In comparison to Christie's earlier 1987 interpretation, the present seems Sooooo different. Enhanced markedly by wonderful heart-felt singing. The 1987 version by comparison is emotionally dry............The wonderful thing though about the work is the ballet interludes!......I am now a convert to french baroque ballet....The emotion and drama is unique.
Hi @bklynsheep ! Cyril is the man in the right of the singing quartet who starts with 'régneeeez' XD. The one in center is the wonderful Paul Agnew. Anyway, they both are great singers. And, yes, Auvity definitily has a 'je ne sais quoi'. :-)
Unbelievably sumptuous rendition: the way French Baroque should be revived, it sets such a high standard that its overtake will be a hard job..

THANK YOU for sharing this! All the singers are exquisite, but Cyril Autivy (Morphée, in center)...oh, what a beautiful voice.
