Check this at youtube, you wont regret: 'Desarrollo Sostenible - Música en la Amazonia Boliviana'
In this week, the 2010 festival will begin, the next one will be in 2012...the atmosphere in such zones is awesome, you have to live it for yourself, is a life-changing experience...
The first one is called "Sonata Chiquitana" composed by an unknown indian from the missions.
Indigenous people from that Chiquitania zone are well known for being naturally talented (cause they severely lack the training or resources available in Europe) for music, not only classical music like this case, but also very rich folk music, both composing and performing.
Lovely segment today on NPR's Morning Edition about the Chiquitania Baroque Music Festival, where the musicians described are young people; children as young as eight, performing anonymous works written by Jesuits in the local dialect, as well as known works. Wonderful!
Not really, what is now Bolivia, was one of the main centers of Jesuit aculturization centers into the Catholic Church. The Jesuits were head strong in proving to the Spanish Crown, and to Europe as a whole that Native Americans were not animals, and therefore could learn not only languages but also music. The Chiquitano missions where spared because of their isolation ,the destruction that other missions suffered during the expulsion of the Jesuits in 1767.
@watermelli1980 Well when you have an opportunity to observe the Spanish Legacy with its Cathedrals and palaces with Barroque Architecture, it becomes rather obvious ;)

Bolivia has the best Folkloric music in South America. That's a given. But I was ignorant to this. Very nice.

What songs are these? The first sounds very much like it is vivaldi. the second sounds like its from a very early baroque opera.

What two pieces of music are these? The first sounds like Vivaldi; I don't know who the second could be.
