i wish i could have seen her as elphaba. i saw a picture of her in the green and i think she's the only one who looks relatively like how they describe elphaba in the book. she has such sharp, but beautiful features.

I met her the other day. She sang in a concert with Gary Maeur and Virginia Woodruff in my area. One of the NICEST and FUNNIEST people I've ever met. Her comedic timing is impeccable, and she is SO TALENTED...have I mentioned that she is so NICE? :)

With respect, "beautiful" is not the point of this song. Andrew Lippa (on the piano) wrote it for Julia Murney and knows her voice and acting intimately. He knew how Julia would sing it and how thoroughly she would inhabit the song. Ms. Tomsko does some lovely, careful, student singing, but it's not helpful to compare them.

I totally agree. I love when singers, especially Julia have that roughness that's not necessarily "great singing" but just a sense of really pushing. Her presentation and acting while she sings is just so great that she's able to make vocal sacrifices for the sake of a piece's mood or meaning.
