  • Ridiculous - the question was related to wood-working, how long will the legs last on that table?

Worse still, by your bookcase method, I need to buy a giant block of wood and

what, carve the whole centre out of it?

I know you are demonstrating, but it has nothing to do with wood-working, you should have demonstrated creating the pieces, i.e. 2 sides, top, bottom and back, then on to supports for, and shelves.

What you have done shows zero understanding of basic woodworking principles.

  • @Josabooba Google Shetch-up isn't about engineering furniture. It's about 3d modelling. Mike has replied with a basic method for creating furniture, such as a table or a cabinet. If you keep on checking other tutorials, you'll see how to make more detail on the legs or the table itself. Or how to create glass doors for the cabinet.

What you have commented shows zero understanding of basic tutorial principles.

  • @Josabooba maybe, it will be better if we use tips from "sketchup for woodworking" book. in it, it's all woodworking related topics.

  • ohhh please anyone explain the shelf making?

  • didn't get it.. 5:50 .... help!

  • @keng44wai Easy. You have a lower shelf at the base. You copy it (With move tool + Ctrl / Optn key, for copying) towards the top. So you now have two shelves. Then you want to divide the space by 5 (creating 4 different shelves) so you type in "5" which is the amount of middle spaces you want and then "/" which is the universal divide symbol.

Sorry to necro this comment, but any new viewers might find it helpful.

  • how do you make all the selfs in once? i dont get what u say and i have pc and i'm european therefore metric system

  • Thank you very much for you help.

  • rounding corners with follow me doesn't work...

  • 1. draw the arc as shown

    2. use the select tool and select the top face of the table

    3. select the follow me tool and select the arc

how it works, it work for me

  • I agree with the other comments here, this has little to do with woodworking. The table was ok, as every piece was a separate component, however, the "shell" he made for the book case, makes no sense in the real world. You can't find a "book shelf shell" and a home supply store.

The question raised he how to easily work with the idea of separate pieces of wood within Skethcup. I want to easily build that "shell" out of multiple pieces of wood, and I'd like sketchup help me do that.

  • This guy is SOOOO easy on the eyes! Yum!

  • Yeah that opy shelf and its spacing took me a few minutes to figure out. it has to do with the copies shelf component and those red arrows before moving it up to the op.

  • okay ...you have to move the shelf to the top and after that type " 4/" and ENTER...yeah

  • Greeeeeeaaaaattttt!!!!!!

I love it! You are really a Master!

But...I have a question : wich tool is in light grey in the right side of the screen? It appears also in others videos.

Is it only in the 6 pro or also in the simple 6?

Thank you so much in advance.

  • I meant shelf's... :D:D

  • that has NOTHING to do with woodworking... AT ALL! how is this different from any other on these videos? helpfull yes, but woodworking?

  • This is what I'm saying. Nothing to do with woodworking. I think the guy missed the point of the question. I think he was looking for tips on Printing the model with wood workable dimensions.

  • how do u do that part that the selves are separated neatly witout copying?

  • if you're having problems with this I recommend the 'move tool' video tutorial available on the sketchup site, that tells you all about what happened there.

  • how do you make the lines straight

  • you can hold down the shift key while you're drawing a linein order to lock an inference. you can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to lock to an axis direction while you're drawing a line. (up/down = blue, left/right = red/blue)

  • i really don't get the part where they divide the shelves evenly among the distance given
