@tvrzanda Neal didn't throw an elbow don't be mad because a player got hurt on the team that u like. Neal kept his shoulder down and the guy that got hit didn't have his head up. So quit trying to stick up for your player. He got owned by a clean hit. that's it. And I'm obviously not stupid because I know hockey better than you.
clean hit. the thing that bugs me, this was the same ref crew we had the night before in colorado where hanzal got a boarding major and game misconduct in the final minutes of a close game for a hit that wasnt dirty at all. then they see this and not anything.
oh well hanzal did what he had to do taking on neal in the game and this is squashed.
Obviously it's not good if the glass is too inelastic, but I don't think the glass itself was at fault here. It looks like Prucha hit his head right on the stanchion.
I was at this game and could not believe that anyone could think this was a dirty hit. The whole crowd was in an uproar saying he threw his elbow and that he should be thrown out of the game. This was a 100% CLEAN hit. Nothing wrong with it, just because someone got hurt does not mean it was an illegal hit. If you think this was dirty, please quit watching/attending hockey games, you obviously don't know anything about the game and just embarrass yourselves by throwing out wild accusations.
It can either way on this, but i think where Neal is in trouble is that he made contact with as Prucha was defenseless. I think it is just going to depend what side the NHL wakes up on tomorrow or after the Olympics.
@Stainlesssteez1 of course its like a qb getting blindsided expect the contact to come. but theres a difference between a body check and throwing a quick elbow as the player goes by.
how may you attain that little bit of an assumption, because you're 100% wrong, you can play touch hockey without going for a guy's head...i'm all for center ice shoulder checks to the head, but when a guy has the glass right next to him, something where he'll be crunched into, then sustained damage can be sustained
@leetbarker if you want to suspend Neal for that hit, then suspend EVERY player in the NHL becuase that hit happens thousands of times each hear but once in a while a player will hit the boards wrong and get hurt. Doesn't mean the hit was dirty. If he wouldn't have gotten hurt no one would be saying a dam thing. Why? because it was a clean hit but someone got hurt so it must be illegal
It's a very innocent and routine looking hit. He clearly made contact along Prucha's shoulder and intended nothing more than that. It was the whiplash into the hard glass that likely caused the injury. Like it's been stated before: there was no elbowing, charging, or boarding. It's not illegal just because it ended badly.
It's the type of glass they use at that arena, it's not very forgiving to hard physical play. It's solid tempered glass, whereas the glass at the AAC in Dallas is more like plexiglass and is more forgiving. I applaud James Neal for finishing his hits and maintaining a physical game, he and Jamie Benn are keys to the future of the Dallas Stars.
Hockey without checking people is like football with out the end zone. That was a clean hit no doubt. I bet it hurt BUT thats hockey for ya(:

I think defenseless and watching your pass/dump in are very different things. If you've just touched the puck expect contact.

Nothing illegal about hitting someone in the head. Brilliant.
