of reality. Even if you made mistakes youre better at covering this than anyone else ive seen
Yes, I'm using a single bass drum with a double pedal. It didn't come with my v-drum set. The pedals I'm using are dw 9000's. Pretty good pedals but I think I like the feel of the 5000's better.
Good attempt I haven't seen many Dragonforce drum covers that are this accurate and I have looked through a lot. Your feet are definitely your strong point as they lock in with the beat well. As you say your snare hits aren't always keeping consistent and I can tell your blast beats aren't one of your strongest points so they need a bit of working on. This is only constructive criticism though. Check out my Dragonforce cover of "Reasons to Live" on my channel and give it a comment.
fucking hell dude, not even my drum teacher has a faster foot than you and he's been doing it for 20 years! Christ, I would LOVE to hear you with a double bass D: Make a video of it!
Thanks. The kit I'm using is a Roland TD-12. It's the smaller and cheaper version of the TD-20. I've had the kit for about 3 years now and it still works great.
I think when I purchased my set it was around $3,000.00. It's a pretty expensive kit but worth the money if you want one of the best electric kits around. There are lots of other good kits out there for a lot cheaper if you don't want all the fancy features and buttons! :)
Your drum cover is awesome. A great tribute to an outstanding song, if I may say so. "My Spirit Will Go On" not only opened the door for me to love DragonForce but it also made me really want to expand my taste in music, metal (sub)genre or not. Seriously! Well, kudos to you for this kickass drum cover, pal.
Thanks! Yeah, it's a pretty good song. That's cool your from Austria. I lived in Schladming for about 4 months a few years back. It's a nice town and really beautiful.
Yeah, I've played in a lot of bands since I started playing drums like 12 or 13 years ago and I'm in a band right now and I mostly just play rock/contemporary stuff. I like to play death/speed/power metal on the side just for fun! :)
Yeah, the snare does sound like crap. I'm just too lazy to spend time and make it sound good because I'm the only one that ever hears it. :) Thanks for the comment, though.
