that couldn't have been the starlight because it was running backwards. i think its the capital corridor, but still unsure....

For me it was just a guess on the Starlite. Maybe it is the one that goes over the Donner Pass into Nevada I think that one is called the CZ?

Yes I believe that is a daily train & I think at least one way it does go thru the Donner during D/lite hours

The CZ doesn't go to Oakland. It ends at Emeryville. Oakland passengers take a bus from Emeryville.

The train is either a Capitol Corridor or San Joaquin train.
