I don't get it... Is the city guy gonna die now?...god i feel slow. Anyways very nice work. I was interested till the end and it was very professional... I just need someone to explain
The cinematography is beautiful. It's a little cliche, the whole woman dying in a tragic bus accident part, but I thought the rest was very nice, especially for a student.
wow, this is amazing. I thought the beginning was a bit boring, but then, in the end, when he bought the balloon of the boy and the boy started running just before the credits, my mouth was dropped open! I'm dreaming of doing something like this too!!
No, and we'd be extremely wary of any school that promises 100% placement rate, especially in industries like film. Does being an indie producer count? What about freelancing or contract positions? Our goal is to give our students every advantage possible - a professional network, a high-quality film/reel/portfolio, and knowledge. But, as with any school, the difference is what the graduate does armed with all of that. No industry deals in absolutes or hires based only on educational background.
Oh, and not to get into a lengthy side-by-side - but bear in mind that the tuition for the one-year program at VFS should be compared across the full length of other programs (often 3-4 years, though not always), and that includes living expenses for those years. Our curriculum is very carefully designed and balanced so that students basically get the same amount of education in 12 intense months. [/soapbox]
this guy is retarded. you're right. and we only use arabic phrases because arabs attacked our country and tried to seize some parts. our culture and language are basically different.
I think that when the girl gave him the umbrella, she died, so now because the man passed it on to the boy, the man will die, until the boy passes it on to his father, and then the boy will die. It acts as their soul, as their life. And it teaches the lesson overall.
One of the best short films that a VFS student has ever produced. Love the story, love the acting, love the direction, love every single thing about this short. Excellent! Please continue making outstanding films with an exceptionally captivating storyline. It is films like this that one turns into a cinephile.
very powerful. i wanted more misfortune to happen to the well off city man... but i suppose he showed a bit more human side at the end. good way to conclude into credits.
Oh why did you want the city man to be sad?! He was a good man - he came back to return the umbrella and gave the boy money for his ice cream. Do you wish him bad luck simply because he had a car and lived in the city?
Wealth is all relative - he seems like he wouldn't be a wealthy man by our standards, but he was wealthy by the standards of the people who had to sell newspapers and figs to earn a living.
hi everybody. This is Mohammad Gorjestani, i am the writer and director of this film. please check out and support my new film im trying to get off the ground. since i cant post the website in this post please go to google and search "a dream I once had about an apple" that should get you to films website. you can also contact me through my youtube account and ill forward you info. Simple. Honest. Pure. To tell the truth, I found the dialog a little stilted and the story a little predictable, but what beautiful symbolism and how beautifully photographed.
looks so real

Beautiful and I wished it were more to it very well shot and written
lonnie1981 2 years ago
Amazingly well written and executed. Shot in such a professional manner I forgot I was viewing a student film.
The only thing stopping me from applying at VFS is the price unfortunately.
Although Emily Carr, SFU, York and Concordia have very prestigious film programs for a reasonable tuition.
Although I do have one question; Where was this film shot?
KickingKids 2 years ago
The incredible roadside location was shot in Richmond, BC. You'd hardly know it, huh?
