  • amazing how many people here miss to recognize a true musician. self-styled experts, beware of those! this guy just swings, good on him.

  • Shame because he could be ten times better if he actually practiced.

  • @1Thompsonmusic and we all suspect the same goes for you.

  • @MidniteHasStruck

    Shut up wanker

  • @1Thompsonmusic lmao try me.

  • @1Thompsonmusic You hella hate on all these pianists.... I see you posting shit about everybody

  • @XayasukiX

Yes, but this is NOT a pianist you stupid dickhead

  • @1Thompsonmusic You too could be better if you didn't sit on your lazy ass ranting on people who actually do practice unlike you... Notice nobody agrees with you that all these pianists "suck"?

  • @XayasukiX

That's because this is youtube, where 99% of the people who use it are complete arseholes.

  • @1Thompsonmusic Don't be a hypocrite

  • This made me laugh out loud for a number reasons. The comments, the poster's excellent description, and of course, the performance itself. Too bad he's not American---they could give him an Avery Fisher Career Grant.

  • Feodor Amirov is now in prison for protesting against vote fraud in Russia. Let's support him and all the people who are with him now!

  • At 4:34 - 4:37, he's like, "Yeah, I'm cool."

  • I don't think this guy read the tempo markings in the 5th bar. With that said, I wish I played this well. In due time!

  • HE'S HOT.

  • - He's a pirate -

    *the music starts*

  • This is a joke isn't it? Talk about dumbing down

  • Where's the pirate hat!!!!!?????/

  • My goodness!!! His control of the instrument is RIDICULOUS!!!!

  • 46 have not ears ....

  • 5 min then im gettin up for food. way to play man holy crap

  • Jesus, how tacky!

  • is this johhny depp's russian brother??

  • The first piece is not an Etude. It's a Scherzo. And it's rubbish. The octave etude though is well played.

  • @VincentoPiano i dont care, i just LIKE IT!!!

  • Why is he seeing a lot to the public?

  • 4:38

    Dat Glance

    4:41

    Dat Hair Whip

  • hear the wind blow in op.25 no.11 5:49

  • Great Hair!! But the "winter wind" is not as chilling & fierce as it could be. Underwhelmed.

  • lmfao jack sparrow

  • He's GOOD!!! Cute too.

    ( :

  • Maybe the wooden leg explains the peddling.

  • Captain Jack Sparrow!

  • 3:45 is just wow!

  • the WORST winterwind EVER 5:14

  • @4785689 I laughed so hard xD .Thank u so much =))

  • He comes out with great outfit, he will shake this planet soon.

    He's incredible!

Feodor, you are a magician on the keys!

    Bravo~

  • His clothes. Hahahaha. I think he did'nt know were hi was :D

  • The rendition of 25-11 seemed very unusual - I have never heard such pianissimo and emphasized left hand! He found something new in Chopin.

Still, I prefer Cziffra's version because it is canonic...

  • Gotta like the middle part of the 25 10. But why there is so much of his face instead of his hands? Is it impressive that he is looking to the ceiling while he is playing? Btw at 5:08 "check this shit!" When the main theme hits first time in 25 11 it's surprising. At least it's a bit different though.

  • @Aul1kki Haha, you're right. But notice he is looking at his hands and appears a little tight at the beginning of 25 10. And at the end of it he looks at the audience with a wry grin!

Eastern Europeans have the most hilarious style! He probably rode a motorcycle out on stage.

  • hes cute, but i somehow dont like how he interprets the pieces. not enough musical depth.

  • you're wrong - just look at Nigel Kennedy - its not about fashion, but about musical ability.

  • its actually pretty good-in spite of the theatrics and missed notes etc.

  • @gospelkeys07 These days, its all about standing out and being remembered!

  • whats the first piece he's playing ? at the begining?

  • @AmericanCars101

Scherzo Nr. 3 op. 39 (the end)

  • rofl

  • it's funny how we listen to a composition of someone being played and we think that the composer wrote it to be played one way. Feodor is playing it his way. as with everyone elses way of playing. the way it comes to you. your version of an ideal. thats freedom. it sounds good to me.

  • he's great. don't hate the player guys. hate the game. Chopin was a smooth dude to when he played. it was part of his charm. he dressed and looked the part. why not? not everybody will every get to his level. you worked for it. enjoy it while it lasts.

  • I like the winter wind, and he does vary his dynamics

  • damn it- i dont like his winter wind etude :(

i mean it's gorgeous but i wish it were more powerful.

it sounds like a wimpy version.

  • @PianoFanatic1989 it was great.

  • He looks like Gary Oldman.

  • jakoś mi nie brzmi to wszystko... takie matowe...

  • cool ;)

  • I like when he finishes the b minor etude, his gestures say, "check ME out, guys!".. lol..

  • From 010 to 014 he's not pedaling right.

  • Waaaaaaaooww, this guy is really talented, but....

  • I like to listen to his complete Chopin scherzo no.3 .

    Good pianists in any way.

  • It's just unbelievable - he has the most perfect posture by playing, that I've ever seen!

  • Chopin 3rd scherzo

    Chopin etude no.10 op.25

Chopin etude no.11 Op.25 'Winter wind'

  • the johnny deep-ish metal leather jacket good interpret awsome guy. 8:25 worthed minutes from my precious life

  • WOOWW....Un vrai.....

  • omg hes sooo hot *drool. lol btw total bj lips weird. and srsly FUCKIN AWESOME PIANO

like compared to horowitz its just less soothing-but thats sorta in the character of chopin sometimes. i love the attitude of his playing especially in the beginning

  • what is he playing in the beginning????

  • sometimes viewing the previous comments helps. the beginning is the coda from Chopin's Third Scherzo, in C# Minor, Op. 39.

  • thanks:)!

  • 3rd scherzo

  • He won the first prize at Viotti's international music competition in 2004. I heard at his performance and he was, without any doubts, really the best! I think he's a piano genious.

  • this pianist is intelligent and controls sound has some good musicality but does not reflect the intention of the composer, but instead trys to convince us that he himself is the genious... when he has understood to put himself at the disposal of the composers intentions he may get a genious....

  • I completely agree with your assessment. He especially displays very good control over his dynamics in Op. 25, No. 11, but Chopin did not ask for them. I hear a bit of rubato in that etude as well.

  • If you knew him in person you wouldn't say that. Anyways.

  • this pirat is a virtuoso,

like gubrush treepood, that used to play banjo.

  • good and bad parts

  • Just trying to think of the composition that he starts with ... it is one of four : that's right it is a scherzo

  • Comment removed

  • loved it <3

  • lack of technique?

    such bastards

they obviously don't have any idea of judgeing a performance

the musical worth of a performance has to count and not the number of mistakes

rubinstein made a lot of mistakes too and is one of the greatest pianists ever

  • cause Rubinstein WAS OLD.

  • Personally, I think you really have to have both, especially in this day and age. I hate wrong notes because the notes ARE the music: each wrong note is like removing a detail from a beautiful painting. you are right to say that playing the right notes without good musicianship is worthless. But without chops, the best of musical intentions can't be adequately expressed. That isn't to say his chops suck. They don't; his etudes are good. But the Scherzo is messy, and it detracts.

  • I think he's really good. There's bits and pieces that aren't quite there but still he has a great sound.

  • In my opinion, his playing is too fast and nervous,so he wastes his talent in this way and finally generates a lot of confusion.

  • can anyone tell me which piece he plays on the start of this video?? thanks

  • Scherzo n. 3, the final part

  • Chopin Ballade no. 3.

  • the octave etude is very well played, one of the few pianists who use the right legato in this piece.

  • I am watching this video at least twice a week, simply looove it.

Think there is something really unique in the way he plays.

  • Anybody know how far this guy went in the competition?

  • Disqualified. 1st round.

  • I see. Disqualified because of attire maybe? or simply playing? Thanks.

  • why??

  • He missed a lot of notes. Lack of technique (different performance than this, though)

  • He plays quite enthusiastically. Perhaps that got the better of caution.

  • was he?

  • LMAO!!! Captain Jack Sparrow! He does look like a pirate! xD

  • I love that there are people like this guy in the world. I would never expect him to be a pianist just by looking and especially not world class at that. A great surprise and a great pianist.

  • oh God... Captain Jack Sparrow....

  • The caption's messing with my head, I can't look at this guy without laughing.

  • ballade 4 ? first

  • No, it's the 3rd scherzo :)

  • I like his winter wind interpretation. The r.h. is very subdued and seems easier than it is.

  • necrophagist re mounia \m/

  • BRILLIANT!!!

  • I'd like to be gay to love you hoplessly...there is nothing better than a person beautiful and talented...

  • How about genius and beauty. Or perhaps an army of robots with laser canons? Or a Unicorn that spits out rainbows and candy to children everywhere? Mmmmm....candy

  • All that could be very nice...very imaginative...but this piano god is real...and his charm is universal...mmm...

  • is it just me or was the 25 #10 too stacatto?

eh his face is ok, he smiles at times.

  • I like how he controls the dynamics in winterwind

  • he is great yo0u play that crap i dont care what his face says he practices more than you work

  • There no doubt this man has wonderful technique and supreme piano playing skills. His looks and hair and what he is wearing matters less to me.But the lack of emotions is what the key also is here. There really nothing that seems to grip y0u into his emotions of playing .But as far his playing a scale of 1-10 it's a 8.Just cant give a person a 10 with no motion that surely playing gives you .

  • I liked this. His 25/11 was interesting

  • Some people complain about this guy's playing, but at least he tries to inject SOME music making into his playing. I might not agree with everything he does, but I do hear an attempt at musicality, especially in the middle section of Op25 10, as well as 11.

  • I agree that good music can shine through wrong notes, but there were too many technical imperfections.

But there were other competitors that were musical AND technically perfect. So Feodor got as far in this competition as he deserved.

  • Well I guess what I mean by music making is "saying something with the music", interpreting it with conviction, personality, taste, and above all, originality. These things are not all present in many "winners" anymore, and therefore they quickly fade into obscurity. This guy maybe at least had a chance - and again - I don't agree with everything he does.

  • Very enjoyable technique. He flowed with great clarity and understanding. playing like this is very troubling for judges.

  • I'm not saying he has perfect technique. I'm more around the lines that he flows with the music knowing that this sounds good. Although he made a lot of mistakes, I did enjoy how he made the piece sound as one. Rather than letting it sound like seperate pieces pasted together. but ofcourse, like horowitz mentioned, about competitions, that Judges aren't interested in music but the perfection. Play perfect with little emotion for judges, but Play your heart out for your loving audience.

  • Do you play this music well?

  • He's funny:D... His eyes say: "look at me! I'm a great pianist!" xD

  • lol that's so funny

  • Captain Jack Sparrow xD

  • I knew he looked familiar!!!! ;)

  • LOL!!!!

  • the scherzo is played with a lot of fear no dynamics in there

  • and wrong notes too

  • time after time he very funny looks askance on the right where the judges seat, as though waiting them standing shout "Bravo" :))

No one at this competition has poor skills, they all deserved to play there. But looking at him really spoils impression from his performance - he is too much busy with enjoying himself, music seems to be on the second place :(

  • what is the piece that he's playing at the very beginning?

  • scherzo no.3

  • I hate people who care about what to wear. This pianist owns about everyone here.

  • I give some serious props to this guy for 2 reasons.

    1. He really has great skills, and plays without a doubt better than everyone here.

    2. Wearing jacket at competition isn't the most wise thing to do, but it DOES make him look better. And he really has beautifull hair. I don't see a reason why you should criticize that much, it's really dumb. Or is it maybe you're jealous?

  • I can doubt his great skills! Tell me, where is the phrase in the scherzo and in the octaves?! the octaves are so tense... and it's too much SHOW-OFF! don't even compare him to blechacz....

  • Such a stable technique.

  • it almost seems as if he's showing off with his hair instead of his piano playing talent.

  • Dis guy iz teh truegod!

  • Opus 25 - No. 10 & No. 11

  • aaaanyway will sumone pleez tell me wat that first song is

  • The finale of Chopin's third scherzo in C sharp minor.

  • You mean first composition?

  • nah lol.. i was talkin bout his third sherzo... thanks aniwayz

  • so what ?, Lukecash12, you want me to comment on his use of rubato or endearing technique?? judging by his own aesthetics in that performance i doubt even he would want that( long hair ; leather jacket) . its people like you ,Lukecash12,that influence the opinions of young people today as regarding classical music as pretentios. its a fucking youtube video . if a person reads your comment theyve obviosly watch the video and seen for themselves how good he is. you said yourself"needless to say"

  • I totally agree that you have a big cock and that your outtake on the composition was absolutly phenominal!! care for some tea and crumpets later old chap??

  • and yes. tea and crumpits it is ya riddled slut, Peoples2kk7. show this to you brother and maybe hell let me stay in your house hahaha... fuckin gimp

  • People like me? People like me just don't want insulting posts clogging up something very important to them: watching a beautiful performance, giving an opinion on the technique and philosophy, and then seeing the input of others as they might have a different view of it. Someone else might have seen this performance as haughty like a Mozart performance. If you wish to say things such as that, then why not post on a pornographic video so as to interest the others watching and reading posts?

  • important to you?music is my life.i do agree with you that excersising respectful language may be needed for such a beautiful arts, but i dont think that simply xpressing opinions in vernacular terms shud b critisised.especially on such a broad site as youtube.people come here to taste new experiences of life.if i had never realised music such as this for myself,as most dont, the use of words such as "uncouth" would support this ignorant vista and dint any chance of me realising classical as music

  • thank you for justifying your view of things. I appreciate it.

  • That was a virtuoso performance! He increased and decreased in tempo very evenly on certain pieces, and in others he was very stark, and daring, which was great in putting across a philosophical point of Chopin's brooding compositions. And of course, needless to say, the tone was more than a little exceptional.

  • Dans les études op 25 no 10 et no 11 il fait plutôt moins de bruit que ce qu'on a l'habitude d'entendre...

  • franzferenceliszt ive a bigger cock than you ... yer chopin!! gawd chap learn to play his etudes will ya !! :P ah im messin ...fair job .. whats the first etude he plays , is it an etude ? i never heard it... niosh version of no 13!! opus 25 no 9 is his best of the later ones i think...

  • A neanderthal comment. maddguizz74, no offense intended upon you as if you are a neanderthal, but that was an uncouth sentiment.

  • did he get into final?

  • Sirius
