The industries that we find it so easy to demonize nowadays were once the saviors and the backbone of our nation. Oil, Tobacco, Firearms, etc. Now that we find that they are "too successful" and there may be negative results is it fair that we now demand they be disbanded and their profits redistributed? Then what do we do when old electric cars are leaving too many batteries in the land-fills? Will we demonize the battery industry?
LOL. Corporate greed is not news to me, and I truly believe its possible that certain myths have been fostered in order to manipulate the market. These types of things happen all the time. But do demonize "corporate CEO's" with a broad stroke is a mistake. Plus, I imagine you only mean CEO's of certain types of industry. Is Martha Stewart a monster? Oprah? The heads of the recycling industry? Are not these people also interested in profit?
You're right about this solving the problems with individual energy costs, but it would do little to solve the oil "crisis". Most oil is used for things like industrial lubricants, plastics manufacturing, etc. Gas stations and heating oil are most talked about because that's what "regular" people are most aware of but they are actually small factors in the big equation. But I absolutely agree that solar, wind AND hydro need to be advanced dramatically!
yeah, I'll take advice from a semi-illiterate like yourself...get an education and some basic social graces and maybe you won't have your faced handed to you in every argument..with that..like so many of the shows that have obviously educated you...you are 'eluminated'..off the island? stay tuned for the next episode of "partial educated man tries to converse with rational people"...can he do it? i don't know folks you have to tune in...oh, and you don't know what words mean? do you? done with u
To suggest that oil companies are not interested in keeping the planet habitable is silly. Are they martians? "peak oil" is a myth, the truth is oil IS a renewable resource, but that's an industry secret meant to keep the world in a frenzy. there are many books written by experts on the subject, i think one is actually titled "The Peak oil Myth". And the prices are reducing demand in smaller newly industrialized nations. maybe that's the plan all along? to bid them out and then level the price.
It's funny how so many people (not saying you) praise wind and solar as the answer and demonize Reps for not pushing it. Meanwhile they wanted to build a wind farm off the coast in New England and Saint Teddy Kennedy voted NO because it would ruin his wonderful elitist beaches! LOL Maybe he was afraid the dredging would reveal more hookers he drowned! But I do agree we need to promote more use of wind and solar - immediately!
it's funny how ignorant people (i am saying you) can oversimplify situations to fit into their narrow frame of view...especially when they think they're being funny...hell, i'm even guilty of it..well, not the part about being ignorant or having a narrow view...
Notice who was first to bring personal insults into the equation! Can't stand the possibility that someone might have a different point of view than yours without them being a moran?
For instance baronvonshitlicker, dozdolt44 and i clearly disagree on issues yet not once have we turned insulting towards one another. But I guess a coward like you can't help but get a cramp in his vagina once he realizes that the world doesn't revolve around his menstral cycle! Pussy! stick to blowin all the fellas that only agree with you. You'll live longer.
I agree with ur opinion of the bush's and the rest. My point was even when we do use new forms of energy who do you think will be running it? tree elves or big corps? Secondly, new research shows we have MUCH more than 2% of the reserves. We have about 800 BILL. gallons in the shail out west alone. Fact is we propbably have more oil than anyone else on the planet! We need to use it while we develop new forms of energy.
Nationalizing, or rather SOCIALIZING anything is always the WRONG idea! Doesn't anyone remember the goddamned SOVIET UNION!? OR look at conditions in CHINA and NORTH KOREA! OR take your pick of ANY Communist nation past and present! Asking for socialization just shows a weak mind begging for the nanny state to come solve all your problems for you so that you don't scrape your knee! FREEDOM is what we should seak in ALL aspects of our lives, or else we've already lost everything.
socialism is not communism. do i have to point out the great number of social programs that exist in the united states? with concern to oil. brazil seems to be doing pretty well with nationalizing their oil and it allowed them the ability to explore other resources.
the ignorance you show doesn't surprise me in the least, i've noticed most ron paul supporters think they know shit because they tow a propaganda line. educate yourself and so you don't always come off as a fucking fool.or tool.
And since you wanna get testy you cunt! Do I need to point out the many ways I would make you lick your own back if I ever met you in person? It's easy being an internet tough guy huh? can't just have a friendly debate about important issues? You're a fuckin coward!
aren't you a lippy little bitch. i bet your daddy kissed your bottom late a night. well, ny irish daddys love there little boys. u got kids...have you beat or molested them yet? coward..hardly. pm me..i'll give you my address...hell, i'll fly you down. then i'll pay guys to party with you...tape it and show it to your family. that is if i don't let my dogs have there way with you and then just set you adrift at sea. i'll be in ny late july. i would love to meet an internet "tuff guy" like you.
Japan, Germany, Mexico, India, Israel, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom.just to name a few of the countries that have nationalized oil, and if i'm not mistaken, as recently as 01 the united states nationalized the airport security industry. It does make perfect sense to nationalize oil. immediate price correction. possible peace in the middle east. the opportunity for governments, without big business, to come together and solve/curb environmental pollution.+>-
I gotta disagree. The US nationalizing the airport security industry has been a disaster!Second, the reason why big industry is such a problem is because it is already too closely tied to big gov. "Nationalizing" something simply means that the gov has complete control over what company gets control of an entire national industry (there is always a private subcontractor). This ALWAYS results in MORE corruption, incompitance flourishes for lack of competition and the individual ALWAYS suffers.
I agree that we'll be better if we get off oil. But if we drill here we'll be able to get out of the Mid-east. "Greedy" corps ain't goin nowhere no matter what energy source we use. And again, you seem to be arguing that punishing regular people will somehow get us the changes sooner. this is where I really disagree.
What does bankrupting working class Americans have to do with changing foreign policy? That's like saying "let this person murder me so that there is more food to go around." We should be drilling our own oil to get us off of foreign oil and ALSO developing new forms of energy. We CAN do both ya know.
The name of this vid is wrong. There were NO oil spills during Katrina! That's the point. We're terrified to drill because of "environmental disasters" that no longer occur. Technology has increased and things are much safer than they were 30 years ago. All the countries that drill offshore around the world are doing so safely WITH OUR TECHNOLOGY! Sometimes even closer to our shores than we allow ourselves to! It's a joke and we need to stop it! Use OUR oil and stop fighting for the rest!
My friend, who is a chemical engineer in Houston, worked on a bunch of damaged oil platforms after Katrina. They were spills, but not as catastrophic as older spills.
And OUR TECHNOLOGY??? Why did my friend spend over 2 yrs across seas getting more training?? The US technology sector is weak right now, esp in engineering.
I guarantee your friend had to go overseas to get training on US Tech because overseas is the only place to get a WORKING KNOWLEDGE of the equipment WE developed. If we were allowed to drill here he wouldn't have had to go very far.
The question is, do we have to sit back and watch or can we take this oil spill over? Really, when is it our responsibility to fix the situation?
