so in short during a title clearance process out of the 1000 dollars that it costs to purchase title insurance only about 4 dollars will go to the person who processes the actual work the rest is held for "insurance" ...I can see the scandal

I worked at a brokerage firm that processed title clearance's...basically I would do research on a title to make sure that the purchaser's had no other mortgages or tax liens and that the property was already free of other mortgages or debt...and that the purchaser was informed about PUD policy's(things like house color regulations and etc.)...in short I could process about 5 of these per hour as a new employee and I was only paid 10 dollars per hour to process these. It is insurance though...

I find it interesting that Mr. Johnston has a book called "Free Lunch" that points out how it is wrong for corporations and wealthy individuals to get something for nothing by using government but seems to think that going to school for "free" was a good thing.
