westbound train is #49 not 48. All Westbound trains are odd numbers all EB are even. just like northbound trains are even numbers and southbound is odd numbers.

Nice I rode the Silver Meteor and it went 115 mph!!!! It was AWESOME!!

Amtrak is not permitted to go more than 79mph outside of the NE Corridor, so i doubt u went 115 anywhere outside the NEC. Only the Southwest Chief has permission to go 95mph because that is what the track is rated for.

Although i do hear Metro-North is upgrading their tracks between Poughkeepsie and NY to operate 110mph. cuz i know the lakeshore limited cover the 143 miles from albany to NY in less than 2 1/2hrs. (usually 90minutes)

My family rode Amtrak #49 from Elyria, OH to Chicago, IL. Then we rode Amtrak #30 from Chicago back to Elyria a few days later. We went by the spot where I make the majority of my train videos. It was a great trip!
