What did you use? My father and I once made a distinctly hazardous volcano simulation: first we built a cone out of modelling clay, then we put sodium or ammonium perchlorate in the 'crater', using magnesium strip as a fuse and in the 'crater' as well I think. Result: fire + sparks + green-coloured lava flows (ash residue from the perchlorates I think)! My mother I think was a bit apprehensive (both of us survived unharmed like the guys here though).
